  1. ok first yes as of now the ecu is the only mod and what your saying is that I should look for smaller gears either go back to 3.54 or get a 300zx lsd 3.70, so that I don't bust my trany racing it. My goal is to get into the low 12's right now and also my car weighs with me in it and a 1/4 tank of gas 2800 even and yes they scales I used where at a brass factory were my dad works and they have the most accuate scales peiod. tbs

I'm sorry but I got lost in what you mean by this "I can't imagine that if you were running 3.90 gears even with the regular 5-spd tranny that you wouldn't be switching into 5th on a run with the ET's that you desire...and most guys will consider that a bad thing" are you saying I'm going to run out of gears last time I did a street race, because I haven't had the time to go up to the track I finish our measured 1/4 mile in third gear so I'm a little confused on what you mean I don't get wheel spin at all because the turbo is what makes my torque and I launch at about 2500 so it makes a small chrip and just goes for me to go. I know that my 5-spd has the best gears of all inline zcars. I'm just wanting to know if this was a good thing for me to switch to for time wise or not??
  3. I'm wounding if I have all the groves machined down will the turbo clutch bolt up to it and will it fit into N/A 81-83 bellhousing?? I'm not having any luck finding a good turbo /2+2 flywheel for a reasonable price so I'm thinking about going this route but I want to know before I do it. So could any one help me out?? tbs
  4. I'm woundering what kind of gears you are running in you cars I have 3.90's and the 81-83 n/a trany in my turbo car. I'm just woundering if I could have got the 12-11 seconds with out the gears and if I could then what kind of times do you think I could get with these gears and with the mods listed in my signiture?? tbs
  5. are you guys doing this on stock gears and the t5 tranny or what. I've got the 81-83 five speed and 3.90's in my car and what a difference but the clutch keeps slipping so what clutch could I fit in the n/a bellhousing with the turbo flywheel "when I get one"?? and what kind of gains would i get with these mods to get 11's with my gears I know carmero guys get great gains from there stock gears to 3.73 so would I see a greater gain with these mods with my gears or not, I'm wanting to get every bit of power that I can for a low price in my z before I more go for my expensive mods like the 3.0 stroker. tbs

I'm waiting more and with the list of mods to come this winter in my signiture would raising comppression in my motor going to hurt the performance or 1/4 times that I could have with out the rasied compression. I was planning on using the flat tops out of the N/A in place of the turbo set. Would this be a good mod or no baised on my mods to be?? I'm really wanting to beat this Iroc guy that I know he posts on www.thirdgen.org and he has the nerve to post with his name as 1meanz ****hole that car's not a z car us guys are the ones with zcars it's been classified as that I that really me up. Help me kick his *** hard core. tbs
  7. so if I do all the mods in my signiture with out using the flat tops I can run 12's on street tires but would the raised compression help me out in the long run or not??? I'm wanting to later upgrade again and again and either learn how to reprogram the ecu's eprom or get a JWTs ecu like jeffp's. I did think it was funny that I tied a iroc 305 with a cam, exhaust and port work with my z that has 3.90's, 81 tranny, z31eccs, bad mass, and terribly slipping clutch. I want more and I'm planing on getting more out of this motor. tbs
  8. I had this problem in my zxt when I installed the z31 ecu and it turned out to be the Crank Angle Sensor you might want to look at it. tbs
  9. I'm wanting to get into the 12's with a stock engine except for I'm running a set of flat tops to raise some compression. I also want to do these with out any spraying or on a special set of tires with sticky spray. I want this to be more of a street time then an all out drag time. What suggestions can you give me to help me get into the 12's I would perfer mid 12's. The reason I'm wanting to get these times to beat a dick that has a 305 Iroc that talks a bunch of s%#t to me and clams to going to get big gains like 13's-12's with nos and right know he has mid 14's so I think with his nos will drop him into the 13's but I want to do it without any nos to really burn him up. I know the L28ET is cappaly of doing it I just need to know what to do to unlock it's power. tbs
  10. I really need new tires and I'm don't have enough money to get rims and tires so and I also kinda like the four spokes on my z. Anyways I would like to know what type of tire would hook up the best in my z. I'm planning on at least low 13's by spring and deffently need to hook up. Just so you know I'm running the 81 N/A trany and the 3.90's to in my turbo car if that maters at all. So could someone please help me? tbs
  11. no do what I did I bought a turbo 2 rx7 oil cooler for $15 mounted it in front of the raidator and had the place where my dad works make me the lines to run it, or you could get stainless line for a good price. The Oil cooler doesn't go for much on ebay and keeps my oil really cool too. tbs
  12. If you want a new mirror that is cheap and is a direct bolt up and gives you a larger viewing rang then get any conquest/starion rearview mirrors and screw it in. I've been needing a new mirror and tonight going through my buddies parts I thought it might work and it does. Really looks nice to. These mirrors will fit any 79-83 280zx. tbs
  13. hey randy I have the same problem in my 280zxt in stopped locations, so I'm going to keep the clutch fan and install a pusher fan in front of my motor that will be on, I won't do anything while driving because the clutch will out perform it but at idle it will make all the diference and I might hook one to cool the I/C at idle I'm not sure yet though. tbs
  14. I'm woundering about the overall performance of the system. I'm doing a research paper and I chose to do it over the TEC II system. I would like to know how hard was it to install, to tune, program, has it been worth the cost, are you running a tad rich or stouchie, is there a limit to the system, are you happy with your set up and does it meet your needs. tbs
  15. I've heard of the toyota 4x4 upgrade but what about the rear disk breaks can I use a set of late frist gen supra brakes there look to be the same as the 4x4 trucks fronts but I need to know. Because I can get these callipers for only 15 each. I'm looking to really increase stopping power of my z and to get rid of those tinny four wheeler rear brake pads. tbs
  16. yah have you ever broken a shifter off at the tranny. my friend drives in car like really hates it. I he has a 87 conquest and with like porting upping boost, and a first gen mas he's in low 14's. tbs
  17. I'm woundering on what I sould do the to the head I want 3mm oversized exhaust valves, intake/exhaust gasket matched, everything polished. Is this a good thing to do to this head to increase the flow?? tbs
  18. I would like to make it into the 12's by spring I'm putting the car up for a rebuild and want to make it a 3.0L stroker but I don't know what combiation of parts I should use to acieve this and I was woundering what eles I should do. Oh just to let you know I'm running the 300zx turbo ecu tbs
  19. I'm been looking to find someone who sells sets of hyperuticic pistons for a custom stroker project. I want to use the LD28 crank and 240z rods, I want the piston to be 88mm with a wrist pin height of .005 below the top of the deck. I've been looking and looking and can only find forged custom pistons, I've been looking at wiseco's custom set for only 630 with everything but would like a cheaper piston so I can spend money else where.
