  1. What's most important to you? Working on the car, or the racing. If it's the racing experience I'd go with AWD or RWD for obvious reason. If it's more about working on the car to take the abuse then just pick which ever you think won't break in half first. Or if it does can be most easily welded back into 1 piece:grin: Whatever you get be sure to post pictures. And some video's if you get to race it. I bought a turbo car because boost is sweet, but also cause I don't have a turbo car and wanted to get to learn about them. If i were just going to beat it to pieces I don't think I'd have spend the money I did for a turbo one.
  2. I have something like that, except my brake lights and turn signals never come on, and the running tail lights are always on (whenever the battery is connected). I haven't gotten to mess with it so don't hate if it's something easy (at the beach now so I can't), I'm just asking if anybody knows if the same thing happens with the switch to turn on your lights (that would effect tail lights). Thanks in advance. When I figure it out I'll post.
  3. I have a cheap 82 280zx that would be a great project car. But I kinda live about 10 hours away in Maryland. Let me know if you happen to be interested.
  4. My only feed back would be to clean that poo looking stuff out of your engine bay:wink:. Other than that I'm pretty much useless. Good luck on your quest to know everything. Here's some help, On average, 350 squirts are needed from milking a cow to make a gallon of milk. I thought that the red paint came on new parts, or from the factory, and then just got worn off over time. Apologies if that's completely wrong/stupid.
  5. Something like that happened to my old Camry and AAA came out and sprayed WD-40 in the hole and it was fine. He said they can build up dirt over time and when cleaned again it's fine. I'd try that before replacing anything expensive, just in case, if you haven't already fixed it.
  6. That thing is freaking awesome. Have you seen many of those made into fun street cars or are you just going out on a limb? Good luck and keep posting pictures.
  7. OK. Pictures! The blueish grey is the turbo, and the 2 tone (black and silver) is the NA. Pictures are before any swapping was started although the turbo one was kinda taken apart. VS VS And most importantly... VS So it turns out the interior was really the only thing I've really needed so far. Replaced the battery terminals and the turbo is running again. Being a silly noob is went gung-ho and pulled the starter and check all kindsa whatnots, then decided to get new terminals and it started right up. But hey, it's a learning process. Learning from experience is fine, unless it costs me lots of unnecessary money. I started pulling the hatch on the NA but the wiring on both sides at the top stopped me. I havn't tried to follow them or search yet but while I'm posting, does anybody know off hand the easiest way to pull the hatch. Also, I still have to swap a tail light to check if it's not the housing but otherwise does anybody know why or where best to check why the running light(in the back) would stay on an all times (car on or off, lights on or off) and the brake lights/turning signals don't work? Worst case scenario it's a short somewhere in the wiring and I'll rip up the harness till i either find the short in the wire or decide to swap wiring harnesses. Basically everything else has and will most likely stay in the car it's in nbesheer, I like the NA car cause I had more fun in it for the short time I've had it because the exhaust sounds cool and I drove it harder than I did the turbo one cause it was just gonna be a parts car (I drove the turbo one home 250 miles going 55mph, cause I wanted it to make it home and I'm new to turbo systems so I'm still weary about not knowing the car yet) . But I'm sticking with the turbo cause I don't have the space to have 2 dead cars, both cars would need body work but the NA has 2 small rust holes on the frame rail, and I'm not too confident in my motor swapping skills yet. So for now the turbo gets the nice interior and everything else and I'll get it running smooth while the NA sits in my driveway till I decide I can use parts, or sell it. That's my rant. have a good day and tell your mother I said hello.
  8. Short version. Have a 83 280zxt, just bought a 82 280zx for a parts car but I'm sad cause I really like it. Bought it because it has nice interior, battery, hatch, misc swappable engine parts. Let me know if there's anything you want, I'll most likely be parting out anything I don't think I should have on hand. I'm really sad to say but this will be a parts car for my 83 280zxt. I had gone to look at it in northern Baltimore twice cause I was really interested, and the guy was telling me he just really wanted to get rid of it. The price was set at $600 and I kept telling him I just needed to find a place to store it cause the street in front of my house is filling up. So he told me if I take it this weekend (memorial day weekend) that he'll take 300 for it. Long story short I drove it home the next day. I'll post pictures in a bit. Now it's time to work on em.
  9. Your hatch looks like a smurf:mrgreen:
  10. Hahaha at the guy changing the tire out the window. Not saying I'm not extremely jealous of their skills. But come on, is there really nothing more productive to do with you time but make people like me feel like noobs at driving.
  11. Thought I'd join the list. I just bought an 83 280zx turbo. It's in decent condition. Has some rust, but not on the frame. I'm just trying to get the car running so I'm confident in it then I'll work on some fun stuff:)
