  1. Hey I have a 280zx turbo (just swapped in) and the car idles nicely with 20" vacuum, but as soon as I push the gas, the car dies. Drops to 0" vacuum and just stalls. If I let off quick, it starts idling again, but if I hold down the throttle it dies completely. Any ideas? I really can't figure this out.
  2. Hey I'm looking for a few turbo parts for my recent swap. -MAF/VCM bracket -Air Regulator I'll think of some others
  3. Hey I just swapped an '81 L28ET with an '82 harness and ECU into my '82 280ZX (N/A). I have spark and fuel, but the car won't start. After cranking on it for a while trying to get it to go, stil nothing. It smells a little like fuel from the exhaust. Any ideas?
  4. ok update... I have spark now. It is an 81 crank trigger (on the front pulley). Now it doesnt start. I got it to start kind of, but it sounded like it was only running at 100rpms or is was missing on most of the cyl. Not really sure.
  5. Hey I just did a turbo swap into my '82 280ZX (N/A) It is an '81 motor with a '82 harness and ECCS. Everything is hooked up, and I have fuel (can hear the fuel pump priming). I go to start, and I have no spark. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  6. thanks for the picture. Does anyone have an extra?
  7. What exactly does the dropping resistor do?
  8. have any pictures? any idea where I could find that bracket?
  9. Does anybody know where the VCM (vacuum control modulator) is supposed to mount on a 280ZX/L28ET?
  10. My ecu is for an 82 with an auto trans... my motor has the trigger wheel on the crank, not in the distributor, The car is manual transmission.
  11. So I have built a '81 Turbo motor for my car, have an '81 harness, and am getting ready to do the swap, but I just found out my ECU is for an '82. Will this cause any problems? If yes, does anyone have an '81 ECU they'd be willing to trade? Thanks guys,
  12. those are great books. Extremely helpful. Recently the How to rebuild your Nissan OHC has been helping me throughout my engine rebuild.
  13. I had the same problem, I used a large (and wide) crescent wrench so there was lots of contacting surface area, and a large breaker bar and the plug came right out.
  14. I need a downpipe and an igniter (for coil) for a 280ZX turbo. The motor is from an '81.
  15. How could you say it makes no difference? If you drive a zx with those upgrades next to a completely stock one, you're telling me they would go the exact same speed and (if they were racing), get the exact same time? I've driven both, and know its not true.
  16. What are some good clutch choices for a 280zx-t? I'm working on the motor right now, and want to do everything at once. I'm shooting for around 280-300hp and need something that will hold up but not too expensive. I'm putting a fidanza flywheel (10.5lbs) and a single row front crank pulley (damper) to lighten up the drive train. I was looking into maybe a exedy OE clutch, or maybe a stage 1. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
  17. Megasquirt would solve that problem.. I know its mentioned before, but a tune up, big throttle body, cold air, electric fan, exhaust and an MSD makes a huge difference over stock. Removing some heavy stuff from the car (ie. AC, ASCD. etc) doesn't hurt either.
  18. My coilover kit is finished, and is going on sale in a month or so... There is a post about it in the for sale section. You can also email me @ taylorclark4@gmail.com if you need some info/pictures.
  19. We're now selling complete Coilover kits (straight bolt in) for S130's. Go to parts for sale section and search "280ZX Coilovers"
  20. I now have a MAF... all I need is the downpipe or o2 sensor housing and the exhaust section right after that. Goes from downpipe to cat.
  21. I don't want to raise the car at all
