  1. I have a chevy 377 with a edelbrock intake and speed demon carb thats going into my 72 240z. I am completely dumb when it comes to turbos but have always wanted to throw one on my car because of the advantage at the upper rpms. The reasons it sounds better to me is the turbo lag, i wont need any more lower end or il roast the tires and go no where. My questions are: what turbo can fit my application? How does it fit to the carb? I understand how modern injected cars work but have no idea how a old carb turbo works? Do they sell turbo kits for carbed up chevys? I think i want one big turbo so i get hi end power. I basically want someone to point me in the right direction about how to turbo charge my setup, i can fabricate parts, but would like some sort of kit or part list i need. Thanx guys Chad

Sorry dont know what i was thinking, I know of a guy who had a 1100 hp cobra with a 8.8 rear that was tricked out and he raced it at laguna seca at least 200 times with no rear end problems, These 8.8 are just like the ford 9 inch except a little smaller spyder gear but when souped up can handle almost as much power as you can feed it. Good gears, good shafts and a 8.8 will do the trick and do it realiably. And when you narrow the 8.8 [you will have to] That makes it even stronger. Your other option is the c5 vette rear end but its only a dana 36 where as the 8.8 rear end is comprable to a dana 60. Chad

Thanx guys for responding, i noticed you all had auto tranny`s, do you think i could get better times on a manual...Im a pretty good drag driver, i know that the autos are more realiable when it comes to shifting but how about launching? How is your guys trannys built up aftermarket tq converters? Also is traction an issue? Chad
  5. Im interested in seeing the differant times with the differant setups , I need to get a realistic 1/4 1/8 and 60 foot for my z, Can you all please list. Engine type/Tranny, rearend, Tires and wieght of car. Please guys awnser this it will only take a second and it will help me out tremendisouly.   6. Do it worse comes to worse just sell the engine/trans and you should get about 600 for that alone. But i would go 350 because of the thickness of the cylinder walls it makes for more of a realiable street car. But a 400 has alot of power. Chad
  7. Go for the 350 you`ll end up swaping it out anyways i promise, And It sounds like as much work with the heads and cam as the 350 would take. The 307 will make 300 hp but how realiable. A 350 will make 300hp withoput batting an eye and be the more realiable than a stock z. Chad
  8. Where are the sites for suspension stuff, and do coilovers replace the strut? hows that work on a irs system? Will the coilover fit in the strut tower? thanx alot guys CHAD
  9. Guys im converting my 240z, im putting a 350 in it. Im wondering what suspension mods ill have to do. Can anyone fill me in as to there current setups, What kind of struts are the best, springs? I dont know much about irs suspension. Please help. I want the car to be a good handling car but 60 % drag 40% road race car if that is possible. Thanks guys Chad

You guys on this board seem to know everything about the chevy v8z`s im new to the whole thing could someone please list all the options they could think of for manual transmissions for the v8z`s im going to the junkyard and need to know what to look for also if you know what cars they came in that would be great.   11. My moms 97 boneville kicks the crap out of MUSTANG GTS that dont exactly know how to handle there car it has a 3.8 l supercharged v-6 with stage 3 eaton blower talk about a sleeper. 288 hp dynoed to the wheels. Chad
  12. I have a bone stock 240z i was wondering if heads from a 2.8l are interchangeable also how hard is it to do a turbo swap to one of these and can someone please just tell me general common perform,ance swaps to the 2.4l engine Chad
  13. i NOTICED MY FRAME ON MY 72 240 WAS RUSTING OUT I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR AND THIS MY FIRST Z IM A PRETTY DECENT WELDER SO I SAIOD SCREW IT. I CUT OUT ALL THE OLD FRAME FROM THE REAR ALL THE WAY TO THE FRONT NEAR THE BEND. I TOOK 3/8`S SQUARE TUBE STEEL AND CUT THE TOPSIDE OFF SO IT LOOKED LIKE C CHANNEL, THEN I FIT IT OVER THE OLD PAPER THINE FRAME RAILS ANT WELDED IT TO THE BODY. THEN I CUT 3/16`S STRAPS AND WELDED THEM OVER THE TUBING, AND LASTLY WELDED 2 3/8`S SQUARE CROSSMEMBERS THAT CONNECT TO BOTHE FRAME RAILS. WAS THIS A GOOD IDEA, I KNOW ITS STRONG AS HELL BUT CAN ANYTHING BAD COME OF IT? I HAVENT DONE THE V8 SWAP BUT I HAVE A 377 READY TO DROP IN THE WAY THE FRAME WAS I WOULD HAVE TORN THE CRAP OUT OF IT. aNY SUGGESTIONS ON MORE MODS WOULD BE APPRECIATED cHAD
  14. fIRST OFF DONT GET A 4 BOLT 400 SOME PEOPLE ALWAYS THINK 4 BOLT IS THE WAY TO GO AND IT IS MOST OF THE TIME, BUT NOT IN THE 400`S CASE. SINCE THE CYLINDER WALLS ARE SO THIN THE 4 BOLTS ACTUALLY WEAKEN IT. LOOK AT ANY CIRCLE TRACK 400 ENGINES ALL OF THEM ARE 2 BOLTS WITH SPLAYED CAPS. i HAVE A 400 WITH SPLAYED CAPS THAT ILL SELL AS A SHORTBLOCK FOR 800 DOLLARS. cHAD
  15. Can someone please list the costs other than engine and tranny on a sbc mod. I just got a 72 240z and have a option between 2 engines a 377 and 406 but no trans. and i need to know ALL THE COST exterior to engines and trans thanx so much guys i really need this Chad

I have a 1956 chevy bel air/210 with a SBC 355 [Fuelie Heads,Crane Cam,Holley intake Holley carb,Brand new centerforce Dual friction with 4-spd tranny] body is in good condition but needs paint, just had 2500 body work done to it, new chevy 10 bolt rear with eaton posi new interior runs like a top. Want to trade for pre 73 z that runs preferably already with a small block. Need it to be my daily driver. Hit me up for pics Chad Mesiroff@cs.com
  18. Well what HP are you looking for? and torque? I would go with a crane xe 240 its fairly cheap with in sane hp Chad
  19. G2 are great heads to me its just prefrence. I dont like the g2 as much do tto the fact that im used to the 23`s my bel air was pushing lots of hp when i used the 23`s on my 355. Chad

I dont know as much as mike c but i know a little, I personally would never go 215cc heads on a 350 however i would with a 400 sb, The best head for the buck is definately trick flows 23 degree trwisted wedge head they got 622 hp out of a 355 sbc using there 190 heads. The besat head of all is the afr but cost 600 more than the Twisted wedge and only adds 13 more hp on most applications. Chad

  23. I am however going to start my project soon. Can anyone tell me how much the 240`s weighed and also how they handled ive never actually driven one. But i am curious because it seems on paper like they were the king import in there day. How do they hold up to say bmw`s now?
  24. So i realize i need at least a 200 rear end. Where do i go about finding one? what is the ezest? can u buy them online? Also where do u find, buy the Q45 rear end and what year Q45 rear is needed? You guys have been great helps thanx to all of you.

Defineitely with out a doubt the centerforce dual friction is the best clutch made for street/strip use I have one in my bel air and it is the only thing that hasnt broken yet and im running 900 hp to the wheels. I use a jerico tranny. But its good to know your really going to drive the car and shift it rather than let it do the work and steer it. Chadly
