  1. Hey everyone, From the info I gather it seems that everyone puts a w58 or r154 transmission with their 2jz swap, unless you can afford a v160. So I was wondering has anyone put a R150 or R155 tranny behind a 2jz and can they handle any power? Around here its easier to find a truck tranny. From my research it seems like you can use a 1jz bell housing with either those 2 or the r154 transmission. Or if you can point me in the right direction for more reading that would be appreciated too.
  2. Thanks for the info on the polar momentum. So a midengined car would be better at smaller tight tracks like auto cross, an a Z is more stable at higher speed sweepers like laguna seca? This is the stuff I like to learn about, engineering theories in layman's terms. It makes learning fun!!! Sorry for the off topic.
  3. Sweet!!! glad you are still around. Post mucho pictures when get into the guts of it.
  4. common dude! You started the thread, get with the building!!!!
  5. could you explain more or repost the link? I just get directed back to the main page when I try to read up about it. From what I understand you want your center of gravity front and back side to side, and up and down to be centralized as possible. I would think moving the engine back this far would make it have more responsive handling.
  6. Looks good! I'd be proud to be driving that around!!
  7. Thanks for everyones opinion. From what I have read, the stock bottom end of the NA engines are pretty decent. Mine is out of a gs300 pre vvti, so I think it should last. I'll be beating the piss out of it at 400-450hp normally, with occasionally bumping it to 600. Yea 600 might be a little excessive, but when you are in 3rd on the freeway and you want to blow by someone, 600hp helps.
  8. Thanks, I went to wyotech and got to play around on the dyno a bit. I know first hand the benefits of tuning, I'm just dreading the bill. Around here a good speed shop is not anywhere close to cheap. I'm laying the ground work for that to be next years xmas present!!
  9. Thanks for the info. I want to build this for 450hp, but want to make sure it's good for 600hp just in case I get greedy and want to turn it up. I'm gonna have 8k in this car so I'm going to build up the na-t first and if it blows ill upgrade, but for now I'd rather spend the money on other parts.
  10. Hey, So I've been starting with building up my junkyard 2jz-ge while searching for a suitable shell. I've been researching and it seems that swapping the stock head gasket to a 2mm think gasket is enough to get the compression down to 8.5 to 1. A lot cheaper than pulling the pistons and getting low comp pistons. My question is have any of you guys done this? I'm looking to get 600 max hp out of this motor, so i want to make sure it can handle the boost (probably 18-20psi). Any input would be appreciated, I tried the search function but I didn't find anything. cheers, brian
  11. Just curious, how come they don't allow erw tubing in roll cages?
  12. Right on! hope it all goes well!! On a side note, it would be cool if there were a shop that you could take your car to and they would assign you a helper and give you a loan to finish your car project. That way you have someone to help you do all the tedious crap as well as someone to fund your project. Just a thought
  13. Just wondering what happened to his car? Read through the whole post for it to just stop!!
  14. Ok so it seems like the most performance would be to have two squirrel cage fans in front on the sides blowing air across the radiator. no blockage of air flow on either side, and the squirrels don't use any gas!
  15. I think what he was trying to say is that you could use it to spool up a big turbo so there is no turbo lag, not necessarily just running completely off the exhaust. It would be cool to see them be able to change the actuator profile, like a vetch. Like change the lift of the valves as well as the duration.
