  1. I dont go to the junk yard often but whenever I do, I dont find much 2 seaters BUT THANK GOD we have 2+2's.. im glad practically all the parts are interchangable.
  2. I would love to get at that intake manifold. Btw would those 3 injector looking things happen to be tbi or a methanol injection?
  3. yeah its better to be safe than sorry.. its best to do what pure pontiac said to do.. if you didnt cut enough, cut some more.. because once you cut too much, you cant go back..

  6. what do you drive cd?? I have taken basic engine performance and basic automotive systems tech class my junior and senior year of highschool [freshmen in college now] so i shouldn't have much of a problem then eh?

I gotta save before I start that l28et 240z project than.. my mom would trip if I leave my car in the back yard for a long time again. took me about 5 days to do the water pump lol.. worked on it for about 30 mins to an hour a day just before work. im glad I have a haynes manual hahah, best 25 bucks I ever spent.
  8. how easy are you talking about piston?? I mean, I have never done an engine swap before.. I am pretty familiar the engine components though
  9. I agree with you stravi.. i lvoe the body style of the s130.. but then i would hate to have a turbo s130 and not be able to smog it..wow im gonna have to have a real good sit down and really think about this one!

  11. well i can get 1 of both cars for about 3 grand.. maybe about 1 -2 grand will be spent on upgrades. I am currently a zx driver n/a engine and I love the body style.. I also am a big fan of the z and want to own one aswell.. being 18 working part time and going to school full time can be alittle stressful, especially when it comes to money and time.. I've only had my car for a year. there is NO DOUBT in my mind that when I get older and have much more experience with these z/zx's I will have a 240z with the turbo. From what I have read the turbo zx comes pretty fast stock, so if i had that, I can easily throw up the boost alittle, and install injectors, IC, etc. But than the 240 being light having the N/a Z engine should be quiet equivelant to the stock turbo zx??
  12. hey Z and ZX drivers!! I have recently been stumped by a problem that I have encountered. I had planned on buying a turbo zx soon, but then saw a 240z for sale. The Z had an l28 put into it. now I just wanted to know your opinions.. what would you choose? the l28e z or the l28et zx? I know turbo is the way to go and my heart is practically stuck on it, BUT I have heard numerous stories that l28 z's are really fast, especially when dual carbed with the whole intake/cam/header/ exhaust combo.
  13. 81 crank uses [CAS]crank angle sensor to fire plugs. unlike 82/83.
  14. i've just read some of the stroker threads and was wondering how much of a difference would it be if someone were to replace their stock crank for the diesel crank.. power wise would it be significant?
  15. So here i am now.. i managed to get it all together, but i actually grinded a few inches off the pipe that goes to the cat. [not sure if i was supposed to but i did, because i had no clearance] now im stumped wiht this question.. i can make the exhaust work IF i grind down that thing that the exhaust sits on.[just alittle so it fits] im not sure what that thing is exactly. anyways.. can someone give me some commentary on this?? would you recommend it or no?
  16. ohh am i whooped!! just got home from school and started working on my car.. took out the stock exhaust piping..[cutted it] gave me a hard time.. now im trying to figure out now to put this Msa exhaust together. so theres 3 pipes, 1 to the cat obviously, and 2 more.. which i am not sure which goes to which.. 1 looks like an "s" and the other is somewhat straight.. well im going back to try to figure this thing out.. ill check back in a bit. i am a noob, and am pretty fresh with this stuff.. so any help or advice will be put into thought.
  17. i looked in my haynes manual and i believe the n/a and the turbo routes the same way.. correct me if im wrong..

WOW!! i was sooo happy when my orders came from MSA[air dam and 2.5in exhaust system!!! now after looking at my part, it says 82-83 turbo exhaust. and i literally called the guy and asked for an 81 nonturbo exhaust.. the exhaust looks great.. I'd hate to go through the hastle of returning it and all so my question now is, will it FIT??

  20. i was trying to take my water pump out and it seems to not want to budge.. any tips on how to remove it?? i've been at it for about an hour now.. thanks!
  21. i've only had my zx for a year and i bought it for 1 grand.. i atleast put over 7 hundred total on it.. and it wasnt even on mods.. its all replacing parts. brakes, gaskets, lights, hoses. etc. my z is stock and i strongly believe i waste alot of time on it, but i love my car. so i think.. its not a waste really.. just do what you love to do..
  22. if you had to change the rheostat from changing analog to digi, then wouldnt you have to change the digi rheostat with the regular one? or just switch out the whole sending unit??
  23. so i can use an 82 or 83 ecu in my 81?? the whole dropping resistor thing confuses me.. must i alter it if i got have an 82 or 83 ecu to use it in my 81?
