Well I was thinking of doing the TT setup on a the 3.1L buildup (from the stock 2.8) ... What kind of power and drivability are we looking at? I know you can adjust the turbo boost from inside the car but I would still like to be able to run pump gas with those babys boosted up. Ideas/Suggestions and yes TT header pics and intercooler info and pics would be nice as well as detailed info on how it could be done and all that was needed. -

Hrmm.. my dad welds.. wonder if he could do it hehe.. I havn't a clue about fabbing piping or anything but I guess its always time to learn.. Any tips or tutorials out there ?? You guys rock thanks for the feedback so far for all my questions. (btw- what would I need for a 11 second car?) -
Hrmm... where did you get the rear skirt from or was it made? Also love the lights.. how about a detailed tutorial on how to do this.. The thing looks aewsome and I want to do it to my 83 280zx!

I was wanting to go the route of supercharging the 3.1 buildup engine because I am interested mainly in acceleration. How much would a turbo setup cost in comparison to a supercharger setup (like the JCR?).. Let me know! -
Hey there.. was looking at getting 280+ hp in my 280zx N/A .. I have been working with someone on the following intake/fuel setup: Clifford 6=8 intake (modified for torque and L28 hookup) Quad T-body with fuel rails 4 42lb O-ring injectors Microtech MTX-8 with programer and sensors Bosch fuel regulator Now, just this would run me around $2500 but how much do you guys think the power would be if I stuck this on a 3.1L N/A buildup engine. I was also considering a JCR supercharger if it would handle it with the 3.1L buildup or if I would blow something. Any thoughts on this would be MUCH appreciated as I do not want to spend precious dollars that I do not need to. I would love to run 13's in this car but most importantly I want a streetable fast take off car that will run on pump gas.. Any suggestions for the 3.1L buildup or the intake buildup / supercharger would be MUCH appreciated. Thank you all so much for your help and have a nice day!

OK.. I will throw this out here.. How about the older style (60s to 80s) corevette taillights with LED's? I was thinking maybe having a circle of white LEDs in the center of the light and then the outside out of the white would be red for brake and turn signal. Just have a diode and resistance set up for giving more power for when the brake is pressed. Is this possible? Any ideas or diagrams.. I was thinking like the old two cirle lights on each side and the inner ones would be the ones with the white backup lights and the outer would just be all red except for the missing center would be unlit to make it look similar to the other lights. Donno if anyone understands my giant run on but.. Let me know your ideas and what would be involved in doing this on a 83 280zx .. thx!

Hoping to get 280hp out of it.. N/A of course for now.. I want take off power.. not really high high speed.. Just wanna burn em off the line.. I am talking with someone about a nice custom intake setup with programmable EFI and such (4) 42lb O-ring injectors , Bosch regulator, Quad T-body with fuel rails, Clifford 6=8 intake, Microtech MTX-8 w/ programmer and sensors. This will be put onto a 3.1L buildup engine with F54 block and N47 (or N42 which is better) head. Any ideas or suggestions so far?

Anybody make a dual exhaust to hook up to the 6-2 headers w/ dual cats system for an 83 280zx? I just need either 2 pipes going strait back (I will put 2 bluestreaks inline) or one to the left side and one out the stock location in the rear. Anybody sell something like this or should I have it custom made? Also what size of pipes to run back? I have been told by several people in the racing industry and here at racing shops in town that there is no need for a larger pipe than what the exhaust ports are because it will not help anything if it is larger. Just wondering what your guys opinions are on this.. My bro has a 76 280z with lots of power and is running 6-2 headers w/ no caty and the dual bluesteaks on stock pipes going strait back to the stock location. The thing screams like crazy and just sounds like raw crotch rocket power! Anyways.. let me know. Thx

OK.. here goes I am going for the 3.1 buildup with injection. I am getting all the goodies such as ignition, coil, 240sx tb, hi-pro 8mm wires, and all that goodies.. I was wondering and never could find out what injectors to use on an engine like this and also how much HP / Torque to expect once I am done? Will I need to use an aftermarket EFI and what are advantages and costs to that or do I just need larger injectors or both? Pls let me know so I can plan The car is an '83 280zx N/A btw. I will be using F54 block and N47 head I believe unless you guys have any better opinions on the combination. Right now I have a P90 head and F54 block on my car but will be getting all the parts soon. Thanks for your help!

car feels like crap while driving and hard to turn etc with stock tires and rims.. I am going for choice #2 .. was wondering what I may want to replace the suspension with? I am looking at making a 250 hp+ street car in the long run.. I was thinking maybe Tokico Illumina or whatever but I don't have a clue what would give me a nice feeling ride with the handling good also.. any suggestions would be welcome!

Anybody heard of this? My brother pulled a dual bluestreak exhaust (basically straight through mufflers or resonators) off of a car in a salvage lot and stuck them on his 76 280z.. he stuck a nice looking header on his car at the time also. Have no clue what company made the header as far as I know. I was just wondering if anybody knew of a place where I could order the Blue streaks from? They are the strait pipe design and look like a blue buldge in the exhaust pipe, but his car sounds like a freakin crotch rocket and not like those wimpy civics and crap that run the "turbo" mufflers. This thing has real power and flow and was wondering if anybody knew where to get the mufflers/resonators or what header would fit a 83 280zx.. thx

OK.. here is my problem.. I have a 83 280zx that I bought from NC and drove it out here to Arizona.. My brother has a 76 280z .. In my car I feel everything every bump and pothole.. riding inside his car I can't feel a thing barely. I was wondering if there were any suspension differences between the 76 and 83 and if so, how could I make my 83 ride nicer? I am willing to put on performance/aftermarket suspension if it will help but I need guidance as to what parts would make my car feel better and not perform like these low rider pieces of crap that go down the road bouncing all over the place Let me know and thx for the help!

Is there a digital to analog converter or would an analog speedo hook strait up? Always wondered if it was truly digital or if you could just hook and analog right up or not.. Any ideas or help would be much appreciated!

oops.. forgot that part lol.. it is an 1983 280zx Limited Edition if that means anything special. Has the entire digital dash and the fuel guage and speedo are the two things I wish to replace most..

Any way to get a digital speedo that goes higher than 85 mph or could I replace that digital speedo in the dash with an analog one that has 140 or 160 or something? How would I go about doing that.. Thanks for all the help you guys!

Brake light stays on all the time

solved! it was the switch at the brake pedal not getting contact at off position. -
OK.. I need quick replies as how to fix the problem quick. I have to take it into inspection in the morning cause i only have a 3 day permit. Problem: brake lights stay on all the time tried pressing in button on emergency brake, didnt do anything only way to get them to turn off is to disconnect I believe it is the 3rd fuse down on the left from the top of the fuse box. I now have tail lights when driving, but no brake lights when pressing the brake. (probably becuase thats the brake light fuse) .. I need to know what would cause it to stay on and how to fix it quickly.. I am leaning towards the e-brake wire being crossed somewhere so I may need to know where to disconnect it at the source just for now at least.. so any details on where the other end of that wire goes would be appreciated. Thx

Any ideas of where to get information on this.. What I really want to do is make it a very quick street car that could compete with Vette's and the like. Already thinking of doing the 2.8L - 3.1L mods but am not a big mechanic and need lots of advice on how to go about doing things. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Is it possible to have a supercharger and a turbo on a 280zx? My brother presented me with the idea of having the super on a clutch system of some sort and it would kick off once it reaches a certain RPM range or something, and the turbo would take over.. is it possible to do this or even have both on a car and how would you go about doing this.. maybe even with some custom headers.. I may be dreaming but I hope it can be done.

Temperature is showing fine.. my car is an 83 280zx and has the digital dash. The top-left sensor light is the one that stays on.

OK.. another one.. what would cause the sensor light to come on... 2nd.. I cleaned the contacts on the head temperature sensor, but I was looking at places on prices for new ones and noticed nobody carries it at auto parts stores? Does it go by a different sensor name perhaps?

Hrmm.. could this cause the overflow to engage after only 5 minutes of idling? This happened the other day it seemed to heat up very quickly.
