that looks REALLY nice. For me this fixes the odd back of the 2+2 perfectly... oh boy, getting a 2+2 AND a gnose kit will be hell (for my budget)
-
Hey TonyD,
I actually meant putting a Gnose on a 2+2 as in the picture

hmm, maybe i got my shipping company wrong, but they said they will do the whole shipping, tax and packing. They asked me for a certificate of ownership (e.g buying contract) and a title copy, with the original title travelling with the car. Like i said, i offer those guys that there will be a shipping company picking the car up and that all money will be paid at that point. Anyways, some nice person from Reno offered one, professional seller though, i will send you guys pictures.
btw, has anybody recently done this?
-
well, at least i´m not imagining stuff....
last low was one i bought (clearly stated i would buy it, got shipping involved and called back next day for needed information) and the guy went silent for a week while selling locally despite being ok with exporting in the first place. Thing is, i have a shipping company standing by doing everything from pickup to unloading in germany. Stupid system with the checks though, no wonder nobody uses the over here ....ever.
Patience, yes, i anyways enjoy the hunt more than having it sit in my driveway probably due to the first part breaking being a financial nightmare over here. Thanks guys, appreciated
-
wow, that was fast
as TonyD told me (and yes, you are right) i should fly over and get one, but that has to wait till i get my Ph. D (thats the reason why i´m broke
), or till i find a nice conference over there (shame on me, i had the choice and took HK). Anyways, thanks! (little side note: i´m always surprised, i either meet super-nice helpful people or super xenophobic grumpy people, nothing inbetween^^)

Wow, i´d love to see this in person. I actually thought " hey that looks like holland" when i saw the houses in the back..... you aren´t close to Groningen by any chance?
-
@Nelsonian , the red one is ok i guess, the yellow one looks like it will be full of surprises
(since i´m faaar away from cheap parts, this will be fun. To illustrate the matter, there is ONE 280zx door on ebay rigth now for around 400$)
@ Dangerdan, it would be great getting an opinion on that car. Looks too far gone from the pictures but if i´m wrong that would be a good deal
in general, something in this category would be ok http://huntsville.craigslist.org/cto/4953372855.html (had more or less bought the car but seller decided to sell locally nevertheless, can´t really blame him )

Hello,
after months of CG fun, i´m still looking for a 280z 2+2 (75 or 76 vastly prefered but non-mandatory). I want something to fix up here in germany, so it should be complete and if possible so far unrepaired (read: no botched repairs ). Seller should be ok with export, but i will organise everything with no risk for the seller! For the seller this means only handing it over to a shipping company at the doorstep. Maybe somebody got one in their backyard and remembers it right now?
-
TOnyD is right (do i need to add the "of course
). Thing is, since i want a 2+2 with manual if possible, when and where to fly. One with original paint pops up rather seldomly. Anyways, this will be the route as soon as i find time to do so, till then it´s harassing people by phone......
-
Hi,
i may be a bit annoyed right now, but....how do you actually get somebody on CG to sell you a car? Already got advice from TonyD, but so far:
-nobody replies to mails , ok thats understandable
-nearly nobody pics up the phone (with adds being online weeks after) , as told, i could get an american skype number but if they don´t want to sell for export why trick them.
-if i get some response at all, people never send just the tinyest bit of information (except one nice guy from yakima)
-recently a seller made promises and all, i got shipping quotes, money ready, called back 2 days later (as communicated) and voila, nothing, doesn´t answer phone\mail\etc. but add is still online
is a "sorry, sold" message really to much to ask after i got a shipping company involved ????? Honestly, now i get why ebay cars are so much more expensive, at least then you get a chance of buying one... btw, been looking since fall, contacted (or tried to) nearly every 280z 2+2 which makes sense for exporting here to germany (due to shipping costs and financial limit i need good, not fancy). So,this was just to blow off some steam, back to craigslist.....

cool, found them, well just picked one ebay auction (with i guess ridiculous price included) http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-WESTERN-TURBINE-WHEELS-14X7-4-BOLT-114-3-BC-240Z-280Z-CHEVY-II-MUSTANG-/371005579319

wow, very nice
i´m more than a bit jealous. Have fun

jup, just a joke...looks like trash

well, those escorts need some stylish ride as well
...with hidden LPG i meant no visible 80l tank in the trunk (because that´s ugly and you get troubles with German classic car regulations) but one that fits into the spare wheel well. Basically by keeping the original looks of the car you get a discount on taxes etc. and a hidden tank gives you this + cheaper miles.

380SEL, sweet
i will put some thought into it. It may still be that i will just directly ship it to Germany.... many if´s right now. Just Pm´d Xander since he´s apparently living 200km away from me
-
hey,
thats what i heard as well, somebody in another forum said that cars from up north may actually be better, but since i don´t want a dozen and only have to find one....
Shipping with a motor inside is not possible (i guess) since no shipping company i know will accept the car for insurance ( bad weather while shipping and you have a motor tumbling around in your car). I would acutally pay them to remove everything from the engine block and leave the block there.
-
this one is also on my list once i find out why it´s labeled "not running" http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/4741616410.html
but the exterior picture looks VERY nice
-
Hey,
yes, the last one of your cars is really interesting for me, i tried contacting them this morning and some time ago. Would somebody want the "performance engine" if i get it? (no chance shipping it).
As is i´m quite afraid of bondo-bombers (it´s almost never done here). I will see what they will tell me.
Regarding Xander, don´t even think about buying it before me
I´m quite familiar with the dutch Oldtimer-traders (we had several snooks and live at the dutch border on the height of Groningen) and i´d like to get "my" car (apart from the one you linked being a 2.6 and i want the Jetronic and it being well over 20.000$ )
edit:
i actually live 60 km away from the Marktplaats one, and i think my father checked it out already. We also checked one in Maastricht a time ago but virtually EVERY PART looked decent from 10m away but was broken.
-
hey, thanks, i only knew that 77 had the raised back..... but 6\76 sounds like there is no stock one ^^
original plan was to combine a roadtrip with a purchase, e.g buy a car then drive it to a port over 1-2 month. But yeah, very few 2+2, but here they make more sense (longer wheelbase and 2 spare seats )
-
Hi all,
i´m browsing craigslist etc. for the last month trying to buy a Z (without luck). My Question right now is this.
I want a
-280z
-2+2
-ideally with 5speed original
-with spare tire (if i´m right later ones didn´t have a full tire) - this is to hide a LPG tank to make it driveable here in germany without crying when i´m on an autobahn.
-not repaired (most Us repairs on frames i´ve seen won´t pass german inspections, so better rusty than dead-repaired.
the problem, was the 5 speed availible on full spare tire cars? I just read that they increased tank volume on later years (77, 78) and that 5 speed became availible in 77.
....and if this car exists, anybody want to sell one
?
Thanks you all, i promise pictures once i get a car (will be my second vintage, first really own vintage car)

Hi,
is there somebody here in the Forum who can check out a car near Dallas? Since i´m in Germany (land of no z cars apparently) i would need someone to at least look at it once
so if somebody feels he wants do do a good deed feel free to drop me a message
many thanks in advance,
Richard
