  1. im sorry i didnt mean to come off like i believe everything he said, he doesnt like just about every car out there, his choices are basicly nissan and subaru. his gf drives a 1993 honda civic jerry riged together by a couple of mexicans (everythings done wrong every other bolt is over tightened) honostly i wouldnt mind a nice turbo s130, before he parted out his to mod his 240 (my room mate) i asked if i could barrow it for a while cus it looked like me and my mom needed to sell my car for bills (blah blah blah sorry for the life story) im still not sure how my 240 would look with a sunroof, (myspace.com/randomtrog2 to see it, its my default pic.) i will probably cut out a sun roof and try to picture it (you know place it on the roof and stare at it haha
  2. thats what i was thinking, i will probably just change them to arp studs. my room mates 240 has been only running like every other 2 months outa this year so far.... just a few months ago he put a schnieder stage 4 cam, and a l26 head on is l28. i dont think theres enough torque in a high compression 383 to snap them even if i could, im only aiming for about a 300-400 hp/torque level in my 240 (weekend car not daily drivin) thanks for the info. My room mate said that after a certain amount of horsepower/torque the 4 lugs will just snap, causing major problems. i was wondering if this was true. i was planing on putting a high compression 383 sbc in my 240z. also if he's right and the stock 4 lugs can not take over a certain horsepower/torque level, whats the backspacing on 80's 300zx brakes (to do the toyota 4x4/300zx brake swap) any help would be greatly apreciated, knowing me this is posted somewhere and my inability to think of the right magic words to search for the right threads via search button Thomas (i hope i spelled everything right)
  4. ok, thats all i was wondering, thanks for the quick reply, i thought itd look nice but sounds more trouble then its worth. i dont know bout that zx idea, my room mate says they aint worth jack didly, he used one he got for 500 or something like that for his l28/5speed and r200 parts car. thanks again for the quick reply Thomas
  5. I hope this is the right place to ask this. I was thinking about putting a sun roof in my 1973 240z and I was wondering if anyone has ever done it. I was thinking one like off a Honda civic or something nothing electric or anything, just something simple and some what stylish. I was also wondering what everyone “thinks†about that idea, if it would look ugly/stupid, or nice/different. I wont have ac in my 240z, so I figured windows down and sunroof open, would keep me a little cooler. Besides all that what kind of strengthening would I need to do to help the roof take the extra weight of the sun roof? Thanks in advance Thomas (friends call me either grib or gribble.)

  8. if i did that id run the oil cooler on the return line... with a pump right after the oil cooler so the oil still moves back to the block with pressure... (idk if they make oil pumps for purposes like that would be cool tho) do you think thatd work? or am i a noob thats getting before himself and dreaming things lol

  10. how wides the biggest you can run w.o widening the wheel well and flareing out the sides... i was wondering because i wanted to run some 10 inch mickey tompsons in the back on some 16inch rims... but now im thinking bout clearance.... not that my car will need them or anything but would be sweet to have lol or that my car has a motor or transmission lol

  12. thx i ordered the first 3 just now, ill order the last 2 next friday when i get paid again, i still have to go shoping, today me and my friend are ganna look at some v8's at his step dads property and see whats there lol thx for all the help youve been so far, my room mate (whos never built a v8 before mind you) is telling me i should get the biggest rods i can find and shortest stroke carnk i can find and put them in a 350 to be able to rev higher, but that doesnt seem right to me, will one of those books explain that so an idiot (me) can understand? or can you? (waiting 10 days for stuff off the net sucks lol) grib
  13. ok, that sounds good just slightly lower then my neon lol redlines at like 6,500 lol thanks for the info, im ganna order those books tomarrow when i get back from moving my 240 into a building right now its out in the open and its getting rainy lol
  14. thx , this comp wont load the first site you told me to read threw fully, gatta wait to have money to do the second part. but, do you know by chance how high a powerhouse 383 stroker revs? my friend, and room mate/z consultant is worried about power to rev ratio (as in wont rev high enough) and me not being able to get off the line, i know im probably asking alot of dumb questions, but it would help to know. my basic real want is as your signature says smokem at a 60 mph roll lol
  15. im new to this site, i read basicly this whole thread, and i had a couple questions, my hope is about 300 wheel hp more would be ok also 1. what is the stock combustion chamber on a 350? 2. i was thinking about using vortec heads (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM%2D151124&N=700+4294925232+4294908395+4294908216+4294838998+4294840140+4294867081+4294867028+115&autoview=sku) and i wanted to know what rods, pistons, i should use (forged, but cheap, good qual but cheap price) and cam? 3. if i followed exactly what you tell me to use what about or so would my comp ratio be? 4. what intake and carb would you use? im sorry if you answered a question similar to this already and i missed it, your help would be extreamly helpful. p.s. i wanted to say a co-worker said to use a 5 speed out of a turbo firebird (or something i have a bad memory) and swap the bellhousing to one out of a gen 3 camaro.
