  1. This is going to be my first method of action. I have access to a complete machine shop so even if the WRX journals are slightly larger I can mill them out. I don't plan on buying a whole new shaft and everything, seeings the u joint is the only bad thing on it. Thanks for everyone's replies
  2. Does anyone know where I can get the small U-joints that are in the steering linkage? I've looked all over the net but I can't seem to find any information on them. I punched mine out and all the needle bearings are flat
  3. I hope you're referring to the tie rod end itself?
  4. Does anyone have spare tie rod end left and right hand thread nuts? Mine got tossed and I need new ones. The cheap tie rods I bought didnt come with them
  5. Haha! Looks like you had quite a time. Thanks for the great link, it answers everything I was going to ask
  6. I once saw on ebay a Z with a rear window that looked exactly like a Pantera; the sides were high and there was a cavity in the back with a vertical window. I'll look on my hard drive and see if I saved the picture.
  7. Yes, just to be different. I'm also going to see if I can relocate the gas filler neck to underneath the license plate, as well as a few other things.
  8. Yes, this would be my primary and pretty much sole concern. Having a fuel cell up top and mounting the tire underneath is a great idea too. Glad I posted this question, I got some different angles now Keep the suggestions coming!
  9. Has anyone here ever done/considered this? I'm restoring a '71 and one of the ideas I have is to make the car a fastback instead of a hatchback. I replaced floorpans and parts of the subframe with heavier gauge metal, so the car is stiffer than it was stock, and I'm putting the L24 back in the car next year. My main concern is what the torsional effects of driving the car may have on the rear window if I do in fact decide to mount it permanently. Or should this not be a concern? Thanks.
  10. I'm well on my on a resto for my '71, and I have the heater box completely out and taken apart. All the foam rubber is rotten/gone, some of the cables are broken and the heater core leaks like a sieve. Has anyone successfully used an entire heater box from a different car for one of these 240z's? Something with a better fan and improved flow? I have a lot of fabrication skills and practise, so knowing what box from what car will fit under the dash would be a very useful bit of information for me It's kind of something that you can't really use trial and error for, ya know? If all else fail I will follow bjhines' thread step by step 8)
  11. All I'm doing is trying to get around 20 hp more than he stock L24, the car is only gonna be a nice weekend cruiser anyways. I'm not aimed at doing anything hi performance, I just wanted to be more informed on what was going on. I'm mainly planning on a bore job to clean up the cylinder walls (somebody did an awful hone job on it already) but I'll ask the machine shop guys what they think before I start shelling out cash anyhow.
  12. Thanks The pistons indeed read 0.50. I feel like such a putz. 0.040 pistons are available all day long so that's what I will probably go with. Thanks again.
  13. I have an l24 that's in rough shape and in the process of a rebuild... I've read that an overbore of 0.078 is safe with these motors with little modification... when I stripped the motor down I saw that the pistons were stamped " 0.050." I'd like to have the walls shaved to fit some new pistons. My questions are, is .055 or .060 over safe for a mild build on an l24? I've seen pistons around for .020 and .040 all over the place; where could I get a set for 50+ thousandths over? Thanks in advance
  14. I found a body harness... anyone have or even know where I can buy the engine bay harness??
  15. I need a complete engine bay and body harness for a '71...
  16. Sorry, my mistake, I need the white housing that mounts to the panel (and it turns out I don't need the panels anymore) Sorry for the confusion!
  17. I need both of these and the panels they go into (black dragon doesn't carry the panel)
  18. This is the kind of thing I like to see! A true do-it-yourselfer and it looks like its coming out very nicely. What gauge steel did you use for the pans and the rails you fabricated?
  19. Thanks for the post! Man my fabbing looks phenomenal right about now
