  1. How do the 550cc injectors work in a stock na l28? Does the car idle ok or was it difficult to tune with those big injectors? Also were they Low/High impedence? Just wondering I am doing a similar build to you.
  2. I didn't know you could adapt an E46 tranny to a 2jz, thatvwould work great. With a little searching I saw adapters for 350z/370z's but I have heard theyre unreliable. I'm sure I could get a nice 6 speed for cheap, those cars are pretty common in the US.
  3. Just wondering what you guys think... It's gonna be a while until I can afford the swap at least 5 years when I'm done with college and hopefully have a job. How long until these engines will start to be more scarce and expensive?
  4. I realize that this is not a great forum to post this on, but... My cars viper alarm system is acting up. Today the remote was not linking to the car at all when i tried to unlock it. Then i tried unlockig the hatch and going in through there. Usually, when I do that, the alarm goes off due to motion sensors, but that didnt happen this time. Now, the car won't start because it disabled the starter for some reason. I don't have any time today to look at this, but does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this. the car is my daily driver, a 77 280z. I don't care at this point if i have to tear out all of the parts of the alarm system, but i did't install this, the previous owner did, so I have no idea about where everything is or how to do it. Any helpful tips on how to make the starter work again is greatly appreciated. Thanks
  5. I called Liberty Mutual and they kept putting me on hold so I figured I would post my question here before I call again. My question is, does an engine swap increase the cost of liability? Let's say I swap an rb25 or ls1 into my 280z and crash into someone else, and I never told my insurance company about the swap. Would insurance pay for the other persons damages or would they drop me after seeing I have an engine with twice as much hp as a stock l28. Searching online i have seen mixed answers. Some people say that liability insurance only pays attention to the car, not the engine, so I don't even have to tell them about the swap. I'm not worried about my cars damages being covered in an accident because I don't have collision anyway. I'm under 25 years old, so I already pay a ridiculous amount for my insurance and don't want to pay any more if I don't have to.
  6. Thanks for clearing that up.
  7. Do you need a CLT, or is the IAT enough for an NA l28? Is the CLT only used for turbo'd cars? -Thanks
  8. A lot of times when I downshift from 4th to 3rd I get a sound almost like tires chirping. It can't be that though because I'm shifting around 2000 rpms. I also get the sound sometimes when i just rev the engine in neutral. I think it is something with the rear diff Or in the tranny. The car is a '77 280z with r200 diff Any Ideas?
  9. Someone in my area is selling a rx8 throttle body. I think they have a 3 inch bore, but not sure. You guys think it will fit my intake manifold? Its a '77 280z with a n47 head. Any input is appreciated. Thanks
  10. So i'm planning my megasquirt build and I'm confused about the IAT sensor. The engine is mostly stock L28. It has a K&N intake and a 2.5 inch exhaust welded onto the stock manifold. For now I am just doing fuel only. I'm keeping it n/a for a while too. I was planning on using a pvc or metal pipe to replace the AFM and install the IAT there. What should I use to seal on the sensor? Probably some kind of silicon right? Is there a better spot to mount the sensor? I want to avoid welding. Probably a simple question but I couldn't find much on it. Thanks
