  1. Thank you for posting all this good info. I finally picked up my F150 axles at an O'Reilly's distribution store, and they came out to $55.99 each, part # 60-2112 (remans), but with limited lifetime warranty. $10 core charge each, and $10.99 tax. They have the Ford stamps on them. However, I found an incredible bargain for the Intrepid hubs at RockAuto so ordered from there...$36.51 for two, and that includes $8.99 shipping.
  2. I searched the topic, but didn't find mention of Tokico. Is there anything that would prevent use of the Tokico 5-way adjustable struts with this kit? I think this is a good picture of the Illumina BZ3013 rear 280z strut I currently have in my car. Oh shoot, it looks like the dimensions are way off... Product Dimensions 27.5 x 3 x 3 inches Whereas, the Koni part shows... Extended Length: 21.260''' Collapsed Length:15.240'' Body Diameter: 1.713'' What are the exact dimensions of the custom strut tube?
  3. Thanks for that idea, @bramagedained I'm also wondering if I can get the TTT big rear brake kit to work with Will's kit since I have 15x8 Weld Draglites, 5.5" backspacing. That one has an e-brake option. https://technotoytuning.com/nissan/280z/rear-big-brake-kit-240z-260z-and-280z
  4. Does anyone think this kit would work with Will Fritt's Ford 8.8 IRS diff kit, in place of the Wilwood 12.2" rotors? I have need of an e-brake and use 15x8 Weld Draglites with lots of negative backspacing.
  5. Great writeup with pics, thanks for sharing. I'm finally gathering up parts now to go at it. Question: Could that bolt be worked without putting a hole in the spare tire well? I've got a '75 with the same type as a 260z I think. Something I guess I am just realizing after re-reading this thread and looking for parts...I guess there is a parking brake delete when going with Wilwood stuff? If so then I'll need to do something different. I gotta have a parking brake. :/
  6. I went to car-part.com and found a local yard selling a few...picked up a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer "3L73" IRS 8.8. It's at the shop getting gears. Same shop that will be making my driveshaft later
  7. Haha I've been here for awhile. Oh, and I got it punched out to 427 after sleeving, and less compression. My build took 2 frustrating years. The current setup should've been for last year, but oh well I'm glad I got to drive it for a little bit last week. But on topic, I'm glad to see this is picking up again...hope I'm not too late!
  8. I picked up a '73 240z and had problems getting the shifter in gear at stops. Made an adjustment from 6 free threads to 4 on the screw/bolt and got completely locked out so I went the other way to 8 free threads. That worked great until I guess the system heated up during downtown light to light driving. It needed more adjustment. Hope that helps in some way?
  9. Wow! I'm so late seeing this topic... Excellent initiative, great engineering, outstanding work, good communication, follow through, etc. Not sure I understand everything, but I've read it all and am ready to dive in and work out the details if you're going to do a second run, wfritts911. Did you ever get a weight on the whole assembly? How does it compare to the stock assembly? The Q-45 setup? PM sent as well!
  10. Man, I haven't been here in quite awhile and came upon this first thing tonight. Very sad turn of events. I bought some parts from him about 4 yrs ago. May he rest in Peace
  11. Wowi!! Niiice How much power/torque is it putting down? Weight? How much do you weigh? lol
  12. I don't have any good direct pics of the new stuff installed, but here are a couple of albums with various shots. I just uploaded some for this post: http://s1133.beta.photobucket.com/user/ls30w00/library/Tx2k12%20Prep http://s1133.beta.photobucket.com/user/ls30w00/library/280Z%20Stub%20Axles http://s1133.beta.photobucket.com/user/ls30w00/library/1977%20280Z%20Pics You can see just the outside hub and new studs here...just uploaded: http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m589/ls30w00/280Z%20at%20SAR%20Midnight%20Madness%2020121222/DSC01136_zps9f9b0bb1.jpg Yes. Still working on that ideal balance between bog and spin for this setup...looks like somewhere around 3500
  13. Thanks! I'm using the old school method, relying on tach and sound of the engine. The tires seem to fit better than the ET Streets, 26x9.5-15 vs 235/60-15. With the Tokico 5-way adjustable struts set to the highest setting, and with the fenders rolled, only on the worst bumps and dips did the 235s rub a little. That was easily controlled by being observant of the road ahead though. The rear wheels are 15x7 and came from the '77 Z I had bought from a member here. He used to run 235 ET Streets at the track and did pretty good, but I don't really know the offset or anything. I got the 17" wheels with the 225 Nitto NT01's from MotorSport Auto and they have "standard offset" for stock z-cars. Those don't rub the fenders at all. As for the spray, it's a 150-shot which can be safely used on pump 93 gas with a little octane boost. The timing box does all the work so I have full performance on and off the bottle...dyno-tuned on the 150-shot. With the window switch set for 4400, I (as in we, me and my driver mod haha) only need to launch less aggressively and be ready to shift as soon as it kicks in while in first gear! We still don't have this technique down very well, but there is only room for improvement. I hate pro-tree too, but I've managed to cut some decent lights in my automatic cars before.
  14. Got back to the track last night, and all the diff parts and support held together on some brand new Hoosier QTPs...even on a 5-grand launch which was a little too much. First ever 10-sec pass on the motor! Vid1: Vid2: Timeslip: With that major goal out of the way, moved on to some bottle passes and here was the last, best, and scariest! Vid1: Vid2: Timeslip: I'm so happy that the clutch and new axles held up to whatever we threw at them and the car began to explore some of its potential. Thanks Chequered Flag Racing!
  15. 183 according to Garmin GPS on an straight empty road, no traffic at all n the middle of the night. The hatch flew open so I let off. 3.54:1 gears, 235-60/15 ET Streets, T-56 5th gear. There is a video. Edit: I'm sorry. I didn't realize this topic was in the Gen I & II section. Disregard
  16. Can any ideas be gleaned from hybrid FD RX-7 kits? I've got an FRPP 3.73 trac-lok "Cobra" diff in my T'Bird and it would be nice to able to use the same in the Z. I hope you can figure this out. More power to you.
  17. Just watched the vid. Reminds me of when I drove the green Z in the vid I posted from California to Texas. I ripped out half the sound system so I could fit my luggage + the ET Streets, one in the back and one on the passenger seat lol!
  18. Dammmm should be able to launch at 6-grand endlessly with these swaps (see vid link below). I broke in June and now you broke, Idunno what's going on.
  19. Oh? Are Mexico runs allowed here? Nice times! You are where I want to be with the 60' and 1/8 ET. So far I'm around 1.9 and 7.5, but now with the new stub axles I'm hoping to get there on my next trip out!
  20. No all my problems up to now have been with the adapter bolts backing out or the CV axles popping out. Hopefully the diff continues to function well.
