  1. He was just seen on Discovery this weekend (8/28 or 8/29) in all his glory, winning a Bike-off.
  2. Well, first of all I'm glad you survived and remain in the land of the living. I would say low 15's are very possible for a naturally aspirated L28. Header, Flowmaster, cam, Centerforce, K&N panel filter, big throat tb, and bigger fuel injectors got me there before I went V-8.
  3. I think I just saw it. It came about two minutes in. You blink, you miss it. Saw it again at 4 minutes. Another glimpse.
  4. It didn't happen to look like this did it?
  5. Hey, a guy can dream can't he? I was hoping to find something closer to the price you paid. I might just have to do a 2nd gen LS-1 instead. Are you talking about that yellow one? The one owned by the kid whose family owned a body shop on the Northwest side? I remember that one. How'd the race go though? I don't recall that.
  6. Ahhhhh man, mas you're always getting deals. I was JUST looking up 3rd gen '93 RX-7's last Saturday in the Autotrader last week and they were going from $13,000 to $18,000 still. My goodness. http://www.hinsonsupercars.com/project_car.htm
  7. I'll tell you...my dream Z is actually in existence. It's owned and built by mas28O and he's driving it around California right now.
  8. No, thats not it. The Z Shop was operating in San Antonio in the '80's, but then they got on the evening news when a customer or acquaintance of Lee Sheets the owner blasted the place up with a shotgun. He survived that and the business stayed open, but later they changed the name to "Z-Car Center" and moved outside of the city limits, still within Bexar County though. Shortly after I had finished spending thousands of dollars to get my inline-6 all fixed up, they went out of business. They hooked me into spending all that money with the promise my car would be fast. I wasn't too impressed with the performance for the money I paid, and then within a couple of months, the engine blew up. I said forget it, and my good friend mas28O showed me that a Chevy V-8 Z was possible and would give me the performance I was looking for with much less money spent. If I had only known, I could have saved about $3500 for the big throat throttle body, the hand-ported head with shaved cam-followers, the bigger fuel injectors, the high-rev/no-torque cam, the manual 5-speed from a '77-'78 Z, the centerforce clutch assembly, the 6-into-2 long-tube header, the flowmaster muffler, all those U-joints and half shafts, etc., etc., and not to mention all that labor and extreme markup. They made a killing off me I'm sure. I must have been the source for many laughs there behind my back for being such a sucker back then. I never took it to the track, but looking back at the performance, I don't think it was much better than 16 seconds in the 1/4. It was somewhere around 15.6-15.8 I'd guess. After he saw that I was disappointed in the performance, Lee Sheets was no longer my "friend" and refused to talk with me at all when I came in. Oh, but he got my minimum-wage money courtesy Long John Silver's over many many months. Of course this situation is nowhere near the fraud that was committed against ViperKiller Dave, the subject of this post. I just read how it looks like Tom Thompson at AMP seems to be offering Dave his money back and core block IFF he can prove they owe him money. They don't believe they owe him anything and are basically daring him. They think that because he hasn't shown itemized proof yet that he can't prove it at all. I think he's just being very patient and detailed in his handling of the case. I'm expecting him to post up the proof, and then they will refuse to accept it. Oh well. That's what lawyers are for I guess. And yes, the only reason I can keep up with this is because I am a bored car enthusiast browsing car boards.
  9. He should have taken the freebies. Speaking of poor customer service, has anyone heard of the names "The Z Shop", "Z-Car Center" or Lee Sheets?
  10. http://forum.1320stangs.com/index.php?showtopic=5555&st=0 Didn't want HybridZ left out of the loop.
  11. I usually don't care as long as I'm not sleeping or not dressed or something. If I'm dressed enough, I'll just answer the door and see what they want. Sometimes I'll even buy some chocolate bars with almonds to help a student's cause, or argue with the kingdom hall folks about the Bible, or give a cup of water to a Christian evangelist, or just say no to someone selling something I don't want. It's no big deal to talk to people at all.
  12. Outstanding, mas! Did you get the tires yet? What's the news?
  13. OK, got it. It took a little longer than I'm accustomed to @ 15.5K/sec.
  14. Same here. It was January of 1985. I missed the "snow" talked about above due to something called sleep, but when I woke up there was a white coat of ice all over the grass and especially my car. I almost lost it on the freeway that morning, but driving skills sure fixed that. Ho hum
  15. Both links are broken. Is there a new one?
  16. The exact thing happened to me in my Z with front spoiler but going around 40mph. It split my fiberglass spoiler in half. It was sad watching the dog limp off the road sans guts to go die next to a Church building. I couldn't do anything to help it. My front spoiler was off the car for years before I finally had it repaired and painted. The car looked pretty shabby with the body kit on but missing the front spoiler. I don't know if you can tell in the pics though.
  17. I didn't even know what a Paris Hilton was until just now after I looked it up on Google.
  18. That's what I usually do because of the search nazis. But then every now and then I get the "Thread Resurrection" nazis decrying an old thread being brought back to the first page.
