  1. Cabo, I had my Factory Five at Knott's several times, it now lives in Hawaii. I'll actually be coming with the Arizona Cobras, of which I am one of the origional members. Look for a YELLOW! Ferrari with a Edelbrock equiped Ford 5.0. See you there, Bill
  2. I am 58 also. Anyone going to Knott's next weekend? I'll be there with my new Ford powered 250 GTO. Bill
  3. John, I am just finishing up my McBurnie 250 GTO. I went with a 350 HP Ford 5.0 and Tremec TKO II trans. The car will be at Knott's Berry Farm next weekend for the kit car show. If you are really serious about a kit car, this show is the largest kit car show on the west coast. I live about 25 miles from the Vintage restoration shop in Prescott Valley that builds nice cars. His email is Ferrari@theriver.com. Bill
  4. I fired up the 302 in my 280Z / Ferrari 250 GTO for the first time - just turned the key! Experience is a great teacher. Specs: 89 Mustang block, 9.5/1 compression Edelbrock 7521 air gap mintake & 1406 carb, 6025 heads, motorsports B303 cam, etc. Sounds really great. Bill
  5. The trin helps hold the shape of the top corners of the windshield gasket. The gaske on my Z was so hard that I had to cut it with a utilty knife to get the windshield out. Bill
  6. As soon as I can figure out how to post pictures I will. Bill
  7. I'll have my newly completed (or at least 95%) Thunder Ranch 250 GTO at Knott's April 22-24. Actually, I'll fire it up tomorow - 375 HP 302, Tremec TKOII tranny, Painless harness. Dayton wire wheels said that the wheels will be here on time for the show. Hope to see you there, Bill oldcarnut@direcway.com
  8. I am installing a 350-400 H.P. 302 & Tremec TKOII in my 77 280Z / Ferrari 250 GTO. I live 25 miles north of Prescott. The car went for paint today. I have been building cars for years and I finally decided to have someone else paint my car. My Factory Five 427 Cobra had the 93 5.0 engine and tranny, ran perfectly for the 5 years I had it! Yes I have a 239 Ford Ford Flathead in my 47 Ford pickup. Bill
  9. I was able to make a mount that is pretty simple and cheap. Use 69 Mustang motor mounts. If I could, I would post some pictures. Bill
  10. Jess, I am doing the Ford swap. The Ford engine is lighter and can be set back further than the Chev.. The Chev has the distrubitor in the back, the Ford in the front. I guess the Chev swap started the whole thing because the engines are cheap to buy and modify! Bill Gildersleeve 280Z 400 Hp 302, Tremec TKO II, Ferrari 250 GTO body, etc. etc.
  11. Here are a couple of pictures of the motor mount for my 280Z / Ferrari 250 GTO kit car. The vibration damper is 3/4" above the steering rack. The steering shaft clears the mount by about 1 inch! Use a 1969 mustang motor mount. I am sure it fits tons of 289 & 302 applications. Auto Zone sells them for $15.00 ea. Bill As soon as I figure out how to attach the pictures I'll do it!
  12. I built FFR #1180K in 1977, it was the 180th one made. Drove it for 5 years and sold it to a guy in Hawaii. I am now building a Ferrari 250 GTO replica witha 350+ hp 302 with a Tremec TKOII tranny. Has anyboby thought of using a Mustang II front end? You don't have to worry about the struts and the power steering bolts right on. Bill
  13. One of the first things that I heard about racing is that "there is no substitute for cubic dollars". Or how much money do you have, how fast do you want to go? Bill
  14. Six years ago, I needed a 5.0 donor car to build a Factory Five Cobra replica. All Mustang in PHX can part out whatever you need. I got a parted out 6 or 7 year Mustang w /39,000 on the clock for $3000.00. This included the engine, tranny, front "K" member with suspension wheel to wheel including the wheels, all wiring complete rear suspension, steering, gas tank, gauges and a ton of other stuff. All of this without a yard ornament to piss off my wife and neighbors. http://WWW.Allmustang.com Bill
  15. Summitt racing has their own brand of block huggers for $100.00. the look pretty good and they FIT! Bill
  16. I am installing a Tremec TKO II in my 77 280z / Ferrari 250 GTO. The engine I am installing has about 370 ft lbs of torque, too much for the t-5. Bolts right in except you need the Tremec bell housing that is 3/4 inches longer. Bill
  17. I have the fuel pump and dampener from my 77 280Z. Interested? Bill
  18. I found a diagram for a pushbutton door handle for the GTO kit. Now that I have built the mechanisms, I can't locate the Honda part number (056120-9) referenced on the diagram. HELP! Bill
  19. Bill, Sounds like a plug in the oil passages in the engine. I bought a 280Z that sat for a few years, got it running, then the cam/lifters were dry. Turns out the oil had turned to wax and blocked everything. Bill
