  1. Front springs are a 125lb spring rate. I've got just about every bolt on I can get. I've got PRC stage 2.5 truck heads on there. CNC ported with biggie valves. Fast 92mm intake and PTM 92mm throttle body, Magic Stick 3 cam with a 113LSA, Dual 3" exhaust with an X pipe. 36lb / hr. injectors. I would guess I'm making somewhere in the 450 hp range. I'll be getting it dynoed sooner then later. I'm at the point where the next mod is going to get expensive, stroker motor... Super charger... Nitrous? Turbo again? Hahaha

Ok so this was done NA. I love it. Go nitrous man the stock bottom end can take a 100-150 shot no problem and it's cheap. I'm hoping to run 10s NA as well and 9s with juice.

  2. Those are some awesome pics! Of course I don't mind you posting my times / video's. That's what they're there for.

I've got some 26 x 8.5 x 15 Mickey Thompson ET drags mounted on some stock wheels. I'm using the MT tubes as well, along with some summit racing wheel Bolts to keep the rim from spinning inside the tire. Rear suspension is Tokico blue struts with QA1 175lb spring rates. The springs are sitting on some Cosmo coil over adjustable sleeves. And diff set up is the Q45 with custom axles.

Chris had a SERIOUS launch before his car broke. I swear, one more mm and the front tires would be off the ground.

Very nice! What mods do you have done and how much power are you making? What are your front spring rates?

  3. when i said bondo i meant that every car has bondo before a new paint job. if you have ever watched chip foose's show those high dollar redos have bondo skim coats and boyd coddington cars have skim coats.no one has seen mycar so i don't know how he can make the statement that it needs a rocker.it needs the dogleg and thats it, and it is supplied.i have had 21 zcars through the years starting in 1977 and i can honestly say this is a very solid car to restore or hotrod.it would cost more to send to california for a car than to buy this one and redo.this has none of the typ. zcar issues like rust in the floors, rust in the quarters, rust in the roof, rust under the hatch, rust in the rails, rust in the bottom of the doors, rust in the spare tire well, or rust in the battery area!! the car needs to be seen before you listen to talk about how bad it is.i will be home on or about the 23rd. call and leave your number and i'll call you with directions to poughkeepsie. i am going to bear mt. tonight for the cruise if you would like to meet me.that is about half hour from you if your in north jersey. look for the orange 260z. mike 845-485-4840

Mike please let me know when you get back from vacation and I will go look it over. Thanks.

  4. well I currently have a sr20det powered s13 [240sx] but I'm trying to get it swapped into a 75 Z, I didn't really want to race you but I had thought of the ls1 swap also, but since I do have parts for my sr20 already id thought id be just as logical to stick with my current motor. my friend raced him w/ his old turbo setup [honda] so if he had trouble beating a FF car then I'd think you'd have a good chance. ls1>lt1 even with his spray I think its really a battle of traction which I think his car does poorly in. If this does happen to go down I wouldn't mind watching. Hopefully I'll have my Z car by then. lol. I'd definately suggest you change your rim/tire combo if you plan on running anyone. also are you running any type of lsd?

If set up properly an FF car can hook trust me.

  5. The 86x86 is a perfect motor to rev high as it is a square motor. People have revved the sr20 really high. All that needs to be done is build the bottom end(pistons, rods, steel sleeves) and head (solid lifters, big cam, springs, retainers, etc) to support the revs and actually have a cam/turbo setup that will make power up there. No sense in revving 10k+ unless you are going with a 70mm+ turbo imo.

  6. Alright so I did a little more research. I just wish I had the parts now to measure but this is what I have decided on:

    Rear: 17"x12" wheel, 5.25" backspacing, -32 offset, 315/35 tire

    Front: 17"x10" wheel, 5.25" backspacing, -6 offset, 275/40 tire

These would probably sit flush with 280ZForce's super wide flares. What do you guys think? Is a 5.25" backspacing doable with AZC coilovers?

  7. Well I am a long ways before I slap on some wheels on my 240 but I pretty much know what I want on everything else and would like to decide now what wheel setup I want so I know what size flares to order. I will be going with the Arizona coilovers, Arizona 4-piston front brakes 5 lug and the MM 240sx rear calipers with the MM 5 lug stub axle. I want watanabes and don't know what size I want nor can fit. So here are the questions:

    1. What is the smallest diameter I can fit over the Arizona front brakes and 240sx calipers?

    2. If I were to go with a 8 inch wide front and 10 inch wide rear, what offsets would I require and what size flares would sit flush?

    3. If I were to go with a 10 inch wide front and 12 inch wide rear, what offsets would I require and what size flares would sit flush?

Thanks in advance. I have attempted to search but really couldn't come up with a definitive answer. These will pretty much be a custom order and I want to get it right if I'm going to drop 2500+ on a set of wheels.

  8. Dave took care of me and sprayed my intake this weekend. This is what it looked like when done:

This looks way better than I thought it would! I really really do like it!

So, this weekend I was able to pull my crack free dash out so Joe (rags) and I can get started on it to clean up wiring and get it ready for the new car....well my lil sister was placing her pc in the car this weekend and dropped it on the dash...therefor the dash now has a hole in it  Sh*t happens I guess...I was very upset seeing that this is the second dash I lost in a month or so. Didn't yell at her though I know she didn't mean to. Back to the Z, I thought I can use the brake booster from the 73 on the 71...I knew the 73 was bigger but didn't realize it mounting points were different too. So I need to paint the 71 booster and get it installed. Also plan to do the pulley and intake during the week.

Had a problem with the JCI pasn side mount...after about 6k miles the mount was torn:

I called....answer was due to the fact I was using the compression of the motor to stop the car help break the mount :icon56: Anyway ordered a new one $14.50 and now it is here....I plan to go to the local parts store and figure out what model car it comes from...pic and part number coming soon.

That intake looks really good. Sucks to hear about the mount. Is there anyway to reinforce it? Because it sounds like you will just continue to break it.
