  1. That color look sweet. Nice looking car.

I'm actually starting to like the color but I already have my color choice made up. Magno cashmere white in a matte finish like the SL63 IWC edition. Should complement the carbon fiber nicely.

Nice find! Question though...what is that second pipe hanging out of the rear??

Haha good catch. One of the previous owners routed the exhaust that way because of exhaust fumes getting into the car. I dont care as it will get ripped out anyways. I guess they didnt know that replacing all the seals would help :icon56:

  2. I just realized I never posted pictures of my 240z on here! Well here she is. I had been looking for 10+ months for something like this. EvilZ was very helpful in the hunt for the right car and I can't thank him enough. Plans as of now is to have the LS1/T56/Q45 r200 swap completed by start of summer. I will drive it with the stock motor until the year after where I will proceed to pull the ls1/t56 build it for ~450whp and have the car painted. That's the plan for now and I will try not to diverge from it lol.

  3. i kind of want to do a fuel cell, mostly cause i think they are bad ass and i like the idea of having a new tank and such. Jeff came to check out the car, he said im pretty good to go, minus the boards and rails, which i planned on replacing anyway so yea, next weekend im gonna bring the entire interior to bare metal, and order boards/rails/anything else i should do at same time. I wanted to start cutting out the boards, and have as much of the work done needed so when the welder comes to my house, he just has to drop in and weld ( might have a pro weld guy through a friend do a house call). Lemme know anything i should be aware of, i saw some pics of floor boards, the very end has no tab up, does that weld along the straight line?

Yeah man you lucked out. Although it will be interesting to see how far up the bondo/fiberglass rides up the quarter when you remove the molded flares. Hopefully it isnt bad other than that it's pretty good.

    Order up the floors! http://www.datsunzparts.com/NewParts/summary.htm

  4. For anybody who actually thought this was a 280z or late 260z you have got to be kidding, if somebody went to the work of fitting 240z or early 260z tails into a 280z or late 260, that would be nuts. I like z cars and all, but not that much to be dedicated 240z style. Dash is also 240z dash. Also I think the seat mounts are a little different. Look for the things that make it a 240z not that make it not a 240z. If that made any sense at all.

    Nobody thought that.... it's a 240z with 260z doors...

  5. I apologize in advance if this has been discussed before but the search rendered me with no results. I am looking to order MM 280z 5-lug billet stub axles, billet companion flanges, and moser axles for a q45 rear end setup, however, I would feel much more comfortable ordering through a person and not a website given their extremely long wait times. I have tried emailing them a few times and have received no response. Does anyone know how to contact them?

Also does anyone know what tq rating the stubs and axles are rated for? Thanks in advance guys.

Edit: ignore the extra 'from' in the title :icon45:

  6. Jeff you have a pretty good idea now on where on what to look for. Peter just come up with a solid game plan and stick to it. It will be worth it in the end. Double your time and budget! ;)

I have been taught well

I agree with Clive, really do your homework before you start buying parts and set a goal. Then estimate a budget. All it will be is an estimate. So much more little crap that adds to get a project car DONE. I have been searching and doing homework for almost a year now and I still haven't bought a single part yet (well except the donor car).

  7. Door panel shows that it has a 260/280 panel.

Before everyone goes crazy about rust and stuff. Like Dave said, be sure to check that the car is SAFE. I will not be around for two weeks but if Jeff comes by you to look it over I am sure he can help you out by looking at the known rust areas. You just don't want to start throwing money at a car that has major rust. So after you confirm rust is just in the floors, you can come up with your plan on motor swap and flat black paint job. If you are still talking about going LSx then I would swap the motor in and get it all running and working first. Once you are happy with the way she drives and running...pull it all out and do your paint.

This is the way I went with my 73 --> 71 swap.

Yeah I'll stop by and assess the car although you would probably find more than me. I'll show up with my screwdriver and magnet
