  3. What is the best ignition system for the money on a L28. The motor is bored, ported, triple carbs and exhaust system. I think that I should improve the stock set up , but not sure how far to go. Jim
  4. I have a L28 in my 260z. It is bored, head ported street/race cam, triple carbs, exhaust header and exhaust. I just was wondering if I would benefit in power by upgrading the only engine factor that is stock(coil + spark control. Jim
  5. Does a hi performance ignition sysytem make much of a difference?
  6. Putting a muffler on it will probably greatly reduce backfiring. There are mixture screws on the carbs that you might try to lean it out with. I had a set that ran very rich also. The fuel seems to pool in the elbo of intake. Jim

  11. What should the timing be set at on a "built" L28 ? I have heard that should advance it till it pings under load and then back it off to the nearest non pinging position. Is this true? JIM

  15. I have a L28 in a 260z. The motor has been bored, ported and there is a street/racing cam in it. I have an exhaust header(and larger exhaust pipe) and three 40mm dellorto side drafts. Finally , my question. It runs pretty good until it reaches its full temp wich is 3/4 on the temp gauge(a little less). At this point it drops in power and acts like it is vapor locking. I taped up the header to trap the heat, and it helped, but still runs too hot. My cooling system is stock. What do you think is going on? Thanks, Jim [/b]
