s30z L28/Z32 trans Swap drive shaft Question
sqweekykneecap replied to sqweekykneecap's topic in Drivetrain
Any 2 cents will count -
hey all, quick question about garrett's Z32 tranny install writeup's drive shaft details. If any one has actually used his instructions for the swap, found here http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/47599-z32-tranny-install-writeup/ i could use your help! well i went to this drive line shop around me, tried getting a drive shaft made up using the instructions that garrett gave us. NOW, the question that came up is, the "Length from the flange to output shaft 29 1/16" " talking 29 1/16" from weld points? or the center of the flange yokes? and "output shaft" is obviously referring to the slip yoke correct? i IMAGINE because we are talking drive shafts, the "output shaft" is the slip yoke, and the distance is from the center of the yokes, not weld points....BUT i have to make sure. thanks!! -zach

dude, that Z is nasty! btw my prior postings, i was talking about rb, but i couldnt find a oil pan.. i went the "bare bones" swap (83 l28et)... budget was over 5k. i tried to not do a cheap build, ya its running and holding great. like you said about trusting nissan engines, they do last. run them out of oil, run them out of coolant, still come back! Trust ME..... but cool man, those rb25's are built realy well, 350 will last you a long while. 400 with alcohol will be great man! so how is the "bently/91 civic" riding? over all? and when are we gonna see this BEAST in magazines?!!?

260z no charge, no shut off
sqweekykneecap replied to sqweekykneecap's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
today, non stop datsun work! (got out early wee) so, all in all i installed a switch on the edis power. the switch is in the cabin. i just cut the car off by killing the spark. and i installed the old internal voltage regulator. now it the alternator charges fine. soon im just going to install a low gauge wire from the alternator to the battery, and bypass all the stock bull chit! and hook up the L terminal and the old N terminal to the IG switch. so yep. also, being that im not using any stock fuel or spark or air, some of the wires need to be trimed out STAT. -
260z no charge, no shut off
sqweekykneecap replied to sqweekykneecap's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
thanks for the post man the more the better! BUT, diode is installed from the yellow to the white and red wire. the L terminal. cathode is towards yellow. "ive tried many ways to wire up the 6 wires for the old external voltage regulators (in those articles), placing diodes between the yellow and w/r wires, cathode toward yellow, but the other 4 i dont know what to do with those. (the articles are different for my application)" mind you i did follow the chart http://www.zcarcreations.com/howto/voltreg.htm but that didnt work either. then installed the diode inbetween the L and the S.. yellow and W/R no charge and still no shut off! weird. -
i used the search button don't worry BUT, i could not find what im looking for in my particular situation. hey guys, i have a 260z, l28et swap edis-6 MS2 w/ relay board 81 280zx turbo alternator tried following this diagram, http://www.zcarcreations.com/howto/voltreg.htm and this diagram http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/alternatorswap/index.html to get rid of the external voltage regulator. mind you both articles are for the 280z. i was following the haynes manual also, my eyes were hurting after staring at the microscopic diagrams in the book. problem is, the car will not turn off with the key while running, ALSO the alternator will not charge my battery. although, from out side sources, IE) jumping from another car, it does hold a very good charge, so it is not my battery. ive tried many ways to wire up the 6 wires for the old external voltage regulators (in those articles), placing diodes between the yellow and w/r wires, cathode toward yellow, but the other 4 i dont know what to do with those. (the articles are different for my application) now, the 260z is tricky with this, especialy being that i have gotten rid of the coil and ballast resistor, this most definatley plays a key part. in addition, having a loose key igniton on top of all of that. does any one have any suggestions on how i can fix the no charge problem, and the failure to turn off while running problem? for my 260Z? thanks for looking guys looking for some :icon15::icon15:'s

#11110-20P00 rb20 oil pan discontinued!
sqweekykneecap replied to zilvia_gt's topic in Nissan RB Forum
touche! i read that exact same thing before also...all that research for the swap...one of the MANY things i read up on. lets move on. :icon2::icon2: -
i bought it because i knew this was going to be a PROJECT. so, i tried to take every way i could find, to see fit to an easy project. (oxymoron). excuse me....to EASE on the difficutly of the project. the relay board is great man. every thing is just right there. cheap too. 60 bucks from DIYAUTOTUNE and i soldered the 12-15 peices to the board haha. ecu....cable.....relayboard...wires to sensors.....EASY. 12v to bat. 12v switched to blue and white ignition wire from ignition switch. (260z) engine ground......same as ...engine ground. as for a fan usage? im not sure. i was just going to run a temp switch so it kicks on auto. make my own little set up for that. i wouldnt doubt if the relay board can feature extra utilities like that.

where did u hook up the 12v switched to? on the relay board

sqweekykneecap replied to zilvia_gt's topic in Nissan RB Forum
agreed, this oil pan dilemma as been going on long enough! i know for a fact that McKinney has been working very hard to get us a decent oil pan for a good price for the Zkylines that we all want to create. i know because i called them at least once a week to find out whats the status! once i get sick of the l28et.....doubt it, BUT, my RB25 DREAM will come true! Cant wait.... much longer.... -

talked to mckinneymotorsports friday the 8th of may the guy said Wednesday there shipping a RB block(s) to some Fab company to get a design going, i HOPE they get this all set in the next week. or 2 im praying for this to go through, hopefully this company decides to come up with some decent design, with no mods to the oil pick up to be needed sadly, im more and more considering a SR20det...if i cant get this pan. -
yikes! man thats siiiiiick. Where did you get your pan from? im TRYING and Waiting to get a pan, BUT there are no more 200ZR rb20det oil pans!...that Nissan are making. luckily i didnt but any thing, Swap wise, to begin an already Halted project...... i was considering the sr20... i know i know. the parts are really cheap, plus theres no oil pan involved to fit in the s30...if i use mckinney engine mounts for sr20. my DREAM is RB! but my Anxious mind is saying SR! and i dont want to spend 1100 dollars on a homemade OIL PAN and sump.
