Driver side Sanderson header installed. I just need to make a small dent for the steering shaft to clear the header, it just touches the #1 header pipe. I will have lots of ground clearance with these headers. Passenger side will need more work. I hope to have Sanderson modify the passenger side to work with the Hoke mounts. I live 20 miles from the Sanderson facility. The other problem I see not related to the Hoke mounts is #5 spark plug is to close to the header, there is only 1/4" clearance on my headers. Not enough room to get a spark plug socket on the plug. You would have to remove the headers to change the spark plug. Also the LS2 90 degree spark plug wire will not fit on the plug (not enough clearance). Pete

Sanderson headers hitting steering shaft

I made some adjustments, and now the steering just touches the header. I will just put a small dent in the pipe to clear the steering. The other problem I see with theses headers is the header pipe at the spark plug at #5 is to close. There is only 1/4" between the header and the spark plug. You cannot even get the sparkplug socket on the spark plug. You would have to remove the headers to change the plug. And the 90 degree LS2 spark plug wire does not have enough room to plug in. I did not use the CX racing or Hawks headers because I would like more ground clearance. When I get these headers to work I will have plenty of ground clearance. Pete -
Sanderson headers hitting steering shaft

Sorry. The car is a 1971 240Z. The Ls2 is installed with Hoke performance mounts. -
Has anyone had a fitment problem with Sanderson headers installed on an LS2 hitting the steering shaft? I bought the headers from Zcardepot, I assume they are the same headers sold at JTR. The headers need to move 3/8" towards the engine to clear the steering shaft. I will post a picture tomorrow. The car is a 1971 240Z, the LS2 is installed with Hoke performance mounts. Pete

The only problem I had was the oil pan rested on the Ubolt bracket on the steering rack. I think I will trim some of the bracket and add a washer on top of the motor mount to raise the LS2 by 1/8". I think it will clear, or I can do what Austin suggest and remove the Ubolt and bracket and run without it. Pete

"Clean looking build!! I've got a couple questions for you though, are you using the factory clutch master cylinder? What size primaries are your headers? I'm wondering because on hawk's site I saw everything from 1 3/4" TO 2" primaries. Or does any size fit? " I installed a Tilton .725 clutch master cylinder. I have an LS6 clutch and flywheel. I have not decided on headers yet. I might go with Hawks or build my own. Pete

Clutch master cylinder pedal connection

If you look at the picture the clutch rod is 3/4" to the left of the clutch pedal. I will try and take a better picture. -
I installed an after market Tilton clutch master cylinder, you can see in the picture the rod from the master cylinder does not line up with the clutch pedal. The rod is offset by about 3/4". The 240Z was missing the master cylinder, so I did not see how it was connected. How does the rod connect to the clutch pedal?

Getting closer to dropping in the engine. Finished the brake and clutch lines. Will finish running fuel lines this weekend. I will be using an electric low pressure fuel pump at the OEM gas tank feeding the Edelbrock fuel sump, that has a EFI fuel pump submerged in the fuel in the sump. Will finish removing extra wiring in the engine bay that will not be used.
