  1. I finally got my Z registered and am now driving "Legally". I think I have a bad U-Joint as I get a loud thunk when I nail her I am going to look at that tonite. I just wanted to thank everyone that has replied to my posts. Eveyone has been very helpful. I am glad I found this site! Thanks!!

  3. Nice Ride!! The black one right? The bumper looks great. I currently have some custom bumpers on my 75 280 that look like s@#$ So..... you now have 33 interested parties. Please keep me informed. Late september is my B-day so I can't think of a better present for myself. What air dam do you have? Where can I get one ?   4. Will you be using new repro bumpers (does anybody make them?) or will you use original ones and re-chrome? I think a kit like this would be a big hit. You could probably sell at least 10 to members of this webpage.

  6. ON3GO, Could you tell me more about the MSA Air Dam? I tried to find a web page but was having no luck. Also which turn signals are you replacing? The tail lights? When I first started this thread I was actually looking for info on those thin bumpers you described. Any info on those would be greetly appreciated. Thanks!
  7. Hey Guys, I was wondering if I could get some opinions on ignition timing / carb setup for my sbc. I did not put the engine together but this is what I know about it. MSD Ignition box, MSD Dist. Edlebrock (750?) cfm RV/Performance cam (make unknown) possible over bore of .30 or .40 I say this because when I bought the car the kid told me it was .40 over but his knowledge of mechanics is very limited. Unlike my own !! I was wondering how I can tell if the ignition box is working correctly,and what a good start point for ignition timing might be. I have read 16 and 14 BTC but the car seems to like 12 better. Also tips on tuning this old carb. Set the idle low, tune the air adjust screws rich then back off? I tried these things last night and it is running pretty good but a little rough on the low end 1500 - 2500 rpm. Above that very smooth. The exaust seems rich and burns the eyes when sitting in the car at idle. I appreciate any help. Thanks!!

  9. sorry, I don't know the answer to your question but I was hoping you could help me understand backspacing and offset. I see these things in posts all the time but don't know how to interpret them. I think I might have an idea but then again I thought I understood my wife!!! Thanks!!!
  10. Has anyone installed one of those dash caps? Is it difficult? Worth it? It seems like a great idea but as with alot of add on stuff it seems like it mike look strange/not right. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  11. The white wire in my car gis butt-ed to a red wire that I assumed should go to power.....oops!! I hope I didn't fry my MSD box. The car seems to run fine I guess I will have to do their diagnostic routine . Thanks Much!!
  12. My vacum systm / canister has been bypassed. I only have vacum for the booster. Nothing eles on my motor requires vacum besides the vacum advance. Last night I diconnected the booster and plugged the carb ports. It ran much better and the brakes felt the same so I figure it must have a big leak. Do I need to drain the master cylinder to R&R the booster? Or can I sneak it out without that PITA!

  14. I recently had to change my starter on my 75 V8 280z and found out that it was a buick starter. I was worried I had a buick motor in the car ( i bought it with the 350 swap already done) But after reading your description of olds vs chevy mine definatley sounds chevy. Thanks!! Oh..... the lighter the engine the better. With no power sterring parking lots/3 point turns can be "fun" with a sb V8
  15. Has anyone ever had a problem with rpm raising when applying brakes? Is it a sign of a leaky booster? I moved the booster hose from the back of the carb port to the front port and the rpm raise was less but still occuring. Any ideas??
  16. I am actually thinking of upgrading to the 15/16 Master cylinder soooooooooo..... I think I will wait until I am done with the front brake mod I am doing and see how it feels. I am doing the '84 4 piston 4 Runner calipers with '84 300zx vented rotors mod. I only have 15" wheels and I need some more clearence though..........Time to grind !!!!!!!
  17. what about a reman? the parts store says I can get the oem 7". He had no listing fo a 2 + 2 but said there was a 9". Do you think this is the 2 + 2 model ? I don't know if there is enough room between where the bolt holes are and the hood. Think I should replace the master cylinder while I have it off? Reman 7" booster $91.00 Reman 9" booster $131.00 Raman master $49.00
  18. Does anyone know about the booster upgrade you can do on a 280? I thought I had found something about it on the net at one time but now I can't locate it. Mine makes a very loud hissing when the brakes are applied. Me thinks it's time for a new one !!!

  20. I am looking for setup options to get my Tach to work. I have a 75 280Z with a chevy 350. I also have a MSD ignition box. Do you come of the box or the Distributor? I appreciate any help you guys can give me.
  21. Hello All! I am new to your forum and I already have many thanks for all the good info on this site. I am thinking of getting a Quaife for my Z but am not sure about what rear end I currently have. Does anyone know how I might figure this out without pulling it? Can I pull the cover and measure the ring? Is there a way to tell through the VIN? The 350 in my Z currently creates the dreded one-wheel-peel. This must be fixed!! I need both feet on the ground so to speak. Thanks to greimann for starting me off in the right direction.
