  1. Hey everybody, a quick update. I went ahead and BOUGHT my turbo manifold. See picture attached...I hope I'm not violating policy. I purchased the mani from Sinco Customs. I thought the single waste gate design was something never done before. Well, they do it. I think they're the only ones who do it the way I had designed it. I sent the owner my design and told him about the priority I had given the waste gate. I gave him my clearance dimensions and pictures of my setup. Honestly, I was lucky to come across Sinco. It was between them, 6Boost, and Future Fabrication. I couldn't beat Sinco's price. I got it in Stainless but not the burn finish.
  2. Hello all, I am searching for the amount of newtons or ft/lbs of torque the RB25's oem slave cylinder's push rod exerts. Would anyone happen to know this trivia question? Thanks in advance!
  3. Any chance this guy still has the car? I'm ready to buy
  4. Looking to buy the internal waste gate EFR 7670D turbo in .92 trim. I can also trade a 7670C no wastegate.
  5. Honestly, I've cooled my head. Found someone who I can throw money at to finish her up.
  6. Hey to all, I am testing the waters to see what my project's worth as is. I do not have the time to complete this project on my own. I'm willing to throw money at it to finish, but don't know where to take it. I live in Southwest Louisiana in case you're wondering. Refreshed engine - New gaskets, ARP bolts, OEM head gasket Sanded, primed, and bedlined engine bay and cleared with metal flake Borg-Warner 7670D Twin Scroll 1.05A/R About the car: Bought the car in New Mexico. Surface rust beneath the fenders but can be sanded out. No rust on floor boards up front. Surface rust near the back of the seat mounts but nothing serious. I the frame rails need to be repaired as there is rust damage there. No rust around drip rails, or in spare boot. No rust on or around hatch. Illumina adjustable springs and eibach springs bought for front and back. Only back has been installed, along with poly bushings. Carbon Fiber rear spolier and front splitter 5-speed manual that came with the engine Bought but not installed: New weather strip kit for whole car Eibach lowering springs (front) and tokico illumina adjustable (front) Poly bushings for front suspension I have a spare R-200 that comes along with it, but it's not worth much as I thought it was an LSD, which it isn't.
  7. Would you ever consider selling your rocker arm suspension design as a blueprint for me to fabricate for my car?

    Thanks!

    Jeff

  8. Looking for a shell. Only real requirement would be light to no rust. Planning to come back with a tubular frame, so the exterior is important. Preferably no rust on drip rails or rear hatch area. No rear hatch needed. Doors would be nice to have but not necessary. Like I said, looking for something to build a frame in. Preferably less than $1000. Preferably within 12 hours of Louisiana. Would consider arranging freight if shell is cheap enough. Thanks! Jeff
  9. FYI, I did a test fit because I was worried about the steering column. As it turns out, I'm clearing it just fine but I'm getting close to the engine mounts (Whitehead performance). I had a small set back (unexpected expenses) and will not be able to have these fabricated for another month. But I will keep everyone posted as progress is made. Jeff
  10. I could understand using these in certain situations where the material isn't rated for such high temperature intermittent duty cycles (cast high carbon steels). Is the purpose to reduce fatigue on the welds due to thermal growth? If so, I lean towards the bellows being on the down pipe, some flex piece on the turbo air outlet flange, and reducing vibration on the engine itself through dampening. Thoughts?
  11. Would you please give me a link to a typical arrangement?
  12. Yeah, I will have to see how the shaft comes into play. I really hope I'm onto something here! Anyway, here's some progress. Still have parts coming in. I went ahead and decided on a different flange (pictured separately) so the transition to pipe will be smooth. Plus, it's only $65.
  13. Couldn't resist. Here's the waste gate concept. True twin scroll, 1 waste gate. I'm posting these pics to see if there would be any interest for the actual parts involved in making the waste gate connection. Testing the waters. Also, what do you guys think of the concept? Thanks for your input so far and it's been a fun ride!
  14. Thanks for the comment! To all, I have revised the design...again. But, I've ordered the parts and I've committed to the design. Attached is a picture of the final revision. You will notice that I have left the waste gate connections off. That my friends, is proprietary. Just know that it will be a true twin scroll design and I definitely will be posting a picture of the wastegate kit I intend to manufacture for selling purposes. The design has again been through a flow check only to make sure the short radius ells do not cause excessive back pressure. They don't. I don't have a stress model yet, but my mechanical engineer says that I should not gusset anything because I could possibly crack welds. He will perform a thermal growth analysis when he has time. Also different from the attached plan, I went with a different and more simple style of collector. I am using a 3" weld cap with a flat plate welded to it. Hard to explain but there is one little detail showing it on the plan. If you plan on fabricating this, please note that the final height of the turbo flange can change. I will probably leave this piece for last and do a "field cut". What are your thoughts? Pics to come. It might be another couple of weeks before my next post, BUT WE HAVE PROGRESS!
  15. So...I got this quote today...LOL! And that's the minimum length of pipe I can purchase with them.
  16. A little progress report: I took @HuD 91gt's advice and centered up the manifold. All pipe lengths are equal as of now. The connection for the wastegates are 45 degree branches off the collecter with 90D ells welded to those. I will be 3D scanning the borg warner tonight so I can create an autocad model of it. If anyone wants a Borg-Warner EFR 7670D autocad model, message me. I am interested in a specific manifold design done by CRG Turbo Manifolds out of Australia. Here's a link and let me know what y'all think:
  17. Awesome vid @seattlejester ! Inspired me to do this. See images. So far...: 1: 19.75" 2: 19.75" 3: 19.375" 4: 21.75" 5: 21.625" 6: 21.5" I will probably need to repipe all of it and especially runner 2 as this thing will put the turbo itself up wayyy to high. Will hit it again monday. I will have the engine in hopefully tomorrow and check clearances. I will also do a symmetric design including "prioritizing the wastegate" to show @HuD 91gt
  18. If I have time this weekend, I will drop the engine in and take pics. I am able to take bunches and bunches of photos and process them into something called AGISoft Photoscan Pro. This creates a point cloud I can use to import the car and engine in 3D into autocad. FYI, if this gets up and running like I want, I'll be investing all profits back into getting cool stuff like a liquid sand box. That way we can anneal and PWHT carbon steel pipe. Keep in mind, every manifold I design (with all of your help...credits will go where credit is due. Might finally donate to the website!) will undergo flow calculation and finite element modeling. All documentation will be provided along the way.
  19. You are probably right about the welder. I'm a piper by trade and it's our job/duty to make welders hate us. But seriously, I understand your statement about the turbine housing wastegate. I'm running a borgs warner EFR 7670 W/ 1.05 A/R twin scroll. I originally wanted the 0.92 A/R as it had an internal wastegate. Being that the 1.05 A/R is not available with an internal wastegate, I'm stuck using external. Poor planning on me? Maybe. Is there a way we could give the wastegate a higher priority? I'm willing to make this as efficient and awesome as possible, while still being cheaper than a 6boost. Could you please please please explain to me how twin scroll is still effective in a waste gas scenario? The more I understand it, the better I could figure a work around/solution. Quite honestly, because after much shopping around, I noticed the trend for S30 chassis to have a forward position turbo. However, I'm sure I could use a handy dandy search button to clarify this issue. If a center position turbo manifold will fit, I'd gladly re-work this and make it symmetrical! I'd imagine a symmetrical turbo would be easier to fabricate using mandrel bending as often as possible. Thanks for your responses thus far. I'll do more work on this tomorrow.
  20. At this point, I'm just chronicling my design. I hope I'm not being annoying with all the posts. Current runner lengths (and it needs work): 1: 23.75" 2: 17.1875" 3: 18.3125" 4: 21.75" 5: 21.625" 6: 21.5"
