  1. Car is too much fun not to take out. Little one loves cars and coffee now. OK she loves the doughnuts and hot chocolate but I don’t mind. Finally wrestled the hood back on.
  2. Please stop squeeeeeeeeeling! Oh my God the brakes. They have been loud since I got the car. I put new pads on right when I got the car. That fixed it for awhile. Now that the car is back up they are bad! Screaming loud. Hear me coming from 2 counties over loud. Sound like a freight train… you get the picture. After mashing that search button a few times I determine the shims are missing. Guess who sells shims? Nobody. That’s who. Mr. nobody to you. Notice anything else? Also missing the rest of the hardware. Didn’t even know it was a thing. found some new pads on Amazon with shims on them. Also a new set of hardware and a big ‘ol bottle of lube. -insert jokes here- installation was a breeze. And I fixed it! No more noise. Gonna tackle brake upgrades sometime in the future.
  3. WARNING: The images you are about to see are disturbing. Viewer discretion is advised. Floor pans are out of stock. Forever! I was going to get new ones put in and a rust hole in the frame fixed. I decided to make a patch until the world returns to normal. What you are about to see is the result. here is what I have. You can see the lines where I am going to cut. I squared the hole and welded in new pieces of metal. I don’t know how to weld and doing it upside down was definitely interesting. Gotta learn sometime. one side done and working on the bottom. It looks like there are cracks and holes but that is a trick. The welds are not ground perfectly smooth yet. I know it’s not the best work but I think it will hold until I get some new pans. Probably going to get some bad dog frame rails put on.
  4. Here are some exhaust shots. Gotta get some better ones. HiFlow custom exhaust in Manassas did the work. They have a bunch of Datsun’s in the shop too. Good price I think $600 for all the parts and labor. I brought the vbands with me JCI headers - flex pipes - vbands - y pipe to 3” - resonator - vband - muffler here is a video. Stoopid fuel pump is so loud the phone decides to tune in to it and buffer the exhaust 93E6DB2B-2786-4FC2-8196-C625A7B1AAAF.MOV
  5. Carz and Coffee! Its a little silly with no hood but I don’t mind. Need some help getting it back on. And of course trusty wingman has to be in every photo ever taken
  6. Alright, been busy still so haven’t kept up. Plus the car is running and driving so I’ve slowed down a bit. My goal was always to get the engine swapped as quick as reasonably possible. Here are some shots of the shifter. Don’t mind my rough edges. Aluminum is hard and you may have heard my fabrication can be somewhat lacking. took a long time but it finally arrived Lokar shifter installation was actually really easy. made a base out of scrap aluminum. And yes I have not finished the wiring. Thanks for noticing. shifts so nice. 28A2E2B8-A0E0-4975-A348-946D8A25F24C.MOV I’m curious to see how well it works with the stock shift boot.
  7. Awesome. I like these a lot. Might go ahead and get them. Thanks.
  8. Those 315’s are gonna be awesome. You said the 2 and 3 inch flares were a good size. That’s bigger than standard zg correct? Do you have any pics? What do you think they would look like with those 17x9.5 -20 all around? is this them? https://www.jdmfenderflares.com/home1
  9. Did you get your wheels on? I am looking at doing 275 all around as well but on 17x9.5 - 20. Any pics?
  10. As the title says want Rota RB or similar. Prefer bronze and in those sizes.
  11. I’m not sure on the weight. I’m mostly worried about fitment and looks at this point. Like you said the choices are limited. I saw those tires but worry the overall size is too small.
  12. Hi thank you for that. I have been busy at work so have made little progress. I need to get things updated here and on the parts list. I did get my Lokar shifter in finally. It went in easy and is the Bees Knees. Worth the money and wait (even if it sucked). Shift easily through all gears. took it up to the shop and got a generic magnaflow resonator and muffler on. Still not sure I like it. Might sound like a truck. had some trouble with the fuel filter before the pump. It was getting dirty quickly and some dumb dumb ordered one that specifically states not for fuel injection. Got that swapped and running pretty good. Still gets rough when you try and push it. I think the new filter might be clogged. Might need to address the tank. I was going to have the shop patch a bit of frame rust but it wasn’t possible. The floor pans have been patched poorly and need some work so there wasn’t anywhere to weld the patch to. I went ahead and ordered new floor pans. They want $1700 to put them both in. Ouchy. wiring is still a mess! I’ll post some updates whenever I can.
  13. So frustrated. Ordered my shifter back in December and delivery date kept getting pushed back. Was finally supposed to ship this week. Nope! Tried to push it back to middle of March. Back to shopping. I do think I have an answer for the park/ neutral wire for pin 34 on the pcm. It took a long time for my tiny brain to comprehend how to use a single switch on the shifter to interrupt power to the starter when not in park and provide ground to the pcm when it is in park. I believe the answer is to switch ground with the neutral safety switch. When in park the switch grounds both the starter relay signal and PCM. If I could just get a shifter!
  14. Those look awesome. What tires are you going to run? I don't want to stretch mine and can't find a lot of choices in 15".
  15. One of the big problems is reading through 10-20 year old threads and getting great recommendations only to find out they just don’t make the tires anymore. Especially in 15 and 16. I’d like to run 245/45r16 but only see 50 series I want the same all around but it seems like different offsets in front and back is common. So I won’t be able to rotate anyway. The JR19 rims I like don’t come in 9.5. The rotas don’t come in colors I like. Want all bronze. so here are my thoughts right now. Front 16x9 -15 with 245/50 rear 16x9 -25 with 255/50 will I have issues in the front? Should I go 8” with 225?
  16. Good advice. I was thinking about that. I just worry about getting enough traction in the rear and clearance in the front. I would be happy with 245 all around.
  17. Hello again. I am finishing up my LS swap https://forums.hybridz.org/topic/132113-spdrcr-ls1-and-4l60e-build-thread/ and it’s time to pick flares, wheels, and tires. I have been through about 40 pages of the wheel thread and have like 60 or more to go. I was going to go with a 15” rim but tires are nowhere to be found! (I do not want to run drag radials) I am going to use lowering springs (eibach or zcardepot) KYB struts and wheel flares. I have chosen my wheels but could use some final advice on width, offset, and tires. I am going to use 16”JR19 they come in variable offsets 16x8 with 0 to -20 offset 16x9 with -15 to -25 offset I would like to run bf Goodrich sport comps. I do not want stretch look at all. 255/50r16 245/50r16 225/55r16 should I do 255 in the rear and smaller in the front? Maybe 245 all around? Stagger the rim width? also I am likely going to run wide flares 2” front and 3” rear unless standard zg makes more sense with those wheels. what wheel width and offset should I select to fill out the flares? hopefully I made that clear! Thank you for any help you have.
  18. Only 3 big items left - wrap up in car wiring and mount ecm and fuse box - install shifter - back ordered - Take to shop for exhaust
  19. Ok seriously. How do you get the clutch pedal out? I can see there is a bolt or something with my mirror. About to send the kid up there. also could not get the dimmer or odometer reset out. Did get the gauges wired up. Could not get the dimmer to work right. It was opposite of the factory lights. Also could not get the high beam indicator. Something with the ground vs 12v. Got tired of fiddling with it. I want change to all red lLEDs in the future anyway.
  20. Alright. Got the dash cap off. Can’t get the gauges out with it on. yup I see why that’s on there the problem I was having the odometer reset cable was wrapped around everything. After I got that loose just popped all the connectors off. A few screws and the old gauges come apart easily I have new speedhut gauges to go in. they come with a ring that almost fits into the factory housing i ground down the nubs a little bit and it fits right in for a tight friction fit! Perfect fit. So happy about that. Then I just drilled a little hole and used the old tiny screws to hold it in place. I have to figure out the wiring and get them in the car tomorrow. I also want to replace the cigarette lighter with something while the dash is apart. Maybe a bass knob for my future stereo.
  21. Good news is I went out for spin last night. Got some gas and did about 5 miles. No transmission issues! No more pressure building up. So either the line was kinked or the tube was clogged. I didn’t get on it at all cuz I have no exhaust yet. I did create a another tool if anyone want to buy one. It’s-a-don’t-spray-shift-juice-all-over-my-car tool. Luckily it wasn’t need.
  22. #$&@#$@#$! DASHCAP!! @#@*#$@##! GAUGES! You know what I’m saying? Struggling to get the old gauges out. Got that urge to just start pulling real hard. Figured I’d come look at pictures of finished cars or puppies or something and relax for a minute.
  23. Thanks for the encouragement. I’ve always wanted to do a project like this. I’m having a pretty good time.
  24. have you looked at these? https://zcardepot.com/products/coil-spring-set-stock-and-lowered-240z-260z-280z?variant=21384265269361
