  1. My main concerns were price and availabilty, I got a set of leather 88 300zxt seats with power everthing, they look pretty nice too . I would rather have MR2 or Corrado seats but I can never find those cars in our small junk yards . I got mine for $100 cdn for the pair, and have to fix the drivers seat . The drivers seat is real heavy like 60 pounds plus . Paying for shipping on a seat to Canada is way too expensive .

     

    I think this adds to enjoyment of the car, so I take the weight penalty .

  2. Just to let you guys know that my brother has a RAM clutch in his talon AWD. I was not to impressed with it, it is an on/off button with no slipping allowed . The pressure plate was a stock one, and had very thin friction material . It chatters once and a while too after hard driving .

     

    Not very impressed, IMHO I think CFDF is worth the extra $$.

  3. I am a little fuzzy on the Miata one whether it was stock or aftermarket ECU ( think it was stock) . Anyhow the DFI situation isn't as bad as it seems, not optimal but will be very useful . Once the major tuning is done I doubt I will need more than 6 variables at a time anyway . I will logs up with RPM, O2, MAP, TPS, Air Temp, Total PW .

     

    From there a charts will be made, the key here is to plot one variable vs time and don't try and mess with scaling . Then I will put some text boxes and arrows to scroll through the graphs . It will take some time to set this up but once done will be very useful . The setup will be very simular to what Scottie has posted . Only trouble is I have to switch to Excel from DFI software .

  4. 60-1 you will definately want an external wastegate . TimZ had the cleanest install I have seen with minimum hassle, as well as optimal performance . Search those archives, he gives all the details . Make sure to verify the A/R ratio on that monsta turbo . You may want to step down to mabey a .63 or mabey even .42 ratio . A little known fact is with a big external wastegate you can have a lower A/R ratio than normal to get turbo spooled up quickly, then dump the extra gas without a big pressure drop at high rpm and load .

  5. When I was looking at the graph I "ASSumed" that the 749mv was max and Omv was min . Then I looked at were the launch speed was 0 . Just before launch I thought that the O2 voltage was below 500mv . This would indicate a lean mixture, a shot in the dark . Good to see you straightend things out . A good datalogger is a nice thing to have, to bad my DFI log is so mickey mouse !!

  6. I think Scottie likes looking at the graphs almost as much as racing . I like the numbers as well . I was just looking over the charts trying to see if I could spot anything wrong . It looks like the car is tuned very well from info given . The one thing I noticed with the launch is that O2 voltage is below .5 mv when at the lights .

    Could this be why it is not getting enough rpms with the transbrake ?? Probably need a graph of the MAP sensor . Good luck tracking the problem down .

  7. Easy way to check a slipping clutch on a turbo car go 60mph in 4th or 5th then tromp gas . The car makes max boost in these gears and with the high speed aerodynamics it is hard to push the car . End result is the engine rpm will noticabley rocket up without much increase in speed .

  8. If I had to guess I would start with the charging system . Since other electrical components have been acting up . If the ECU doesn't have proper voltage then EFI will not run correctly . TPS sensor is a 0ohms-High restance it should be linear . An engine analyser may be cheaper than replacing parts at random .

  9. I believe the sensor is 3/8"NPT for a standard GM sensor . Nice to hear you are pleased with your purchase, just wait until that puppy runs .

     

    Mine may run sometime soon, got a chance to work on mine on the weekend .

  10. I did not have the $$ to buy a set of the CV adapters frown.gif But I would like to thank Scottie for coming up with something great and sharing with everyone . His prices are very cheap, and top quality !!

     

    I can see quite a few custom parts flying around this site, making the Z cars better than ever !!

     

    Hmm SCCA for brakes, Scottie for CV adapters, custom control arms Mikelly . I can't believe the amount of customizing that has taken place and shared on this board in the last year.

     

    The R&D on this site far exceeds any Z specialist company . cool.gif

  11. Good discussion, I hope I didn't come off the wrong way to anybody not my intent . Excellent diagram I know exactly what you are driving at .

     

    Won't the front hinge be less likely to flex with the rocker box tube connected at the bottom of 1 . Yes I do agree that it placed in the middle of the door will be way better . But this is unacceptable for my street car, I am 6'1" and 190 lbs . I may be grasping at straws, mabey a 4 point is all that is needed .

  12. I am a little new at the whole roll cage setup, so I am no authority on this .

     

    However I do know some basics

     

    Any cage is better than none, unless it has a bar that can hurt the driver in a crash .

     

    The car will be used everday and have people in the back once and a while .

     

    Given that the car is unibody, just about

    anything will benifit to chassis stiffness .

    I think the rocker tube will keep a square car from turning into a rhombus under hard cornering forces .

     

    The door bar is nessary to provide a gusset for the main hoop . It will keep the main hoop from delfecting in case of a roll over .

  13. Just thinking out loud here but when I was doing some frame repair, I noticed that the rocker panel box has a bit of room in it . Mabey you could have the bar run right by the seat tying in front to rear . Might even be able to sneak the carpet right over it with a small bulge .

     

    I am double pooched by having a 2+2, I will need a cage and acces to rear seats . I don't care if mines legal, just want some added safety .

  14. Lots of people when building an engine don't consider it as a package that must be built for a specific price, purpose, power, rpm .

     

    For example a tunnel ram intake on a stock 350 with dual carbs sux for power and gas milage .

     

    I would have loved to see the look on that vette owners face . A small dose of reality to his fantasy world

  15. One thing about all-wheel drive cars is they don't need the power to weight ratios like the RWD cars . They have a huge launch advantage giving the impressive 0-60 times . That is if you drive it like you hate it .

     

    I think the fuel delivery issue is what stops most people from going turbo . You just can't slap on a rising rate FPR onto stock EFI and expect a turbo to run as good as the supercharger . A new fuel map must be done, it takes more R&D for a turbo . In the end it's worth it though .

  16. Alright for a chevy nova, but I think just a plain old LSD would better suit the car . Most people, many people don't realize how fast they take corners in the Z, until the get in a different vehicle . People who follow me are like " You really whizzed through that corner!!" Hmm I don't remember driving that fast .

     

    The powertraxx is definataley better than a locker or going with a welded diff .
