Ok who wants an rb30. What i am looking to do is to buy some rb30 engines. Strip them and get them hot tanked. Box them up and ship them to the usa. They would come with rods pistons and block. If your interested in this let me know so i know if its worth while looking into .

Thats a good point about the ems I agree with you the longer you wait the more features you get for the lesser money.
-
Ok thanks I will give them a call next week to see about price and features
-
I just tried to download the wolf software ,ethier there file is corrupt or it doesnt work on vista. Ethier way its not a good start.
-
Yeah i havent spoken with wolf yet I will call them next week and see how they stack up
-
You know what i wouldnt mind seeing that happen to see what the difference is. Call me if you like. My number is on my website. www.waxracing.com

Thanks yeah i am hoping they will flow alot more now with the manifold modified The way they flow on a stocker is rubbish. It will be interesting to see what the dyno comes back with Thats a long way away before it gets there however
-
Thanks Yes thats what i am planning to do I have been in contact with autronic , haltech and vipec Autronic are a good system and have good back up Haltech are good as well but dont have all the features of the others Vipec looks awesome , its a new system and i am a bit unsure on there customer support at the moment They all come in at about 2000 aussie dollars

On another note i found this while searching throught this site

Ok here is some pics of me with my digital calipers. As every one can see its clearly over 39mm every where i measure I am unsure if we get different manifolds then you do in the usa but i would very much doubt it Im not sure if the non egr manifolds have smaller runners or not This was an egr manifold before i removed it. On another note i have been building and porting race jetski engines for over 15 years as well as other forms of motorsport. Im not about to grind something to a 1mm wall thickness ever

I would say on a stock manifold the flow through number 1 and 2 would be bad at least. As far as throttle butterfly yeah i agree looking for the best flow into the manifold would be best of course. I am looking at one of a xf ford falcon. it wil have sufficent flow as well as have the ac valve built into it That just means one less thing attached to the manifold Im not sure where you guys are measuring your manifolds from but the thinest my manifold is at any point i measure is 39.2mm Thats a wall thickness of at least 2.1mm at the thinnest point. There rest of the manifold is wider I am sure it will meet my requirements Please read back on the 2nd page where i am looking at a projected hp figure of about 350 whp Im not trying to make 500 plus from this engine. the manifold is being modified to look good as well. If i was just after air flow i would have made a straight runner manifold, however i think they look awful and am trying to avoid that look at all cost. I want people to look at my engine and go that looks cool not um, nice wheels
-
Ok good to know Yeah i am not sire if to buy forged pistons or not I know it gives a big safety margin and thats a handy thing Im thinking about a 70mm throttle body on mine I will just see what comes along for the right price , if i can get one that has an air bypass on it already that would make life nice and easy
-
yes i will be getting it dynoed I have a friend who has done alot of tuning here in australia and has bene shipped all over the world just to tune in race cars ecu,s I have been extensivley talking with him about what ecu to run etc. When its ready to go i will going to a dyno with him. My main goal is to have 350 at the rear wheels not for all out power. But i would like it on the least boost i can run , hopefully not more than 15psi but if i have to go to 18 then i will live with that. Thanks for the heads up guys. I am enjoying playing with the manifold and seeing what i can get.If i find it to performance limiting then i have a side draft manifold already and i will make an intake system based on that
-
These look good I am going to look into those more They are working on drive by wire as well So instead of having throttle control your right foor controls torque Imagine how smooth you can make the power come on when at 50% throttle loading you have 50% torque I like the sound of that
-
this is the manifold with the side panels on Well sitting in there anyway Its almost ready to be welded shut now
-
Its not a case of getting my feelings hurt. But heck if you dont like it then shut up. I could go into lots of peoples threads and bash them if i wanted to but i choose to not say a word. Tonyd came in and told me he wasnt sure about it . Thats fine I dont mind constructive criticsm. Heck i have been building race jetski engines for over 15 years now i know there is more than one way to skin a cat When some one comes in all arrogant like they are the finial word then i tend to get a bit pissed. But thanks for the heads up. I made the side panels today and will post a picture up later . Should be close to finished next week .Just have to work on the fuel rail after that

So your saying that a modified ka head flows more than a modified rb26 head. Ok fine what ever works for you. Im not going to sit here and keyboard cowboy your decision to do what you have to pieces. Please dont do it to my decision to modify my stock intake manifold. Thank you .

Oh and nice job on your manifold there Ben. What pickup system are you using for the injection. Im guessing you have a crank trigger.
-
I have been talking with the guy who owns this car as well. The guy who did alot of the engine work is actually may machiest that does the cylinder boring for my race engines i build ( jetski). They have seen my manifold and are more than happy with the job i have done to reach the power outputs i am looking to achieve.

Who is trying to get 278N/A ?. out of this manifold not me. Some one commented they thought i had between 170-190 cfm of flow so i took it in the middle and said that enough to make 278hp as per cfm / hp calculator. Read back on what i said i am going to do. When its all finshed i will bring it to a uniform finish with a catrdrige roll and then get it sand blasted to give it the rough finish. Sure its a lot of work when i could have just made a different manifold I am suprised to hear you say that when you could have just put an RB engine in your car and made a lot more power instead of chopping up those heads. But like you i am doing ii because i want to and i can. I thought you of all people would appreciate that I am starting to pick up on this web site there is a lot of negative people. Not just in here but all around hybridz

Ok well i held it over the engine to see what it would look liek and to make sure the clearance was going to be ok. Its going to aim beside the radiator just where i want it. On friday i will be picking up the extra alloy plate i need to finish it off
-
Oh yeah I wore the socks to keep every one happy
-
Well got the manifold all tacked up today and have to blend the old body in to the new plenum Then its a case of welding it all up and making a top and bottom plate and then manifold is finished On the bottom plate i will weld a thicker plate so i can put in the map sensor and vacum fittings
-
It would be better i am sure if it had a straighter shot However it would put the throttle body right out on the side towards the inner guard Its way better than it was and with boost behind it i think its going to be ok Thanks for the heads up
-
I just think it will flow into number 1 better. And it will look a damn site better as well All good fun doing stuff like this. Knowing me i will make it then scrap it and make some thing else
