How would i go about checking AFM ? I installed new injector harness's also... because the old one broke off because they were all brittle and crap. So I went ahead and changed those two. But what i don't understand and is why the damn car runs perfect with the fuel injector cleaner. But once that crap runs out, in like 30 min. the car goes back to it's stupid self...

well a few weeks ago i stated how my car ran perfect on fuel injector cleaner. So i thought it was the injectors and so did a million other people. Changed them this week end and guess what... Still have this werid studder... The idle is fixed. But i will be driving... hit 2k and it dies... rpm's still climing then 3k comes around and it kicks in... hits 4k then dies and comes back at 5k. I feel like driving this car into a wall... maybe the car gets lean and that would explain the studder.. but im guessing and don't want to keep changing crap that isn't broken. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

what else have i checked? i replaced the fuel filter and the pcv vavle. that did nothing. Then i asked my friends dad that is a mechanic and he said the fuel injectors because of the fact that it runs perfect with the fuel injector cleaner fuild running through the engine. But i wanted to know what people with Z's thought of this little big problem... went driving tonight and sure enough.. as soon as that fuild ran out back to the same crap. bad idle, no power on the rpm band and so forth. And now the fact that the battery's dead isn't helping. Charged the battery drove it for a while and when i go to start it again DEAD. but the fuel injector thingy problem is my biggest thing right now....

well maybe thats my problem.... To high of an octane... yea this cars basically stock besides little minor stuff..... Thanks a lot guys imma run this tank down and put what mid or low grade ? i guess i will try low grade first to see how that runs.... just saved me 300 bucks hopefully...

naw.... this is the second full gas tank of 93 octane with the fuel injector cleaner. And i run the gas tank as low as i can go, then i filled it up with 93 and fuel injector cleaner....

Well after like 2 weeks of me wanting to blow up my car i now know that my car only runs good while the Fuel Injector Cleaner fluid is running through my engine. Other wise the car will stumble, have absoultly no power any where on the rpm band and have an extreamly rough idle. Now that i kinda know what my problem is does anyone know what can be causing this? Is it that my Injectors are done after 25 years or what? any possible answer will help me out!!! oh yea it's a 78 280z..

thanks v8dats i lubed it a couple of days of go with one of those tin can thingy's. works great now. Now that i solved one problem new one's just keep coming up.....

Just got my first Z this morning . But the gas pedel is extremly hard to push in. I noticed that thiers a vacuum on top of the throttle body that has a hose that is missing. It looks like that hose pulls this shaft on the other end up. Does any one know where this hose comes from or where it goes ? it's completely missing and have no idea where it goes!! oh yea it's a 1978 280z
