  1. yes i applied air to the acuator with the arm disconnected. it moved back and forth really well, but when conected to the arm it did not move much at all. so you are right the angle cant be good, but i tried going for a run with arm disconected with no wire and i still got high boost(19).
  2. well i tried installing controller both ways and nothing changed. i applied air to the actuator and it hardly moved. i disconected the rod and was told to wire the the lever in position. took it for a run and still 20. i was told that the hole on the turbo might be too small. can that be right? i got it and the actuator from james t. i thought he would know what to give me.
  3. i have a 71 z with a 83 turbo motor. i have a stock waste gate with a home made bracket. i have a t3/t04b turbo. i have a hallman es manual boost controller. i cant get my boost to go lower than 19. i cant turn the rod any more because it has run out of thread. my boost controller does not change a thing. i checked it with my air compressor. when it is all the way out air goes thru and when i tighten it air eventually stops. no mater what setting its at the boost goes up to 19. i have searched and cant find anyone with similer problems. any ideas????
  4. i have oil all over the place. it seems that it is coming from my pc valve. i moved the valve up on top of my intake because there was no room beside the bigger turbo. so now it is upside down. will it work in that position?
  5. so the engine is better! my mechanic had the timing chain in the wrong spot and there was a vacume leak at the throttle body. all that fixed. still overheats. i had the same rad before and after the engine swap. could it be the intercooler is blocking the rad too much? any ideas about getting more cooling? i have a electric fan too. would another fan pushing on the intercooler help?
  6. i had the motor rebuilt and i checked the compression and its from 110 120. is that right?
  7. well bernard has modified my comuter. i only live 1/2 an hour from him. i got the injectors that he told me to get. well i put in more gas and that got the car running at least, i guess with my modified tank i need lots of gas. car still runs ruf and is over heating too. i changed thermistat and no dif. well tks for help i will keep trying
  8. well i have done the 2.8 turbo swap in my 71 240z. i had the motor rebuilt, and installed with a five speed trany, and then i had help with most everything else in my garage. i had a temp intake and j pipe on when i first started it. it ran crappy and would not idle, but it made it a fair ways to another guys place to get the exhuat done and intercooler piping done. when i drove it the second time after that was done it sounded real good. still would not idle but it went real good. revved up quick and took off. on the way back (about 5 mins later ) it was not running so good pressed gas and it would not go kinda bagged out. it was over heating some because i didnt have enough antifreeze in it. then i then took another guy out and it ran ok but not as good as the first time. on the way back it died that was a cooler pipe that had fallen off. fixed and off again but still not great. took it home and i verfy nearlly did not make it. when ever i slowed for a stop sign, i could not get it to rev up again.i would wait so i could get the revs up and go again and it would go ok. now its just worse. if i start it bone cold it will have power enogh to get out of the driveway, and down the street, but as i come to the stop sign it dies. i cant get it to rev up anymore i tried some stuff but i had to push it back home twice. any ideas? i have fuel injection, intercooler, modified gastank, modified computer,bigger injectors, any help would be great
  9. well i just started my car after putting in a new engine in since last summer. a little ruff yet but at least i know its alive! i still have to hook up the intercooler and exhust but its the last things to do. i put in a bigger turbo, 2.8 engine, fuel injection, intercooler, and brakes. i cant wait to try it out!
  10. i put in a 280 motor put in my 240z. i had a mechanic rebuild it. i am ready to start it today , but my mechanic wanted to pre-oil it. is that possible on an engine like this? would it be worth it to try?
  11. so did you have to send him a cam to regrind? or did he grind up one that he had?
  12. i have a setup that is close to yours in my 71 240z. i didnt get a cam because i heard that it didnt do much for the turbo. now i want one like yours. i am up in canada and would like to know if you have number that i can reach the guys that did the cam for you? or even a web site would do too. your numbers look real good!
  13. so z car nut i have a 71 z. if i get the i inch diameter master, and use my booster, that will be enough to push my front and back brake upgrades? how hard will the pedal feel be?
  14. what master cylinder did you use? did you have to drill new holes in the firewall? was it an easy install? looks those brakes
  15. you are thinking exactly like me. i also have a 71 that i am putting in a 83 turbo motor. i am doing just like pjo046 said. i am getting everything he said. i am getting the engine rebuilt by a garage. i am getting him to install it and a 5 speed trans. i am getting a local z guy to help me with the rest. i am still in my 5 k budget. but the z guy and me are doing the wiring, fuel tank, turbo, fuel lines. that is going to help me stay under my budget. good luck and keep at it!
  16. i bought a 60 mm throttle body off ebay. i did not realize that i needed a spacer/adaptor to get it to fit. does any one have one? or know where i can get one? is there anything else that i am missing to get this part to work? i have a 71 240z that i am putting in a 83 turbo motor. tks
  17. i am getting a turbo motor rebuilt. would the motor take a 3.1 stroker rebuild? has anyone ever heard of a 3.1 turbo motor?
