  1. Yeaaaaaaaaaa! pics!

It looks goooood (you need to make the pics larger). I love seeing the different interpretations of this car. Con Brio, you have gone the way I'm taking my build, kind of what this car might be if Enzo decided to produce the 250 as a street car and add it to the Ferrari line-up. Mine of course will have the convertible option which did not come out until 65' :)

I love the grill you chose. It has that 60's Aston Martin, Ferrari, Jag feeling...very cool.

  2. OMG!!!!! I threw a push rod... :(

I'm going to crawl into a bottle of Jack...

That stinks but it could have been a piston rod! Hope you can get it fixed quickly.

...now that the car will be sitting for a few days it would be a great opportunity for a photo shoot;)

  3. I worked over the heads pretty well and also had my machine shop work them some more so hoping they flow as good as they can. But i will definitely be happy with mid-high 12's that is a great starting point and around were i expected it to be.

Do you by chance have the model of the dual pattern cam you suggested so i can take a look and compare. I think the 282s will do fairly well but if the dual pattern takes better advantage of my setup then it sounds like a better fit.

As far as the RPM intake do you think that will be able to handle the higher rpm, im not going insane but wanted to be able to take it to 7-7.5k or so if i am feeling ballsy.

You should worry more about the valve train than the intake manifold if you want 7-7.5K...I see a roller cam setup in your future..and new heads. Go with manual secondaries if you opt for the 5 speed.

  4. btw one little thing to remember is leave clearance for an extension and socket or wrench to access the bolts or better yet install nuts on the studs in the block that secure the oil pan rails to the block, if you can,t access the fasteners with the engine installed in the car its a P.I.T.A.

THANK YOU; that is one of those things you realize after everything is welded up and the engine is sitting in the car.

  5. I like the idea of remote filters and adding capacity to this pan. I've got a good Miller 185 and I'm a decent welder.

I would imagine the main thing determining the sump size would be the headers. I've decided on the Sanderson ones offered on the JTR website (I've got the ZZ4 D-port heads) so once I get the headers I can work on adding some capacity to the sump.

    Thanks for the ideas!

  6. The ONLY reason I bought this 4 qt. oil pan was that it gave me about 3/4" more ground clearance than the stock pan. Since my car is lowered I want any added clearance I can get.

As you can see, the pan has a crank scraper, some baffles and a couple trap doors (all neat but unnecessary for my application). The oil pick-up specifies a high-volume oil pump but since my car will not see rpm's above 5500 and will be more of a weekend toy there is no reason for me to use one.

Please give me opinions on using this pan/with a STOCK volume oil pump on a street driven car. The oil pick-up that came with the pan has a screen made of perforated metal and the surface area is 1.5" x 2.5". This seems to be less area than the stock pick-up so I have concerns with this as well.

I've got a stock volume and a high volume Melling pump. The bodies/cases are the same; the only differenace seems to be the bye-pass spring on the inside (pink-high volume, green- stock volume). I want a very reliable street car so if there are going to be issues with this I have no problem with buying a stock pan/pick-up.

Please chime-in Chevy people, I am very interested in your feed back.

    Thanks.

  7. Zerrari, I prefer these guys for original hardware like lights... not cheap, but great quality. I have bought things for our Lambo as well from them and they sell only nice original or excellent reproductions.

    Hi Chelle,

I tried your source and they told me they were out of stock and did not give any further details. Does anybody else have a source for good quality front turn signals?

  8. For those interested, I've created a website with my progress pics. My kit differs in that I created the molds or altered an existing kit to create a unique design. The changes that I have made to the body are:

-Oval mouth, smaller brake coolent vents

    - small hood with air vents

    - convertable

    - replica fiberglass dash w/ removable nacelle

    -bottom air scoops

I will also have some replica hood pin sets and rear tail lights for those interested. I am currently working on plexi clear air scoops for the hood.

Finally got to check out your website; your car is looking very nice. Are you going to put a rag top on it?

The quality of work going on with everybody's projects is top notch. It is really a great motivator to view the various ideas and the quality execution of those ideas.

  9. Wow, it's great to see a lot of technical posts happening again. I guess spring is here and everybody is getting into their cars (me too, I'm itching from fiberglass as I write this).

I PM'd Con Brio about his extra parts and any sources available for front turn signal lights. The ones I got with the Velo Rossa kit are an LED type with a plastic bezel and I want to go with a higher quality light. Anybody have a good source for these?

    Thanks.

  10. Zerrari GTO - Want to take a shot at writing an new FAQ type thread on that? ;)

It would be really nice to have all the information in one place. What's involved with writing a FAQ thread?...I thought you just requested the information and all the HybridZers joined hands, sang Kum Ba Ya and came forth with unquestionably accurate and factual posts:)

  11. I've been there and done that. In fact, if you search, you'll find my thread on it, and why I ended up buying the CC5s from JTR, but specified D-Port when I ordered. Note that they are generally cheaper from JTR than from Sanderson as well.

You da man Pete. I've been leaning towards iron manifolds so I emailed Sanderson to see if their QP 1000 models have true D ports. If they don't I'll go with the CC5s.

This is the type of info that should go in the recent "good headers for a 350 swap?" post. With all the info on this site about headers it really would be nice to have everything in one place so you didn't have to search all over hell and back. I'm surprised your original post did not lead to a sticky about what headers work on SBC/Z swaps.

  12. Somebody should really research it, post it and we'll make it a sticky. I dare any of you to get that done for us. Double dare you.

    That's what I'm talking about!

There is a sticky for all types of brake conversions...hell, there is even a sticky on converting to a Honda windshield wiper motor but nothing on headers. We really need a compilation of headers/manifolds, the heads they work with and any fitment issues that come into play.

  13.

This is a new thread that was just started a few days ago. It doesn't really cover any specific Z fitment issues. There are tons of posts in HybridZ about headers/manifolds but it would really be nice if there was a definitive thread that answered what brands/models worked without any problems (especially for angle plug heads).

Please let me know if I missed it in here somewhere.

  14. I'm never ordering anything from those bastards again. I ordered a mini starter from them with a heat shield to put in my 305 S10. The heat shield didn't fit worth a ♥♥♥♥, not even close, and the starter wouldn't bolt up to my motor right, the starter gear at rest sat on the flywheel, so that wouldn't work obviously, and I emailed them about returning it and they never even got back to me, but they were happy to reply when I initially emailed them about a question before ordering.

Good to know. The last thing I need is to order some manifolds, have them not fit and get stuck with no service.

I guess my options are back to Sanderson QP1000 manifolds or rams horns.

  15. Thanks Chelle. To be honest it was such a long time ago I'd have to go through my receipts. I do know that I found the supplier through this forum on Hybrid. Someone had posted a link. Again...can't remember who but thanks to everyone who contributes. The interior is now 100% complete!! A little more work to the bonnet before paint and it should be on the road. You once quoted "Get it on the road and start enjoying it. Finish the little stuff as you go" (or something to that effect). Good advice.

    ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!

Would you please quit showing one or two teaser pictures in your posts and give us a real look at your car!!! It looks awesome...but I can't see the whole thing!

Are the tail lights you are using from Finish Line Cobra parts?

  16. Last line on the product description.

Yea, but I've got D-port heads. I talked with a rep there who said even though they are oval port they still work well w/ZZ4 heads. I'm waiting to hear back from them as to whether they know if they will work on a SBC-Z swap. I know the Sanderson QP1000 manifolds http://sanderson.carshopinc.com/product_info.php/products_id/46987/QP1000 will work without machining but I don't like the fact that they don't have all the mounting holes (only four).

  17. Hi Chelle,

I was wondering what you've been up to!

Clean, beautiful work as usual. I think that is the most factory Vintage Air install I've ever seen. Which model did you use and did you use the compressor and condensor from Vintage Air?

  18. I screwed up and originally posted this in the Chevy V8 forum so I reposted again here in hopes the Moderators would have mercy.

What do you guys think of this distributor for a warmed over 327 sbc?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...194979922&rd=1

I like the small cap and don't mind having a separate coil but I want to be sure it will work well for 6000 rpm max engine.

    Thanks for your comments.
