  1. So would these heads hurt the performance on a 305 motor? Any idea what kinda power it would make with those heads? Im just looking at a guess to see what im starting with. Basically I want to swap this into my rhd fairlady z that i have with the wc t5. I have a jtr manual and have read it all. Can any power be made from this motor cheaply?

  3. I just bought a engine from a friends dad out of a truck. Thats all i was told. When I picked it up, I noticed it had center bolt valve covers on it. I thought it was probably a vortec motor. I came home and ran the head and block numbers to find some things out. The head number is 14101083 which shows Gen 1 crate 285 or 300 hp motor 64 cc chamber 72' center manfold bolt angle. The block showed the number 14088531 which i cannot find on the net at all. I know that its a 250 cubic inch motor with a 4 barrel carb intake on it. Does anyone have any ideas about this? Now for another question. I figure it has dished pistons in it. If i bought the summit rebuild kit with the flat top pistons would it raise my compression any? Also what is a good cam for a mild build? Are the summit cams any good?
  4. Its been in storage for 11-17 years thats why i say the body really isnt that bad on it. Just where there rear flares used to be is where it rusted at.

  8. im gathering parts as we speak to start the build, Ill be using a camaro t5 i think casuse it bolts to gen 1 motors

  10. Thanks again guys for all the post. I like the way flat black put it and i love his car. Hot rod black is badass. I want to go v8 swap with a manual fix any and all rust first. I plan on reinforcing the chassis and it shouldnt be to hard to do since im a fabricator by profession. The 280zx i have is cool by it still doesnt feel like my trans am did so thats why im leaning that direction with the v8. Im not planning to get rid of it, so resale isnt a big factor to me.
  11. No rust on it other than the rear quarter and jacked up front fender. I picked up a lt1 out of a ss impala today for $50. Ill have to see where i can go with it. Thanks for all the comments guys. All the attention makes the car feel special........
  12. It blows my mind that they had it also. The fact that it is a jdm car is f***ing amazing. Right hand steer is badass, but Im not so sure about shifting left handed. Looks like Im gonna have to get out the fast and furious movies. I already have a 280zxt and love it, so i know ill love the fairlady too. Hopefully ill be able to find a Lt1 and a t56, but thats on the pricey side of things and im only 20 and me and my wife just built a house. Will an extra turbo t-5 tranny bolt up to the sbc that i have?
  13. Hey guys, i know its probably frowned on. But I was curious about a sbc and 4 or 5 speed swap into my car. I already have a 406 sbc and was curious cause its ready to drop in. is there going to be a problem using the stock pedals and linkage for the carb and clutch and taht stuff? Can you think of any issues ill have with this?

  15. It shouldnt be much of a money pit. new fender-200 new hood- 340 new quarters-75 each Hopefully i can find a hood and fender used and save some money. I really dont wanna sell it. I found it in Town and country junkyard in Amanda, Ohio. Its right close to Lancaster on 22. Thanks for all the comments guys.

  17. Yep. I have full intions of getting new quarters from black dragon, a new fender and hood and call it a day on the body. I want to add the L26 crank to the L24 find some Su carbs. Ill have to get your guys help with the head and or what to do to it. Hopefully it will be a pretty good car once things get going. Its story is that it was abbandoned in a storage unit. The storage unit owner kept it for 11 years and now the junkyard got it and sold it to me. Vlave cover has been off though, so hopefully the motor inst locked up.
  18. Hey guys, just wanted to show you what my bosses friend had in his scrap yard. 1971 RHD Fairlady Z for $350 american. Its missing hood,carbs, junk right side fender, and rust rear quarters. It has good floors,frame doors, roof, hatch, and both mirrors. Enjoy.
  19. Ok, I turned the boost down to 8 for about 10 and it feels exactly the same. But it may just feel slow since i was driving my dads 04 mustang. Its much faster than my car:(
  20. How do yo keep it to run with no afm? Also how are you not melting the filter?
  21. That thought came to mind, but after Most people said plug it, I went ahead and went that route. Plus it only cost 2$$

  23. I actually put one in from jegs in place of the factory one before I increased boost levels.
