  1. I'm sure the Vic JR based FI manifold will out flow the Stealth Ram. This is one of the few times I chose form over function. Don
  2. Getting there... I still have quite a bit of work to do before I can drive it. Don
  3. With a bit of luck, I'll get it running this weekend. I don't know how long it will take to get it fine tuned. I have never had the car on a dyno. I did manage to run 11.16 @ 122 in the 1/4 mile with the carb. At 2800 lbs, that works out to about 400 RWHP. I hope I can get close to that with the EFI. Don
  4. I can confirm that the Holley Stealth Ram fits under the stock hood. '72 240Z w/383 ci SBC in JTR position Don
  5. Thanks, guys. I'm looking forward to doing the swap. I've got the Stealth Ram fuel rails and FPR, LT1 TB, and 36lb injectors. My current MSD dist should clear the plenum. I still need to get a EFI fuel pump. I'll probably get a Walbro 255lph. I plan to use the MegaSquirt that I've got running on my '78 280Z. I don't expect to gain much HP. I think my current setup is tuned pretty well. This will enable the addition of boost in the future... Don
  6. Ford Motorsport: F7PU-9F593-A4A Advertised on Ebay as 36lb/hr. I'd like to verify before I start assembly and tuning. Thanks, Don
  7. I'll be finding out soon. Santa brought me one... After 40,000 miles on the Q-jet, it's time to try EFI! Don
  8. I average 18-20 MPG on my commute, about 400 miles per week. '72 240Z, 383ci SBC, 200-4R, 850 CFM Q-jet 1/4 mile: 11.6 @ 120 0-60: 3.2 seconds Don
  9. Mike, I'm using a stock seat with the 5-point harness. I cut a hole in the seat back for the shoulder belts to pass through. The shoulder belts mount(wrap around) to the back brace on the roll bar. The lap belts mount to the factory lap belt locations, and the submarine belt mounts to the brace that the front of the seat rails bolt to. Guy, All you need is a 5-point roll bar for 11's. The main hoop, two rear braces, and a door bar on the drivers side. Don
  10. Mike, NHRA requires a 5-point harness when you hit 11's. You will also need a SFI approved jacket. Don

Not all 280z's had R200's. I have a '78 w/auto trans and it has a R180. Do a search. I think someone posted pics of both R180 and R200 bars... Don
  12. There should be room to drill/tap for a 5/16" stud. My Holley HP4150 uses a 5/16" stud... Don
  13. Looking good! Can't wait to see it all painted! Don
  14. I'm with Mike C on this one. I picked up a 3.5 open diff out of a '86 300zxt for $50 and swapped in the LSD unit. I used the shims from the LSD diff and the backlash ended up the same as before I started the swap, .007". Don
  15. Mike, I've got coil over's on my '72. With a 15x8 wheel with 5" BS and 235/60-15 BFG DR's, I have about 1/2" between the tire side wall and the threaded sleeve(coil over). The section width is 10" for the 235/60-15 BFG DR's when mounted on 8" wheels. Without the coil over's, maybe use a 5" BS and then a thin spacer if you have clearance problems with the spring perch? Good luck! Don
  16. This is actually the second '78 280Z that I bought for $100. The first one has a running L28 engine and auto trans. It too has a sunroof. I'm thinking about pulling the 350 SBC and powerglide out of my '72 Nova and putting them in one of the 280's. This would be a drag race only car. The Nova runs 10.7's. The 280z should be about 500 lbs lighter so it should run low 10's if I can get it to hook! Don
  17. DOH! Try this... http://photos.yahoo.com/dmanzo57 The folder is named 280z-2. I also forgot to change the permissions on the folder to public. The link should work now. Don
  18. 280Z I picked this car up in Sacramento last Saturday. No engine or trans, but the body is in great shape(except for having the sunroof). My wife is not happy with me . Don
  19. Here's another option... Buy a pair of AFR 190 heads and Ebay your current heads. Try to get the quench area to about .040" when you reassemble. This should get you into the 11's with your 350 without going broke. Don PS: If you don't already have a line-lock, get one.
  20. I drove almost three hours only to find out that the race was cancelled. Apparently the organizer, CMI, went broke. Don
  21. I have yet to see a new 350Z at the drag strip. I don't get out to Sacramento Raceway very often. It's about a 3 hour drive for me. Don
  22. I plan on going this Saturday. I installed a 3.55 LSD and I hope to improve on by previous best of 11.58. Either that or break a 1/2 shaft! Gates open at 4pm... Don
