    Keep in mind that the Datusn speedo uses 1024 revs per mile vs 1001 revs per mile when you do the math for the speedo gears.

     

    I would recommend a good shift kit for the 200-4R if you plan to do any spirited driving. I put a stock rebuilt 200-4R behind my 383 in my '72 240z and it would slip on full throttle shifts. I installed a transgo shift kit and it made a world of difference. Unfortunately, some damage was already done and after several trips to the drag strip second gear is now toasted.

     

    I had some clearance problems with the trans cooler lines. I had to install right angle fittings in the trans case to clear the tunnel.

  2. Congratulations on getting the car on the road!

     

    I had the same problem the first time I drove my car after installing the V8. I tried a new stock mount, but it did not solve the problem. I ended up drilling and tapping two holes in the front of the diff mount and bolting on a piece of 2" angle iron that extends under the crossmember. The angle iron limits the upward movement of the diff to about 1/4".

    I've got a 200-4R behind the 383 in my 240Z. I bought it for $250 as a stock rebuilt unit and then added a Trans-go shift kit. I've put about 6K miles on it and 2 trips to the drag strip this year. So far, it's holding up well.

  4. I've got a MSD6AL ignition in my V8 powered '72 240Z. I had to install a MSD Tach Adapter, part number 8910, in order to get the stock tach to work.

     

    There is a adjustment screw in the back of the tach that can be used to calibrate the tach for the V8. JTR says to remove that tach from the dash for adjustment, but it can be done by reaching up from under the dash.

     

    I used the rev limiter to calibrate the tach by installing a 3K RPM module and then adjusting the tach until it read 3K when up against the limiter.

  7. I remember having a tough time installing mine. I had to remove the polyurethane bushings from the mustache bar. Place one half of the bushing and the metal sleeve on the long stud, slide the mustache bar over the stud and bushing, then install the other half of the bushing.

    My engine is based on the 460HP 383. My 1/4 mile times show that it makes ~425 HP(flywheel) through a single 3" exhaust system.

     

    I had been driving it daily to work, 64 miles round trip, until I broke the differential at the drag strip. The engine has been very reliable and streetable. I was getting about 16 MPG on my commute, 1 hour to drive 32 miles.

  9. I asked the guy at Powertrax for dimensions and spline count for the C200 unit. He said he would send the overall dimensions once the drawings are finalized, but did not know when that would be. He did state that it had a 7.8" ring gear and 29 spline.

  10. Has anyone heard of a C200 differential?

     

    I sent email to Powertrax asking if they were working on a locker unit for the Nissan R200 differential. The response was "We are in design with the C200 differential I don't know if it is the same".

     

    Is the R200 also known as a C200, or are they completely different?

  11. I'm using the factory tach in my '72 240z. I'm using a MSD distributor and MSD6AL ignition box. I had to use the MSD tach adaptor to get the 240z(current triggered) tach to work. I calibrated it using the RPM limiter set to 3K RPM. After calibrating at 3K, I set the limit to 6K and the tach reads around 6200 when the limiter kicks in. It's close enough for me...
