Well it seems as though the Nissan gods have smiled upon me! what a great day! i get to school, and take a look at this "GTR" for the first time...its got all the badges but upon inspection of the front bumper....its a GT-S style? what the ****?....i take a peek into the interior, and thats when i see....DUN-Dun-DUN an automatic transmission! Hahahaha! its a GTS with R badges! sad sad sad. Guess ill need to have a run with him to show him who's boss! 280zforce gave me a hell of a deal on some turbo parts too, so i can stay King of the Highschool! muahahaha.
-
Lol, but then i cant say that I beat him
-
Haha, nope, its that dark grey/gunmetal color, quite a few GTR's up here actually.
-
Really? would you be willing to be the middle man? think he would ship to Canada?

There is a new badass car at my highschool now, an 89 Gtr-32! It has all the markings of a GTR but i'll need to see under the hood to be sure. Anyways...Is my 78 280z going to stand up to this thing at all? i'm installing a Stage V 300 deg 0.56 lift schneider racing cam, and i have a header installed, as well as an intake and a recent tune up. Am i going to hang with this thing? or do i need to hurry up and turbo my car? i am in the market for a 280zx turbo exhaust manifold, but i'm sure our cars will meet before i find one. So with those mods and my car being stripped down as much as possible, what are my chances?

Ok, i want to get a few questions out at once, so here goes I have a 1978 Datsun 280z, and i am just finishing up boxing the rails and painting it, coating the underbody. I have been trying to get an L28et for quite a while now but no dice, they are not common in Calgary. Si i have decided to pull my motor, and while its out blast my engine bay, paint it as well, replace all the body electricals and bend a custom fuel system for the car, as well as add a fuel Cell. Now, from NWME i can get an L28 engine rebuild kit (Gaskets, Pistons, Rings, Bearings, Seals ect, ect) for under $500 Canadian, so i was wanting to know if its a solid idea to do a complete tear down and rebuild of my L28, get new injectors, a fuel rail, a 3" exhaust system, and some other mild bolt ons, including a ported and cleaned up intake manifold, and a bigger TB. In a short time i want to Turbocharge this motor, i think with the rebuild kit it will be more than strong enough to take about 10psi of boost, but i want to know if the Turbo exhaust manifold will bolt to the head, and how well my ported/polished head will react with boost. Also, i relize i would havto run a stand alone system, thats not a problem because i can get a good discount on one from my local parts store, has anyone run stand alone on there turboed L28? Thanks for reading the post, if you have any suggestions for me, i would appreciate the help.

Hey guys, i have a quick question, if i install an 83 L28 into my car, can i just swap ecu's if i bolt on a turbo and manifold from an ET?
-
Hey guys, i just came across an 83 Zxt that has been sitting in a field for over 12 years, but the motor looks to be in great condition with under 100,000km's. What do you think would be a wise offer?

I work at partsource and i can get a Fbody radiator for pretty cheap, so this will work with the JTR rad mounting kit?
-
Hey guys, JTR says that Stealth conversions has the best rad for the job, and its a modified 84-86 Camaro Radiator, how well will the OEM replacement work with a 350? will it work with the JTR mounts and cool decently? thanks.
-
Quick question guys, Is a S14 VLSD a wise choice for a 350 powered 280z? how tough would it be to mount that sucker? possible? i can get one right now for $150! thanks guys.
-
Thanks alot mike, i think the front bumper will be fine already, because my car has a chrome 240z bumber on it already, the rear will be the tough part. Ill havto get my hands on one of those rivet guns
-
Can anyone tell me if i will have fitment issues on my 78 280z with the MSA ZG Fibreglass flairs, Ducted Air dam, type 3 skirts, and fibreglass front and rear bumpers? i can see that with the bumpers it says only with 240z, how can i use these on my car? thanks.

One quick question...Why 2 bolt?
-
So i am fast approaching the time to order my JTR 350swap kit, because i want thing thing done by spring (i just finished all the metal work and welding) so i was wondering, are their some things in the JTR kit i am better of buying seperate? like better header options, and cooling, ect ect. I also would like to know what things i need that are not in the JTR package, that i should pick up.
-
Well, got the Z down to the guy who's helping me with the metal work, and he thinks i should call a frame shop and ask them what there inspection policy is on these cars, before he works on my rails. Now, this is scaring the **** out of me, if we replace the frame rails, will there be a problem getting this thing to pass safety? anything you guys can recommend to make sure it passes? thanks.
-
Sounds great, where do you recommend i buy suspension and bushing replacements? just looking for the best deal, due to the fact that i'm in Canada, and anything i buy for my Z comes from the U.S.
-
Great, ill pick it up pretty soon! While im at it, why not ask a couple more questions? no need for new threads. The one part of this project that really has be in a bind is the suspension. If there is one "man" im not, its suspension, definetly not a suspension man. My question is, if you had a 1978 Datsun 280z, what exactly would you buy from MSA or Victoria British for suspension? im not even sure what bushing replacements i should buy, considering i want new Struts, Springs, coilovers, swaybars, and the JTR mounts and cross members. if anyone could go through and makes some suggestions as to what i should buy, i would be a very happy person. Also, if i got a new brake master cylinder, lines, Premium pads, Shoes, rotors and drums, would this provide enough stopping power? i really dont want to convert to rear disk, too pricey.
-
damn mike, i would love to buy your 383, but im nothing more than a poor 16 year old. Sadly, my JTR book is at a pals house right now, anyone remember how tough it is to put a Chev T5 in my datsun? with the setup my 350 is running, would the T5 hold out? because i just came across a T5 from a V8 Camaro for around $400 with bellhousing and clutch, dont know if i should bite or not.
-
So i guess realisticly im shooting for 350hp at the crank? thats still enough for me, when i get the motor in it i will be buying a 5.7 Vortec, doing a stroker kit, then finally turbocharging it, so this motor is not perminant.
-
Hey guys, i have a 350sbc with a TH350, and i am shooting for about 350hp to the wheels, this is the comb i am going with. New rings, Main and Cam bearings, 650cfm Edelbrock, Performer intake manifold, 270 Comp cam, lifters, MSD ignition system with rev limiter, P&P 305 heads, and sanderson headers. What else do i need to do in order to make around 350hp? i have not dynoed the engine yet, i plan on doing so when the car is 100% finished. Also, is this a good head choice for my engine? some people tell me that it is a good choice for high compression, others say that the flow restrictions are not worth it, even with a decent port and polish job.
-
Ok, can i get this straight? you can not simply bolt a T5 on a 70's 350? i would really prefer a standard tranny in my Z, and i cant really afford a T56 right now....
-
Got mine from a 77 impala, 4barrell, 4bolt, (motor doesnt even smoke) 700cfm carb, high flow heads, and a TH350 Transmission all for $350 Canadian! haha, these engines are so common that its hard not to come across a good deal.

sorry if this is sort of off topic, but i dont think its right to start another thread. Me and a friend are starting another project car, a 1978 Datsun 280z. Our plan is to put in a rebuild 350SBC, and use the Jags that run mounts and headers. We want to use a T56 tranny from a wrecking yard, but i would like to know if there would be any issues with the tranny and those mounts fitting correctly. Also, can anyone reccomend what i should be using for a diff? is the stock r200 enough to support a mild carbed 350 with a 6spd? thanks, and once again, sorry for the highjack.
