  1. still funny none the less... there are SOME women that stupid.
  2. http://www.car-part.com not sure about other 'used' sources...
  3. get a bond of title.. i had to do this with my 280zx. the state had be get two appraisals and then a bond for the next thousand up. ie. 800 > 1000 bond, 2500 > 3000 bond. Carmax and a car mechanic did my appraisals. Easy as pie. -Jon
  4. lmao my gf got pissed off at me when I showed her that =P funny as hell!
  5. Thanks for the info, seems like thats the route I'm going to go =D appreciate it a lot!
  6. I just checked the motorsport auto link and saw something that I like! The kit thats 560 for my car! Doesn't seem too bad at all. Dale, How hard is the installation of the covers? Something an inexperienced person can do? It says it comes with an installation tool, etc.. what kinda stuff does it mean? Looks promising! Please let me know -Jon
  7. I had been looking for some diff seats.. IE. rx-7, z32, etc. However, they all seem to be the wrong color or crap condition. I think I need to find a shop that is willing to reupholster mine. I emailed some distributor for katzkin and he said if I removed the old from my seats he could make me some for like 595. Which is both front seats, buckets in leather, the rest in viynl (sides/back). Not too bad, but I don't really know what to do. I guess I'll keep an eye out on ebay and classifieds. Thanks for the opinions again! =)
  8. someone on z31.com linked me to a site that carries the oem stuff, expensive... but CHEAPER than new seats haha =D I knew there had to be a way, it'd be crazy not to have something thats only 18 years old =) -Jon
  9. 1988 300zx =/ I have been trying to figure out what to do with my seats.. both the driver and passenger seats are tearing up pretty much all around. I was attempting to get them reupholstered but nobody wants to do anything custom for under a thousand. They all tell me that if katzkin or a company of that nature made a kit, that they would be able to do it for 600~. It's getting aggrivating because I'd like to have the stock seats (*drools over 50 way power*) -- exaggeration but none the less. I have been looking around at aftermarket seats on ebay and the like. Found a few I liked, took a look at some wannabe nismo, the dad seats, and so on.. however.. everyone says 'DON'T BUY EBAY SEATS.' Why? They're not FIA approved. Why can't FIA approved seats be 350 shipped like ebay seats =( lol.. So I took some time and thought 'live or die?' Well, I chose live. So basically that means, find an upholstrey kit or buy some expensive (~1000) aftermarket seats. I can't find a damn thing in the way of an upholstrey kit, so that seems like it's out. I've been looking at the corbeau A4 (800 shipped) CR1 seats (1000 shipped). INCL brackets. Anyone got any suggestions? -Jon ps. couldn't figure out where to put this, not really techie so yah =P
  10. Just wanted to say, very nice clean car. Tasteful.. gj Also as far as price, just wait until someone offers you enough money that you don't think twice. Thats what it's worth.
  11. Can ANYONE get these (jdm z31 mounts / x-member)? or tell me where to get them? A lot of companies I've emailed have told me it's too expensive to go looking for, or they just plain don't want to try. I don't wanna spend like a grand on it, but I'm willing to go fairly high. If I could even get a CAD drawing of the mounts and maybe pictures or something I could manage.. Thanks -Jon
  12. nothing beats a real weld.. jb is when you cant manage anything else.. and you definately don't want to make a performance part w/jb weld. my .02$ -Jon
  13. Yeah I went through a few more posts last night and noticed what kinda things were said to be needed to swap rbs into the datsun Z cars (older ones I mean =P). Most of which stated z31 mounts, pan, etc. So now if only I can either find a clip or a source for the mounts. Obviously I don't have the straight money to drop right away, nor do I have a place to swap atm. However, I'm shooting for sometime in May to put money on a motor and get everything I need. So basically now I'm just doing research to find out where/when/how and what not. If anyone has done this swap or has links to anyone who has done it I'd appretiate it. I'm just trying to find a swap where it doesn't require a whole lot of custom fabricating... and I'd imagine an rb would be the easiest thing considering it DID come in the same car =P Later, -Jon
  14. I've been contemplating this in my head for quite a while... basically I've been thinking about the fact that the z31 in japan came with a rb20det. I can't think of why it wouldn't just drop in, as far as sittin in the engine bay anyway. Even considering the transmission and drivetrain. The majority of it should just drop in and go.. However, I understand there would be clearence issues with steering and what not but my real question is, does the 200zr use the same front x-member and mounts? or would the x-member from a 200zr fit right into a usdm z31? If anyone has any information on this I would greately appretiate it. I can't exactly read or speak japanese so googling a 200zr doesn't yield much results. Also, where would I go about finding a 200zr clip? Or a source for the mounts and what not? Also, if a 20 fits, wouldn't a 25/26? Thanks, -Jon
  15. Definately not something to be taken lightly, however... there are down sides to everything and you can't let that stop you from doing something you'd enjoy. There are also a lot of jobs that are 'higher up.' You can always look at the investigation side of things, such as forensic science and what not. I personally want to do something federal, not state or local. Like I've seen stated here many times, you have to be sure you can take responsibility for what you're doing. To be compassionate to everyone yet still do your job. It takes a certain personality to do the job, and a lot of the cops I've met don't have it. It seems like every time I'm doing the right thing, working torwards what the 'law' says... they bust my ass down and make it hard for me to go on. I hate cops that have 'the attitude,' it's horrible how they can have no mercy. Most can't put 2 and 2 together, they just want another 'positive thing' on their record. Anyways, enough rambling... Go where your heart takes you. You can always turn back and find something else. If you havn't heard about customs & immigration hiring, I think the total is about 14 thousand jobs (don't count on that, I know customs is around 4k). Good Luck finding what makes you happy!
  16. definately is a fun thing i would say. i'm 19 years old, to be 20 soon and i'm at the same point in my life. trying to decide what to do for the rest of my life and it sucks because every time i think of something it always changes. i suggest you go talk to a few people that have done it and see what they have to say. i really have been thinking of going into that field myself, seems like it'd be interesting. something you could go to work everyday and something different happens.. thats all i want =P GL deciding, and remember.. even if you do follow through with that.. you're not really committing to anything. you can always try something else. -Jon

  18. are there any gatherings that go down in houston? pref Z related, looking for something to do on the weekends lol =P -Jon
  19. LOL, fun stuff.. I think the autozone idea would be best for me, thats generally where I get stuff anyway. Up in dallas the 24hr autozone knew me by name since I was always up there spending my paycheck on parts haha =) Did work quite often up there. We'll see what happens I suppose, not really going to do anything major to the car until I get back to dallas anyway. -Jon
  20. Yeah, I totally understand where they're coming from = It's just the fact that something SOOO simple, can be turned into such a big deal. I mean its plugs and a fuel filter... I had already decided I'd go to a buds place to do the CAT. I understood all of that, and I'm really a clean person. I clean up EVERYTHING lol. Oh, well.. I tried. When I move back to dallas I'm definately going to look for a house to lease or apartments with a garage. Fun times, fun times.. -Jon
  21. Yeah well, I recently got my car back from the shop getting suspension work done.. Shocks, springs, bushings, solid mounts, etc. So I'm really happy.. I got the car registered and all I lack is an inspection to be 100% legal right? Well, I get up this morning with the intent of going to autozone and buying the 'tune-up' kit. Ie. plugs, wires, o2 sensor, cap, rotor, fuel filter, etc. So I go get all of the stuff to make it happen. Well, I get back to my apartments and get to work.. Get the rotor and cap changed out and start tryin to do the plugs. I decide to go inside to look for a longer extension (300zxs are a bitch lol). Anyway, as I'm walkin inside.. the guy that runs the apartments comes running up behind me. I'm sittin here like 'damnit.' I knew he was going to say something stupid to me lol. Btw, I had a problem like this before.. however it was certainly understandable. He had told me I couldn't clean my engine bay in the parking lot (no duh, dunno why I was doing it lol). Anyway, he starts telling me 'I told you, you can't do that in the parking lot!' Uhhh ok, you told me I couldnt get the ground messed up (pavement). 'Well you're working on your car!' ... ok ... and I told him, 'I wasn't doing anything messy, nothing that would even remotely touch the pavement.' And then he just tells me 'Well you're hands are dirty!' WTF?! Like I'm gonna go crawling around on the ground or something just to get his pavement dirty? LOL. Anyways, Now I can't do any of the tune up because of the bastard people that run this place. If you have a Z, don't live in apartments =/ gay. *breathe* -Jon
