  2. if you get the first set of seats please let me know how you like them my Z came with some holed up seats from hell, the drivers seat is in the psgr side and same with the psgr one.. (drivers side). and everythings jacked up. hopefully they fit nicely in the Z, as they aren't too bad price wise =) latez
  3. i'd kinda like to find some nice pads for my 280 also.. only places i've really found any are the autozone kinda thing. however, they're not the best lol =) lemmy know if you know a good place to get some rotors too =P thanks, -jon

  7. I was stupid enough to not pay enough attention and bought my fuel pump on ebay.. it came with a kit, but no pigtail plug. (the pump is going into a z31).. Any ideas on where I can get ahold of one of these guys? Thanks, -jon

  9. I don't know that this has anything to do with that.. but everytime I start my car, it stays at 0 for like 15 seconds.. or until I get to 2200rpm or so. no idea -jon
  10. can you say... EVERY fusable link was blown. tore up the box that they were in and made my own ghetto setup with female fuses =P and the Z rocks now.. perfect alternator charging, plenty of power all around, starts up easier/smoother.. its just great =) thanks for the help guys =D
  11. checked fuses; -replaced a few dead ones.. nothing changed. checked fusable links; -one was fried and the connecter wouldnt seperate, ended up breaking.. it got so heated that the metal melted together rofl.. however this was the ACC link.. so i dunno. i tried using some 10 gauge wire and bypassing the link, didn't change anything. gave up for tonight, ill try some more tomm night checked battery; -battery was inspected and said to be fully charged and in perfect working condition. thanks again -jon
  12. i was leaving my friends house one night and i went around the corner a bit too fast and my battery slid over.. causing the positive terminal to make contact with the hood.. sparks etc.. pulled over, car started back up just fine and everything.. i was taking my car up to the court house today and it died when i just about got there.. no apparent reason. pull over, get a jump start runs fine.. drove to the closest pep boys and decided to go ahead and replace my terminals (when the battery touched hood it melted half of one of the terminals -- i thought that might've caused the car to lose power). so i replaced my battery terminals and everything, get in the car try to start and... NOTHING happens. i don't know if i touched the two +/- together or what.. (friend was helping me do it..). so anyway, basically i have no cranking power at all, no acc come on or anything when the key is in the on position. they tested my battery there and it had a full charge. i also even tried hooking up my other car to it (jumper cables).. nothing happens, same result. i checked fuses and all inside.. i don't know if maybe i friend the cables or if that could've messed up a relay or what. i checked all connections and tried 50 diff ways to get it to work, with no positive results. so im like wtf at this point.. my 280 is sitting with windows down at a pep boyz.. yay :/ any ideas would be appretiated.. so i can get an idea of where to start.
  13. ahh sorry, saw someone comment on it being a 20gal tank (however i filled it up and it took like 18.5 gallons.. lol?) but yes, i suppose its around 18mpg (havnt used the WHOLE tank, down to an 1/8th) makes me feel a bit better though hehe
  14. sadly, i've been getting approximately 14-16mpg i'd say.. full tank of (93 octane) premium @ high 200s to 300 miles or so.. i run very rich though haha
  15. mechanic called me this morning before work *while i was asleep* .. called him back a few hours later and he said the car was running fine, didn't say he did anything.. just said he went out and started it and it ran..? lol. could i get any luckier? prob not. the idle is a bit rough, but it appears i have an electrical problem.. when i sit there and idle the every once and a while i notice the volt meter shoot to 0 and the lights dim real bad. so i'm not sure if this is an alternator problem or just a short in some wires.. i'll drive it around some more and see what i can determine. *wonders if the mechanic didn't do something stupid and realised it* just happy its running hehe nice thing is this gave me a reason to do the fuel pump, woot! thanks for the input, i appretiate the help hehe -jon

  17. ahh i wish someone could help me pinpoint the problem, or tell me a way i can figure out what it is.. the mechanic that installed my clutch/flywheel/tranny believes its the fuel pump, so i went ahead and ordered a walbro 255. we'll see if this helps the problem, if not i guess its just replacing stuff until it runs correctly, costly but effective i suppose =/ going to clean the tank when i replace the pump, also replace my lines *or clean them* not too sure yet. and then the next things i guess i'll go for are the FPR, CSV, AIV, and finally.. the ECU. also going to do the fusable link conversion to actual fuses, saw it in a post somewhere around here, maybe that'll help me out some latez, -jon
  18. this is an exact copy of what a posted on another Z forum cos hybridz was down when i wanted to post lol so anyway here goes, *82 280zx non turbo* I recently bought a new flywheel (lightweight alum fidanza, and a spec stage 3 clutch..). I took the car to a shop and had the guy install them, however before installing he notified me that my transmission was shot to hell, so was the flywheel and clutch(the old ones). Everything was SCREWED. So I went about bought a used 100k mile transmission and gave it to him to complete the install. Install is complete, guy calls me up.. 'Your car won't stay on..' I'm like.. '.. ok ..' So I go and check it out, right he was (too bad he wasn't there to talk about it with, gone for the day.) So now the car will start, but it gives you shit about starting it up, and if you let off the gas itll go to a very low rpm and idle for a minute, or straight die. We bought starter fluid to help getting it started, worked to a degree.. eventually it started idling a bit higher, but it would proceed to die. Anytime its idling, you push in the gas, it chokes.. you let it off, the rpms shoot up *dependant on how hard you gas it* We came to the conclusion -fuel problem-. So we decide, lets relieve the pressure and try again. So we do it, no changes. Then we decide, how about we replace the fuel filter (i'm still on the first tank of gas the car has had in a year.. nice 93 octane chevron gas and some injector cleaner in it *not the cheap shit*). So replace the filter, little bit better, but nothing special, still gives me shit. The starter fluid helps to the extent that, continuously spraying, the car idles perfect.. stop spraying *die*. So our conclusion is, its just not getting the fuel it needs, for whatever reason. A few people first suggested grounds, fusable links, etc. However, I know the grounds are fine.. fusable links.. no idea, is this a possibility really? Some of my friends believe maybe the ECU died (as if maybe he forgot to disconnect the negative battery terminal and the ground on the starter/engine/tranny *one bolt* made and lost contact enough to short it out), or maybe the injectors are messed up. Also the cold start valve has been suggested, as well as the air idle valve. The sad thing is.. It ran perfectly fine previous to taking the car there. So I don't really see how shit could go wrong like that over the course of two days..? If anyone has experienced any of these problems or has any suggestions.. I'm open to try anything really. appretiate it.. thanks, jon
  19. anyone ever tried running this muffler on a l28? i personally think the stock 350s and g35s have a very nice sound to them so i was thinking about buying one and trying to put it on the Z. any comments or suggestions on where i might look? this is the first time google has failed me >

  23. holy crap. the Z i bought literally isnt registered at all.. the title is out of whack and now i have to get the damn car appraised by 2 people, get it inspected, fill out a 'state of fact form,' get a bonded title, and a ton of stupid crap.. just to register a car i bought for 200$... lady said i was screwed if i get pulled over trying to do the appraisal stuff.. or inspection.. yeah. told me to pay to have to car towed.. so get this.. i gotta pay MORE money, so they can tax me for MORE money. i gotta say this is some stupid bs.. the state of texas pisses me off =|
