    IRC chat?

could always use irc.350zx.com like the z31.com crowd does.. it'd be nice to have easy access to people.. to ask questions and what not *without having to post* =P
  2. I will not have any emissions stuff anyway, so that doesn't matter to me! =) Welp, now I need to get my car back together so I can proceed with the catch can! I think I'm going to get one of those blue anodized (sp?) ones and make my engine bay look a tad more sexy! Thanks for all the information man, I think you pretty much cleared it all up for me (and probably everyone else.) JUNKYARD TIME! (in 6 hours) woot later, -jon
  3. Oh ok, nice link btw. The steel wool is also a very good idea hehe. I think thats exactly what I'll do then. So.. does the hose coming from the valve cover still go straight into the intake manifold? Isn't that just another way the oil would get into the intake? Or would we vent the valve cover? Or what? *getting less and less confused* only a matter of time now! haha
  4. No, I'm not sure it doesn't have a vent.. the link to the auction is under the picture.. you can look at like 30 diff pictures lol.. another,
  5. Ok, thank you SOOO much for clearing that up. Thank god someone is willing to explain things to me =) Now I understand what you do and don't want. Also, As far as venting them.. you can just buy some of the breathers off of summit, that don't allow oil to leave it, just air. I believe they're like 7 bucks + shipping. Thanks again.
  6. So then how would you keep it pressurized without just using the stock locations? From what I understood you WANT it to stay pressurized. I am very confused. =/ breather? where? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7910896765&category=46098
  7. All I know is that I'm going to buy a catch can and run a hose from both places (valve cover and block). Its the only way I can see keeping the pressure *(wrong, now i know)* and what not how it should be. but i could be wrong, that wouldn't be anything new... -Jon
  8. any idea what part # the kit for the Z is? i'm having a hard time figuring it out myself lol =/ Thanks, -Jon
  9. damn, late and night i love these kind of statements.. so simple and to the point. everything else confuses the living hell out of me. i'm pretty much confused on exactly what i should do.. i just ordered a non-egr intake mani, and i'd like to have some kind of idea what works best. what i can tell from reading through everything is that there are three options: a) block the pcv off and run a catch can from the valve cover.. buy a baffled breather or one that doesn't allow oil (just air) to pass through. c) run the stock pcv setup and have oil and other deposits put into your intake tract. a - but, is this true? run a catch can off of the valve cover and just block off the part coming out of the block? if so, is the piece coming out of the block just threaded in? ie. can i just undo it and replace it with a plug? b - hell of a lot cheaper than a catch can. c - is there a place to hook up the pcv system on the non-egr manifolds? (i'd assume so, but i don't have it in my possession yet.) boy, i've gotten myself into a mess here! =) thanks, -jon
  10. very cool, would be nice to have one of those wouldnt it
  11. yep, the rad works nice.. the intake is a 80$ k&n (free -- thanks to my friend) w/home depot special later, -jon
  12. hah, i need one of those for my 280zx =/ no condenser, jacked up lines.. everything screwed =/
  13. I'm thinkin about sending my old injectors in to the cruizin performance place, 72$ it says. if i pulled the injectors straight off of the rail and out of the hole, it would have all of the stuff on it right? ie. seals and o-rings (i noticed it says to include when sending). thanks, jon
  14. Yeah, I used to search function and found the specs on the injectors and what not.. I know his OLD fuel rails were DSM (searched more.) New ones don't seem to be however. That answered my question, the compatibility with stock ecu. I will just go ahead and replace my seals and what not, and just *hope* that fixes it. thanks for the info and what not, i really just wanted a general opinion.. and you hit it right on. appretiate it. -jon
  15. btw, if its not *too* much more cc wise, you can drill out the MAF and adjust the A/F ratio there
  16. Ok, my car has two leaky fuel injectors at the moment.. and I want to replace them. However, I've seen the aftermarket fuel rails like the JSK one.. and I HATE the stock one. I will be replacing all of my hosing under the hood with some nice steel braided hose + fittings. I would like to also replace the fuel rail. I read somewhere *i thought* .. that the JSK fuel rail used DSM injectors. So I figured 'cool, now I can just find some dsm injectors that are the same cc as mine, and just pull one set, and then two more and be done.' Well, I looked on ebay, and DSM injectors are 450cc. My problem is obvious, how do I tune down the fuel supply? FPR or what? I want to upgrade the injectors and shit for the future addition of a turbo.. but I honestly don't feel like flooding my engine with fuel. Do you guys think I should go ahead and buy the new fuel rail and injectors? or just buy 2 OE ones? What all would be assosiated *parts wise* with doing the injectors/fuel rail change? All input appretiated. thanks, -jon "well, while im at it.."
  17. i'm using a failsafe 180, and my car stays around 175 all the time. i'm thinkin about getting a 190, but who knows.. it works good as is. -jon
  18. totally agree on the harshness stuff, thats what driving a car is all about! i love to feel everything and know im in control. i'm still waiting to hear from the guy @ modern motorsports, maybe i'll have to email him again. =P yes, i agree again, i think i'll be going 16, maybe 17" rims. thinking 255 rear 235(?) front. i dunno about actual rim width though, need to get a brake/lug conversion done before i even get to that stage hehe =) nice to see more 280zx owners on here fun times.
  19. all fixed, stuck thermostat it runs AWESOME. stays at 175~ all the time. even without a fan yay
  20. lol, i just replaced it =| my car just sits there and runs 140 degrees all the time! lol.. and thats w/o fan. fun times fun times.. i'll probably buy another thermostat, i guess mine was defective =P thanks for the reply
  21. FINALLY, after 2 months of having the radiator.. i got the welding done, and finally installed it. although i havn't actually bolted it into the car yet it fits quite snug and doesnt move at all =x ended up having to buy a flex rad hose kit, and boy its nice.. the only way this ever ended up working. more pics @ http://www.untraceable.org/z/radiator/ wow im telling you, it looks so out of place in my engine bay (all the chrome, eww =P) now my car won't even get to operating temp with the little ac condenser fan on. its like 95 degrees here and it runs cold with no fan any ideas on what i should do to get it to run at 180? =| lol.. before i had a problem with overheating, now its underheating!!! later, -jon
  22. wow, thanks for the great info hehe.. more stuff to research =D today is the BEST day, my car is running again woohooo! http://hybridz.org/nuke/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=34683 *SCREAM*
  23. well, i think i'm going to go ahead and do the coilovers.. i posted my hp shocks on ebay last week (it ends tonight..). i even was going to take a small loss if i could sell them, but nobody has bought them.. and with 3 hours left i highly doubt anyone will. i'm only looking for approximately a 1" drop, maybe a bit more.. but nothing drastic. i'd like to use the hps with the coilovers so we'll see how this works out. i sent ross an email about the coilovers, hopefully i can get this ball rolling soon. i believe i'm going to purchase the coilovers and the poly bushings, get them installed and what not.. then i'll look into the brake upgrades and 5 lug conversion. damn 7/hr doesnt cut it haha =D thanks for the help guys i'll probably post back when i hear from him.
