I hope I'm not highjacking this thread, as I thought this would fit in for questioning. Looking for thoughts and opinions on this on car adjustable lca's from zrace products.

I have no idea who this is or how I even found this picture. Member here ??? I was born in 70' so not exactly driving by 78', but I loved cars since that time, especially my dads ragged out 64' convertible ss impala.

I only threw up those pics as a suggestion for angles intended to be graphically created, not just using a photo. Purely a suggestion, to be considered or not, no worries.

How much did the shortening cost you? I am going with the s14 trans and debating on either shortening my stock 73', or getting a new, early 240z ds from MSA with the spicer joints, depending on cost.

^^ Yeah, the only downfall to paying $800-$1000 for a mint nos dash is the inevitable deteriation from the different materials outgassing.
But hey, what are you gonna do? (A) dash cap, cheapest in price and visual fix(my opinion). (B)Fix the dash using SEM products and take your chances © With some luck find a new old stock dash for $$$. (D) Just dashes method for big dollars. Or hope that one of the companies that have previously showed interest in our old cars actually comes through and offers said items including the dash in fiberglass/carbon fiber. I am begining to become pesimistic on the last option as time ticks by.

I called justdashes a two months ago and asked on process and pricing. Just as the link shows the process, I was told they approach it with a Thermo Vacuum Forming process and warranty it for one year. This is from their literature: "Just Dashes uses a closed cell high density polyethylene foam in combination with a thicker gauge (.045) vinyl that makes for a superior quality part, better then the original."
I was told a price of $1500, and as much as $1700 for an extra gauge or two pcket added.

My car is completely gutted right now, but whenever the day comes to reassemble, I will be using this Momo race air leather shift knob. It has half perferated leather with a brushed aluminum top and bottom. I will be matching the steering wheel with the same momo race option. Pics of what both look like. This is going onto a B&M short shifter for an s14 trans.

You guy's are absolutely right, pardon my ignorant, quick response without putting much thought into it. I have seen many times it mentioned, the type a or b 5spd box, and was not firing on all cylinders this morning from a long week. After going through Nigel's thorough write up on swapping an s14 onto the l28 (http://www.motortopia.com/cars/1973-datsun-240z-11118/car-pictures/240sx-transmission-swap-14041), and after already powder coating my 75' bell housing. I decided to search for a zx housing that has the reverse switch location in the right place and not requiring any more relocating. So my question is: are the 77'(A box) and zx
(B box) housing's built the same with the reverse swith in the same location? If not than I am only after the zx as I know it works from the writeup.

A 78' would be a housing for a 4 spd I believe. If memory serves me correctly, a 5spd was only introduced on a 79' 280zx.

It does have an aggressive look to it, but that means nothing when it isn't practical to drive on anything other than a perfectly flat road. Wow and all this time I had been going about it the wrong way by buying performance enhancing engine, brake, suspension parts. Now I realize that I must sell all of it, bust out my da grinder then dip my car in the pacific ocean and leave it to get just right. I will slam the dolly, extend the wheels with new barrels, shave the rubber on the sides, and install a cushman golfcart engine and use old school 70's gocart brakes that lock up the wheels. I guess I have been one of those "old guys with little or no taste", but I want soooooooo desperately to be onto the newest of new in trends, so that when I'm sitting in the local supermarket parking lot, everyone will be in awe. Here she is, almost ready for my photo shoot.
On second thought, I think I'll just stick to my old guy ways and build a super fun, well handling beast instead.
