Looking to buy a set of 16x8 wheels with 245/50/16 tires to run on all 4 corners on the most recent 280z project. Both previous S30 had the same rim and tire combo with +0mm offset. Had to roll fender lips on the rear to clear. Planning on running rear coilovers on this car, like the previous cars.
Anyone with 8" wide rear wheels with +20mm? No spacers, etc.?
Thanks!!

Sounds like a turbo to me...
Absolutely correct. Been into the turbo scene since 2012. LS and turbos are like bread and butter.

2018.....
Old war horse come back from the dead for a 3rd S30 project.
Going turbo, tub, cage this time for 8.5 second quarter mile time.
From what I read, Dirty Dingo seem to be my best bet considering I am not worried about long tube headers or exhaust.

11 year bump....
Whatever happened with this car/setup?

Lucky for you, the GTO pan is desired by sand rail guys. Easy to sell on eBay.

Since the LS2 came in several vehicles, Corvette, Trailblazer SS, SSR, and GTO. Of all those only the Corvette version will work properly in a S30.

That somewhat surprises me you broke the sprag, even after it was rebuilt. Mine was rebuilt only replacing soft parts with better steels/clutches, mine already had 34 element sprag (instead of the typical roller clutch), and of course a HD2 Trans-Go kit. I have a billet 9.5" converter, 3600 stall.
My Blazer weighs about double what a S30 does too. My new setup will be pushing around 700 to the wheels (Turbo 6.0) and I even warned the trans builder, but he said its good to 1,000. I guess I will find out after I get it dyno tuned this week.

That is alot of detail. I vote this should be made a sticky...

I ran the 4L60e in my latest 280z and have done many customer cars the same way. I would use one again in a heartbeat in a light car, even with nitrous using a window switch to cut the spray during the shifts.
I am also running a built 4L80e in my Blazer with a TVS1900 blown 5.3 making 550HP at the crank. It never misses a beat.
My old 454 powered 280z had a TH350 when I sold it, but the current owner has swapped it over to a 4L80e. Maybe he will chime in....

Correct. If you try and use the MLS gaskets 'as is' the heads will leak coolant.

Cable, which windage try do you use on the LS2 with the F body pan?
If you are running the F-Body pan, its best to use the matching windage tray. The truck tray can be modified to fit, but they aren't pricey enough to bother.

This thread should be a sticky to avoid noobies from starting new threads every few months about it.
The '04-present C6 Corvette LS2/LS3 oil pan works nicely and has better oil control IMO.

I ditched the charcoal canster altogether. My check valve is installed on the same 5/16" port in your picture marked 'vent'.

I have mine set to allow air to escape when filling the tank with fuel. Otherwise you'll be standing there all day trying to put fuel in and the pump stopping every few seconds because of the back pressure its seeing.

Good luck finding the 3.36 R200, they are uber rare. As far as I know they only came in the '74 260z 2+2.
I think I have a 3.69 & 3.54 if you are interested (both long nose). $100 each + actual shipping. Might be pricey to ship though. Both are in good shape, I ran both, I like the 3.90 the best and thats what I am running now.

^ Well put!!

......Mr Cable, I actually paid completely for my entire build. From the car to the motor to the tranny and everything in between. I also did most of the work by myself. My parents didnt pay for anything, I built it while i was a full time student in college and working full time. I also bought a house and own a BMW M3, that oh yea I also bought with my own money.
I am shocked I was correct you are young and own a BMW....
As for the rest:

The whole thing is fishy. It sure appears that he was street racing.
Agreed.
Although it does appear he was doing in an industrial area without anyone not involved with the street racing hanging around.
When he said the other guy fled I suspected street racing accident right then, but wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. He is got to be young too judging by the wheel and tire selection earlier in the thread (among other things).
I'd be willing to bet he still lives at home and the parents bank rolled the whole built. He had a quick little car and felt the need to do alittle d!ck measuring with other street racers. If his family doesn't own a BMW or three it'd really surprise me.
An old saying my Grandfather used comes to mind, "Something given has no value.".
Hopefully he has learned his lesson, but I doubt it since he was placing blame on someone else in the first place.

Oh, so you wont be out street racing at 7th st in Oakland anymore? Stop playing the victim.
Ahh street racing eh?
That makes much more sense. That is a whole new ball game (if true). Lucky you didn't kill yourself along with your girlfriend.
What you choose to do is your business, next time just be straight (and honest) about it.

Some retard was parked in the middle of the road at night with all his lights off. The way the street is layed out you cant see the end of the road, so by the time i saw a car in front of me it was too late. Even with Wilwood brakes all the way around, i cant stop a car doing 60 in a split second. So i hit the back of the other car doing about 60mph, my girl friend was in the passenger seat, and two people in the other car. I was the only one seriously injured, broke my leg in four places, fractured my C7 in my neck and was in the hospital for a week. Not fun at all
Sounds like fun. I have more than a few auto related (street and track) injuries that resulted in surgeries on my knees, shoulders, and right arm. Its the primary reason I am 'semi-retired' from drag racing.
Tell me the law sided with you on this since its illegal to park in the middle of the road w/o flashers and/or running lights?

Here is an update no one should ever have to do about their own cars. Just to let everyone know me and everyone that was involved are ok and almost 100% back to normal.
Crunch time....

Need a Pic of an Emissions Decal for 1975 280z
in Drivetrain
Posted · Edited by Cable
Hey guys, I have a 1975 Datsun 280z that has been out of the system for 25 years. Part of getting a title and registration, I have to get a VIN verification. Part of that process is they need to see an emissions decal. My hood doesn't have one anymore. I am sure any decent print shop that can reproduce the decal with a decent pic to go off of.
I have searched online for one to buy, but having had any luck.
It can be a federal or California type decal, it just needs to be there and say 1975.
Any help is welcomed and thanked in advance.
