  1. pro's and cons over one or the other??? and what brand of clutch slave cylinder are people using for these V8 setups? I have never seen or used a hydraulic throwout bearing and not sure if it requires anything special to make it work. Thanks
  2. Thanks much! My son and I are goingto do a conversion and I am just trying to anticipate any problems before hand as he wants to do it all in 1 weekend which I think is asking a bit much.
  3. so if they are slotted to move the engine around a little, how would one know if the engine is in their perfectly straight and not cocked to one side a little bit? i mean even a 1/4 inch off one side to the other forward or rearward is alot when the driveshaft alignment is in question and not perfectly right.
  4. so this is only for positioning the clearance for the distributor only and may not be necessary if not running an HEI?
  5. Trying to get a hold of him and havnt seen him at a local Friday night car show lately. Thanks
  6. I dont have my JTR book handy, but someone just told me that the JTR V8 kit needs to have their motor mounts modified some or the actual frame pads drilled or elongated for the JTR mounts? this person also told me that when the SBC is put in that it can slide forward or back in the mounts and then tightened down depending how far or forward i want the engine to sit. Is this right? sorry i dont have my book where i am this weekend and i need to know.
  7. So for actual header clearances near the frame etc., it doesnt matter which type of head then as its only plug handling/install ease? i wasnt sure if one type or the other the header fit differently or not (the exhaust ports angled differently or something to that effect.
  8. does it matter for clearance issuses when running headers which plug type heads to use? i thought i read somewhere that straight plug heads were the way to go on a 350 sbc. thanks
  9. I can get a 350/350 aluminum headed crate engine from my dealer out the door for $3200. all i have to do is add the carb and headers. LS1's are more expensive than this i have seen with all the computer boxes etc. what would be the pro's and cons on either engine in my 240z? the LS1 in my mind would be alot harder to hook all the stuff up and get it running right, when the crate engine is pretty much a drop in and start it up. Thanks
