Pick up the 71 240z this weekend.
S15 200sx owner replied to S15 200sx owner's topic in Nissan RB Forum
Hi Guys Picking the car up from Auckland, I'm in Wellington so it'll be a fairly long haul. The RB20 heads dont fit onto the RB30 block (different bore size etc) need the R32 RB25DE head, its a straight bolt on. Do you guys know of many other RB zeds in NZ?? -

Hi there Stage where abouts are you based? Yeah i have bounced a couple of e-mails off Rob @ RIPS, I thought he was pretty expensise for a standard internal RB30DET, so bugger it i'll have a crack at putting one together myself, have done a fair bit of reseach into the hybrid engine both on SDU & this site and i think i pretty much have it sorted. The car i have brought has been a race car, i will be building it as a road registered race car, got to be a bit of fun! In the past i have had race cars that have been trailered to the track, but this time i want a car that i can drive to an event (circuit or the odd drag meet) and scare a few people. Whats your car Stage? -
Hi guys Well the time has finally come, after much homework and deliberation & negotiation a deal has been done & and the 240z is mine. I have a big road trip north with the trailer to bring back the zed this weekend, then let the RB30DET conversion begin! I have also brought a complete VL holden commodore (with its RB30E engine & 5 speed) for $350 Still havnt got a RB25DE head for it yet (if any of you NZers have a spare give me a yell) Planning on running a GT35R or GT3540 or similar puffer. Looking for 500hp+. So cant wait to get into this. This site has given me many tips and much enthusiasm, over the last couple of years, thank you all!! How do i upload pictures? so i can keep you all posted as to my progress. Cheers.

Greedy intake manifold for RB25DET
S15 200sx owner replied to S15 200sx owner's topic in Nissan RB Forum
Nice! The intake manifold must flow ok then! Does anyone know what the XS-Power intake and exhaust manifolds are like? i think they are made in China. -
Hi Guys Does anyone know how good these are in the way of performance/flow etc. As for the money i am thinking much easier to just buy one of these compared to all the hassle etc of getting one fabricated for use with my RB30/RB25DE conversion.

JT I have emailed you.

Hey Guys Is the sump flange on the RB30 block(from the Aussie VL Commodore) the same as the RB25? I am going to do a RB30/RB25DE hybrid conversion into my 71 240Z. I am planning on using a Z31 RB20 sump pan and pickup but want to know if they will fit the RB30 block before i go to the trouble of finding/buying them. I am in New Zealand, anyone in this part of the World know where i could get the Z31 pan & pickup parts from easily?

A little while ago i came across pic's of this car, it had what appeared to be 911 turbo rear guards on it, and it was sitting on these 5 spoke ROH Modena wheels, it looked awesome. Has anyone seen this or does anyone have the link to more pics of this car, would love to see more it it! I wanna run those wheels.

Has anyone ever put a R32 GTR diff in a 240Z
S15 200sx owner replied to S15 200sx owner's topic in Drivetrain
Any of you Aussie or Kiwi guys know if this R32 GTR diff is a short-nose and if so is this a major problem to fit or not, i have a feeling that the GTR diff also runs CV (instead of Uj's) for input and output stubs....????? -
I have been advised out here in NZ to use a Mech LSD from a R32 GTR Skyline for my RB30det 240Z project, i believe these diff's to be a mech R200? Does anyone know if this is correct, and has anyone done this swap?

Where do i get a set of flares like these? Does anyone know what the name of these flares are. (Tried to attach photo saved on my computer, how do i do that??????)

Hey cheers Mike, Thanks for the info! appreciate it! I will PM you. I rang up about a 72 240z (auto) in Hamilton over the weekend. But sounds like the late model 260Z would be the go! at the end of the day i dont care as long as it is the smaller body style 2 seater! Went to the Port road Street drags on Sunday, interesting! there were a few fast skylins there. one with a RIPS built RB30DET with close to 600HP, this is the guy i will get to build the engine for the Z once i find one! It was a good day until some poor buggers thoatle jammed fully open and went straight ahead into a concrete building - very nasty!!! Hey thanks for all the help you guys are great!

Bugger it, i've decided i will build my own, and i will go for a RB30DET hybrid (RB30 from GM Holden Commodore with the RB25DE DOHC head) and a big puffer!! I will use the 5 spd from the R33 Skyline (good for truck loads of HP) Not sure what rear end to use, what is the R230 i see people talking about? I currently drive a S15 200SX (Spec R) it has the same LSD diff as the R34 GTR, supose to be bullet proof! what is the code of this diff?? is it the go? or the diff from a Z32 TT???? Does anyone know if the brakes/susp from a R32/R33 skyline will swap into a 240Z??? If so it might be the go to buy a wreck skyline as doner for all the bits, maybe even the diff??? I am on a mission to start collecting the bits.....I guess a good place to start would be a 240Z.......any one in NZ know of anything???
-
Hey there cs14silvia "well we got alota rb25 or 26 even 30 with 26head and twin turbos down here" Could you please give me the contact deatils of any companys you know that are doing RB30 DOHC conversions etc, as i am looking at doing this. Cheers dude.

Yeah i did catch the last stage in wellington, but i have just spent the weekend up at Manfield watching the Whittakers classic motor race, saw a couple of real nice 240z's and got all inspired again. An RB'd 240z would make a really good targa car though! Just been re-reading Stony's RB26 into Z post again, and am thinking the RB25 or even the good old RB20 head onto the RB30 (from the VL Holden commodore) conversion might be a better bet, I guess we are spoilt for choice with this Jap import stuff here in NZ arn't we! However there must be some well tricked up RB26 240z's in Japan that i c an import, surely!!! Hey cheers for the reply Doug, What are you running? Clint.

Have been thinking of building one of these for quite some time now, am now thinking maybe better to try to buy a car already converted complete with all the bits. Intend to have as a road registered race car here in New Zealand. Whats the chances of picking a car like this up, should i be looking in Japan perhaps. Any help in tracking down a car would be most appreciated.
