  1. Dont take this the wrong way, but i dont see what the big deal is, with wanting to run twins, most jap power upgrades for the RB26 (& similar engines) go to a large single anyway, this would make for a far simpler set up with plumbling etc as well, far less expensive iniatially and on going, as only one turbo and one gate as opposed to two of each. Even if you are concerned about lag with a large single, this can be greatly reduced with the use of modern type turbos such as a correctly sized GT--R from garrett with their BB centres etc. As a side note, i also remember a great statement made by Corky Bell in his book "Maximin Boost" "If you have no lag, you also have no surge of big power to look forward to either" or something like that. As if the turbo is sized so small as to have no noticable lag, it will also be so small that it will drastically restrict power up top. A twin high mount set up sure does look mean, but hey, is it all really worth it? Just my 2 cents & personal opinion, but hey we are all different eh.
  2. I will be interested to see how this thread goes, as i pulled a wheel off the rear of my car last night, to measure back space of the current 16x7's(which was 5") also to measure how much clearance i have to my coil overs and the outer edge of the fender. On my calculations from last nights efforts it appears that i could possibly go in about half an inch max (so backspace of 5.5") this would leave me with about .25" clearance to lower spring platform on the coil over, and possibly 1.5" out max, so a rim width of 8.5" in the rear without flaring the guards. I havnt looked at the front yet. It looks like 9" would be REAL tight in the rear. Look forward to comments from others.
  3. When you think about this, the higher the boost the more exhaust gas you have passing through the turbo exhaust housing the less you have to bypass through the waste gate. All makes sense.
  4. Let me get this right, you are swaping an RB into an early zed? Right. If so why dont you just use the 5 speed tranny from the R33 RB25DET GTS-T like most the other guys here including myself. These trans are known to support 500kw
  5. Nice one JT, you gotta be stoked, getting close now!
  6. Cheaper than a complete engine rebuild!!! Check out http://www.accusump.com/
  7. Jamie, i think the accusump system is a great idea, i to am planning to use one of these on my RB, good for prestart lube, but more importantly (i think) is the ability to keep pressure in the gallerys if any surge should happen. These things are excellent, and cheap insurance.
  8. Hey 240zrb, tell me more about this mod that the previous owner did? was it just rolling the outer lip or some other mod on the inner end of the wheel well itself? Reason i ask is i am going to need to squeeze some bigger rims/rubber under the rear of my car, it currently runs 16 x 7's and has coil overs, it looks like i have some room to come out the way at least an inch, but doesnt look/feel like i can go to far in? I would like to get at least 9 inch rims in the rear without flaring the fenders.
  9. This is starting to sound a little more promising Stony! You must be very please to see some action finally
  10. Thats a fine looking Z corzette! what size are those wheels???
  11. Nice, very nice! Good work Brad, and yeah i soooo cant wait to get mine finished!!!
  12. Hey Tim, I have had 2 scammers try this trick on me with a car i am selling as well, my response to the last was in the biggest font i could fit on the screen & bold "F___ OFF SCAMMER" i thought i would go with the good old plain & simple message. I bet their are people that do fall for this, some people (like my mother) are just too trusting!
  13. That is one dame fine looking Zed, and those wheels are fantastic, they are exactly what i want, deep dish mesh type! Can someone please confirm what those wheels are???
  14. Hey cheers Matt, I've spoken to the guy this morning and he has apoligised, and is sending me the missing bolt. Thanks anyway, very nice of you.
  15. Yeah i am sure it will be, but when only 13 turned up, it made me wonder? He must have misplaced one bolt when he packed it all up. Bugger.
  16. I bet you are all thinking dumb question, but my engine is not here and my RB25 head has just turned up, with only 13 head bolts. looking at the gasket etc it appears it should use 14 bolts, but i have only been supplied 13???? Have they sent me one short? or is this right???? If i had my engine here i could look at it, but i dont. Cheers.
  17. Thanks Doug, That is what i really wanted, someone to talk me out of this silly idea. All the points you have raised are very valid and i have been thinking on all of those same issues. I think i am far better to take the diff & CV shafts from the GTR and graft them into the Z, as then i can utilise my existing koni adjustable platform coilovers etc. and the current Z rear susp is already all fitted out with urethane bushes etc. Then look at using the GTR hubs etc as Jamie T is doing. I think this would be a far better idea than trying to totally recreate the rear end and all the issues that would come with that. And yeah thinking about it, i am sure that swapping in the whole GTR frame would add ALOT of weight!! Thanks for your comments Doug.
  18. Hey guys I'm looking at swapping in this R32 GTR complete rear frame/diff into my s30 '72 240z. I have taken heaps of measurements and will jump under the back of the zed this weekend for a measure up and a look. Here is a close up of the diff and CV shafts (shafts measure 30mm) This swap would gain alot 1. R200 MLSD 2. Strong CV joints and axles 3. Strong rear hubs (eliminate weak 240z stub axle) 4. Positive mounting of the front end of diff (its clamped in) 5. Better multi link suspension 6. Big 5 stud rear brakes 7. A generally stiffer rear end (because of frame) It looks like others have fitted the S13/S14 rear frame into S30's, i would love to see comments from others who have done this or seen this done, in relation to difficulty of this swap, please only make comment if you have experience with this swap. Cheers Clint.
  19. Close up of the GTR diff and CV shafts, this is a R200 Clutch LSD, with 30mm half shafts.
  20. Looking to put this complete unit in the back of my 240z
