  1. I am getting old so it is time for AC! :icon45:

The 240z is in need of a major wiring overhaul so while the dash is going to be out (again) figure time to add AC. So wanted to make a new thread documenting the install and the parts needed. If anyone has done so before chime in for sure. Parts to be ordered:

As I do more research actual part numbers may be changed and will be updated as I go through this install.

  2. I kinda feel the same way as Matt BUT my only point to add is either engine you go with, a solid plan should be made and time spent in the garage to maximize time on the track. Joe (rags) always told me one thing at a time when I built my cars and in a rush to always want to be at the track, I didn't enjoy the car as much because "something" would be wrong so I hated working on the car because it took time away from driving it. if your current setup (engine) meets 80% of your HP goals and track duty then stick with it since you know what you have and the time spent. If you NEED more, and have a great punchlist and plan to do the LS3 which if you believe will help you "work less" on the car to enjoy it more than go for it! Just thinking this past this year, you have a buyer right now for an engine I believe if gives you a problem again within the next two years, you will sell it. If you moved to the LSx and any issues came up, I don't think you would be on the fence to sell it and move on to another platform. I am trying to come at this without money being an issue just plan, what works best for Mike to have fun.

  3. I have the slowest triple car out of the group! Glad to see you movin forward on getting this L series engine together. Will let you know what I read and we can try and fig out a nice combo for you. First we have to see what that cam profile is that you already have.

  4. Everything here in our area cost x3......price we pay living in the the tri-state (nyc) area and why most of us do as much as we can on our Z cars ourself because it cost to have anything done.

Joe is lucky because most shops around here won't even paint a Z car!

  5. Leon - had the exhaust installed today so put a few more miles on the car. As far as a tach, I will need to get a spare tach because I believe mine is wacked. Currently there is no signal going to it and as soon as the key is on, it spikes to 8k. After driving for any period of time it goes to 1k and stays there. I bought the tach adapter and will look how to wire that up or go the way you are doing it. Not even sure if I have to do a combo of both methods. The MJ does have a tach output.

So without the tach I am just driving by ear and I can tell the car will pull nicely above 4000. I do have to adjust the valves now with about 20 miles on it and a quite exhaust I can hear the slight ticking coming from the head.

    We are getting there.....

  6. Took the car for a quick spin today - 2 miles!

Fixed the high oil pressue issue today, removed the inner (smaller) spring from the Nismo set that I had. Oil pressure is stable and maxes out around 60psi.

E-fan comes on and works properly and the coolant system holds pressure though I still have the small leak from the head. I also need to change the heater control valve and hoses because now I have a coolant drop inside the car (yay).

Still reading on getting my tach to work but I should also grab a spare because I am not sure it is good. It spikes to 8000rpm when I turn the key on. Hmmm

Still need to get the entire exhaust installed because I have half of it temp't up under the car. So right now it causes some vibrations throughout the car but that is expected.

Overall I am pretty excited about how this car sounds and the feel. The engine response to the right foot is amazing and the only thing that really has me scratching my head is how "clean" the exhaust is. Can't run my LS1 car open header in the garage for 15 mins and not be choking! =)
