  1. That may be true sometimes but your l28et wasn't touching my v8! =P

Ok end of day two. Broke down the L28ET/Z32 trans setup and the owner can get his parts back to resell them.

    Parts:

The LS1 is in its new home!

Still need to bolt the trans to the floor and fill it back up with fresh fluid. A ds needs to be ordered from JCI and some hoses. Then comes moving the harness and ecu to this car. With xmas coming up soon, I think she will sit with just the harness hooked up to the engine for now. Hope to have it done by mid Jan. I know this guy is going to be very happy with this setup. His car looks mean and now has the motor to match!

Anyone see any wrecked GTOs yet? lol.

  2. Well one day later -

Got the engine and trans out my car:

    Bye Bye LS1

    Out with the old L28ET:

Plan for tomorrow is to prep the new car for the motor mounts and tranny mounts. Have to get rid of the old tranny mounts and a little love to the trans tunnel. Also need to pull the harness from my car with a few small things. So far so good.

  3. Yes you are reading that correctly, I am pulling the 02 LS1/T56 combo out!! Today I closed a deal to pull out everything out of my car and swap it into another Z owners car who is a member here. I will let him expose himself to the group if he likes. No pun intended, lol. He has been through two turbo motors and tired of putting money into the setup. So the LS1 setup is perfect for his needs. So over the next few weeks I will doing the swap for him.....of course in Joe's(rags) garage!

The plan is to finish his car and start looking for a donor for myself. I am thinking of buying another donor....05-06 GTO. Maybe someone else has some other suggestions. While my car is apart I will clean up more items and paint some other parts. So it has been 2k miles or a little over a year and EVIL Z will be down again!

    These cars are never done!

  4. I am wondering if three vents are really needed in our fuel system.

Anyone have a real answer on that? I thought maybe the venting lines was needed for venting fumes and also keeping pressure equal in the tank? One of the vents also plugs to the filler neck if I remember correctly. I am thinking I can only run one vent line up to a modded evap can and have -AN fittings on the tank and evap tank so I can run a hard line betweein the two. I won't have to worry about the hoses bends nor the line going bad after a few years. I do really like this setup. How low have you run the car on gas? Also have you done any hard braking with the car low on fuel? The true test is one gallon of gas around a corner that produces some Gs on the fuel in the tank for longer than 2-3 seconds......track of course or even auto-x.

    Thanks.

  5. Welcome!

Please be sure to come over to your local Z club NYZCC.COM

Looking forward to seeing this car when it is done. There are a few hybridz members who are local here in the nyc area. Any plans for the rest of the car -- brakes, paint, suspension? =)

    Talk to you soon.

  6. Any pics of this mounted into the car?

Ok, I see where the fuel outlet is. I see where the fuel return is. The other bung near the sender being used as a vent line? If so I would say the bung on the dirver side of the tank is being used as the same thing. Is the drain located on the bottom of the tank?

Also, the mounting points for the tank. I see where the J bolts would have been used on the front but what are you using to mount the tank in the rear (toward tail lights)? I guess a pic will clear all of this for me. =)

The tank looks great and I love the idea of changing to the correct sender so we all don't have to play with fixing the "how much gas do I really have" issue.

    Great work!
