mike KZ, Your 240 is bad ass, a fuel injected 327, with a t56, damn. Just last night, i was wondering, why i havnt seen any 240's with some real meat in the back, you did some nice work tubbing it out. a narrowed 12bolt, thats beautiful. So, is the latch eliminated, or moved? i dont see too many with hood pins I was lookin at front end kits, bedcause some of those bumpers look soo shitty, i would have to change it, alot of those kits look kinda rice burner is, now i know these are pretty much nissan's but man, i dont want people to think ive got a ricer. like this one.. this is nice But this one, kinda debatable, kinda ricer, but kinda cool. I dont know

So guys.. heres whats up. I found on ebay a 283 crankshaft. The guy claimed it was for an army tank. I researched the numbers, and bought it. A 283 crank can be used to make a 302, heres the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7923454727&category=33616 now, i already have a daily driver, and a street/strip car, so i thought it was time to build a road car, or a touring car, and a 302 raps up really fast, and high, so it needs to be a light car. I first thought of corvette, camaro, or a monza. Then i remembered seeing an LS1, in a 240, and did a little research, i came to the conclusion that a 240 would be perfect, alot less wieght than a chevy, and it would be a pretty fun project. I got some info from the site "alteredz.com" he used a 327/t-5, the same tranny i plan to use. I do have a few questions tho 1. What years should i steer clear of? 2. is a 240, and better thana 260 or 280? 3. whats with those big ass front bumpers on some years 4. rear leaf, or rear coil springs? 5. do v8 z cars handle good at all? 6. in the kit from jtr, does that come with all the parts i'd need? 7. aside from moving the hood latch, what other mods are needed? 8. will a z rearend hold up to about 400hp?, if not, how much would a posi rearend run? do they have to be completly custom? 9. what is a good site for z parts, like bumpers and such? i will probably think of more questions. So heres my story. im 19, and live in Fort Worth texas, I just got out of basic training (army) on dec. 17, and go to AIT (fort lennord wood) on Jan 3. im a die hard chevy man, i own a '79 malibu, which i built a leaky 350, swapped the th-350 for a super t-10 4speed, and put in a grand national rear end. Done a little interior work, like makin a new dashboard full of moon gauges. I also own a '69 3/4 chevy pickup a real cherry. Other forums i visit, are Maliburacing.com, and 67-72chevytrucks. A few people have accused me of being spoiled, and claim my parents bought my cars, they are wronge, I started workin at 14, and poured every dime i made into my chevys, when i left for the army i had $80, probably 90% of what i made went to my cars. I wont be one of those ppl who join this forum, and only post like once, if this turns out to be a good forum, i will for sure stay, this is the first 240 forum i found. this was My hello post, i will post another topic in a few minutes with my 240 questions.
