  1. Or the 280Z's bind also, but nobody has noticed it.

I noticed it years ago and it only affects cars lowered about 2.5" or more.  And the effect is not noticeable to most folks.  I becomes an issue when auto crossing, road racing, or drag racing.  The driver's side halfshaft will bottom causing a bind.  This increases spring rate on that side of the car dramatically.  This has been discussed many times over the years here and I even did a writeup with pics and measurements.

  2. I sold CF and glass hoods and hatches for the S30 and S130 for 10 years.  There's a small market that can be a bit bigger if you're willing to under price MSA and your other competitors.  That will keep the margin thin (25% gross) and you'll need to sell 10 to 15 parts to recover your tooling costs - if you build real production molds.  If you build cheap molds like most of these folks do you quality will suffer and after about 10 parts you will have to replace the molds or sell junk and ignore the complaints.

The biggest issue I found was shipping costs.  These are large items and are charged by volume not weight.  So a 5 lb. CF hood in a cardboard box was charged as if it weighed 165 lbs. because of the volume.  50% of my sale were outside the USA.

  3. Any competent diff shop can set it up.  If your ring gear used the 10mm bolts then you must use bushings to make up the difference between the 10mm OD of the bolt and the 12mm ID of the holes on the OSG Superlock flange.  If a diff shop is telling you the bushings are not needed they are being lazy or cheap.  These are then exact bushings in Alain's diff.

Note:  I posted the wrong link a minute ago.  Correct link above (10mm ID, 12mmOD, 10mm height).

  4. Yes, I deleted some stupid comments I was making at 5:30am.  And I have seen the Stance stuff in action on a road race track and its no better or worse then out of the box Bilstiens or Tokico HTS shocks.  Not as good as Koni 8610s or 8611s.  With some development time I'm sure it can get up to where the 8610s and 8611s are.

If you want to characterize my opinions as negative, fine.  I have no dog in this fight, just trying to answer your original questions.

  5. Wait... your only attachment of the strut tube to the spindle are those "plug" welds?  If so.  I suggest you run a bead around the base of where the tube touches the spindle and hub casting.  From the factory the strut tubes are press fit and furnace brazed to the spindle and hub castings.  You want to duplicate that as best you can.  And if your front springs are really 700 lb. in. then, well, you will have lots if handing issues.
