Before this debate goes too far, everyone participating should bone up on what these terms really mean. There is a lot of mis-information and outright lies being spread by both sides of the debate (outside of HybridZ). Welfare (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welfare) Social Security (USA) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_security_%28United_States%29) Medicare (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medicare_%28United_States%29)

As I've said before, there's no such thing as "backpressure." The exhaust system gets pressurized to some degree because you are restricting the flow of a gas. The pressure doesn't go "back" somewhere. A pressure number of 2 to 3 psi measured immediately after the header collector is a good number to shoot for.

It appears to me that most anti-war arguements have degraded (after the fact) into one or both of these logical fallacies: http://www.adamsmith.org/logicalfallacies/000664.php http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historian%27s_fallacy

And here's Kofi Anon's plan to stop terrorism: http://www.un.org/largerfreedom/contents.htm And, to fund all of this, Kofi basically wants the UN to get .7% of the Gross Domestic Product of ALL the developed nations: It appears to me that the basis of Kofi's plan to prevent terrorism is to bribe undeveloped and terrorist supporting nations to keep them from exporting violence. Let's look at what Kofi expects the US to contribute annually to the terrorist kickback fund (what I call the UN budget): 2004 US GDP (in chained 2000 dollars): $10,842,600,000,000.00 .7% of that figure: $75,898,200,000.00 That's $7.6 BILLION dollars Kofi expects the US to contribute to the UN each year. The UN's "claimed" operating budget is $1.5 billion but what they actually take in a spend through their various programs is almost impossible to figure out. BTW... I'll add this from the report for those that think we should rely on the UN to help with our (or any country's) security: Even the UN admits that its current programs and policies are futile in providing any form of security. It still can't (after 35 years) define the word "terrorism."

No guess possible. Shocks have nothing to do with overall handling balance. Springs, anti-roll bars, alignment, and weight distribution (in that order) are what affects balance.

Again, please read HJ RES 114 for the reasons Congress and the President went to war with Iraq: http://www.yourcongress.com/ViewArticle.asp?article_id=2686 And also note the date of the resolution: 10/10/2002. The US worked with the UN and the weapons inspectors for 6 months AFETR getting authority from Congress to invade. China has passed dozens, maybe even hundreds, of similar laws/resolutions in the last 50 years. Look at China's actions, not what they say. The closest China came to invading Taiwan (Formosa at the time) was from August 1954 to May 1955 when China shelled the disputed island of Quemoy. This was after the US removed its blockade of Taiwan (yes, OUR blockade of Taiwan) which was preventing a planned invasion of mainland China by Chiang Kai-shek. http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ops/quemoy_matsu.htm We are not close to a similar situation. Doubtful. That would immediately harm China's economy significantly more then it would immediately harm ours. Those bonds would have to be sold at a huge discount (imagin how cheap the bonds would become if 1/4 trillion hit the market at once). It would have a long term impact on the future sale of US bonds, but that impact can be spread out over time. The impact on China's economy would be immediate. Huh? You say that as if we are the world's cops and other countries are doing criminal acts on our beat. I KNOW that's not how you think How are we weak militarily and economically? What previous administration or era are we weak in comparison to? And I say anytime our adiminstration's foriegn policy pisses off Jimmy "Hugo Chavez is not a dictator" Carter we must be doing things right.

Amir's (Demon) SR20DET 260Z weighed in at 2160 and was registered and driven on the street. The ROD was registered but really couldn't be driven on the street and it weighed 2150.

Wanted: Steering Wheel Advice
johnc replied to jeromio's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I had the Momo Air Leather on my car and loved it. Sold it recently for $175 including the adapter. Unfortunately they don't seem to sell a full air leather steering wheel anymore (although the Competition is close) so I regret selling it. -
Ball joint bolts and steering knuckle bolts
johnc replied to sjhafa's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Just a wild guess here (assuming you have the steering knuckles on the correct side of the car), could you have the wrong ball joints? The steering arm should seat on the taper and not on top of the ball joint. -
Time for a thread "Time Out." I might re-open it in a few days... OK, I'll open this thread back up. Thoughtful, respectful discussion please.

A distortion of the truth. The US, through the CIA, supported the Ba'ath Party's coup in 1963 but did not directly support Saddam and probably didn't even know he existed. He was in exhile in Cairo after a failed 1959 attempt to assasinate Kassem. At most Saddam was considered a minor party thug and assasin. Two months after the successful coup Saddam returned to Iraq from exile and worked as an assasin and thug for the Ba'ath Party while officially an interrogator in the Fellaheen and Muthaqafeen detention camps. In the late 1960's the Ba'ath Party started leaning towards the Soviet Union (as a result of the six day war) and in 1972 actually signed a treaty of friendship and cooperation. At that time Saddam was controlling one small department called the Peasants Department with Ahmed Bakr the Iraqi President. Later, with Bakr's support, Saddam's power quickly grew until he won power in the revolution of 1979.

Were you responding to me, Pete, or Jon? I checked back and I didn't see where someone was jumping down your throat, but maybe I missed something. FYI... ALL of us should keep this thread civil, it really has the potential to start a flame war but so far we've been pretty good about it.

Roll Cage Main Hoop Question
johnc replied to Jolane's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
You can also rebuild the seat mounts as 1.5" x 3" boxes and pick up about 2" of headroom. -
The "100K Iraqi" deaths and the "58 times greater risk of dying" figures are based on a study titled, "Mortality before and after the 2003 invasion of Iraq: cluster sample survey" published in volume 364 issue 9448 page 1857 of The Lancet. The link to the study in PDF form is here: http://pdf.thelancet.com/pdfdownload?uid=llan.364.9448.primary_research.31264.1&x=x.pdf That study (and the figures it produced) have been debunked repeatedly in many places with Slate magazine (hardly a conservative institution) being the most well known: http://slate.msn.com/id/2108887/ And from another site that discussed the study and the study author's incorrect use of CI:

Roll Cage Main Hoop Question
johnc replied to Jolane's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Yes. No. Pay attention to that article. Probably be a bad idea because that roof support is a structural box. By cutting out one side of the box you've made it very weak. A better option would be to put the main hoop right up against the roof support and weld five tabs from the hoop to the support connecting the two. Roll bars and cages are first and foremost SAEFTY items. Follow the specifications set by NHRA, SCCA, NASA, POC, PCA, etc. or you'll most likely end up with something that is not safe.
