  1. dont know if any of you remember my last post of boost part 2, but anyways i got my car to the track only twice this summer and the best run i had was a 12.7 at 111, with 20lbs of boost. im pretty happy with that. but that was only the testing of the stock internals. im now starting on my plans of stroker motor and want to know if any one has used the kit out of zcarparts.com. if so please give me some feed back. there isnt much info on the kit, im interested if it is forged or cast , and how well they hold up.
  2. your best bet is to take it to a machine shop,, its hard to tell without doing some measurements, but i think ive seen worse work out.. good luck
  3. what is your timing set at?
  4. not sure who all saw my last post titled boost, but to keep you guys up to date my 76 280 with the draw through four barrel holley turbo set up is complete and i took it to the track last week. it runs wicked strong at 18lbs of boost and a mile above sea level , i only got two runs in but was very satisfied, 1st run was 13.77 at 108 with a 2.45 60 ft. i wasnt on my rev limiter so it took awhile to spool, second run was a 13.20 at 83mph and a 1.8 60 foot, as you can tell i was stomping on the brake at 34 track trying not to breakout, didnt work. this week i plan on installing my direct port nitrous and working on suspession stuff. i should be racing on the 5th of july so ill hopfully have a good video to post. hey sleeper z, long time no see, just want to remind you that i have your slicks, and appreciate you letting me use them.
  5. i dont get it,, i asume the 383 chevy that puts out 450 horse would have to be very high compression, if that is the case you cant twin turbo charge it,,am i missing something,, ??? it does sound like a fun project though!
  6. thanks for the info guys,, so im not that crazy after alll !!!
  7. it'll be on video i promise
  8. spork,, what do you have for a bottom end??? i have a insky cam
  9. i just got off the phone with my brother and it was actually a 10.34 at 133 and that is a mile high,,,
  10. i forgot to add that i am running a water/alcohol injection insted of intercooler
  11. thanks for actually replying slownrudty,, i really do want to know what boost levels people are running. anyways,, yes i am serious,, remember this is an experiment, this is not a daily driver, for the track only , and when it breaks i have two others to drive. to answer your questions, 1 it is not safe to run an intercooler with this system because it is a carb system, the turbo , intercooler, and the intake will all be full of fuel,, if it were to backfire BOOM! 2. i know that is alot, im going to work my way up as far as possible, i want to take it to the limit.3. i honestly thought that the bolts were better, am i wrong?? 4.yes they can, my brother runs a 54 vw bug at bandimere 10.8 @134 with the same exact setup, a guy i work with runs a bug at28lbs,, honestly.. the carb just has to be boost referanced. 5. the bottom end ,, yes i know it is a bad idea but it is stock. i know a guy that is running 14lbs on a stock block that has never been rebuilt. 5. the intake is just a 76 n/a that i cut up and welded , by ported i ground out the runners to match the big head intakes. I'll post pics and videos once i learn how,, by the way i was headed to the springs yesterday with my boss the pick up a bunch of motor cores, we got stuck right before monument hill for two hours because of all the wrecks,,, later!!
  12. yeah yeah yeah,,, ive argued with myself about that, and i lost!! i am going to take it slow,, start with ten then creep up
  13. well my setup is alittle different, so its kind of an experiment, its a 83 l28et rebuilt with arp rod bolts and head bolts, 2mm steal head gasket, comp = 7.85:1, big ported head with insky cam, modified intake, water injection, t3/t4 turbo, tial wastegate, and here is the fun part, a holley 750 draw through carb.a direct port nitrous system that i have will be added in the future, and to answer your question yes they are stock pistons, i know thats not the smartest thing but im so broke. i wish i could post pics but i dont know how..
  14. my latest l28 turbo project is almost ready to go and i am courious about what boost levels some of you are running. I plan on running around 20lbs once everything is tuned correctly.
  15. dont do it,, save youself alot time and frustration and hunt down a turbo motor,, check out zcar.com or ebay,,
  16. i have had the same problem,, if it is just slightly off loosen the cam tower bolts and use a rubber mallet to tap the cam towards the back of the motor , this will give you alittle more room to play with,, once the sprocket is on use the cam bolt to pull it back into place,, make sure you retighten and torque the cam tower bolts, hope this helps
  17. am I crazy,, isnt it maf, not afm
  18. im new to this website and the use of computors and i want to state that i did try to find the answer to my question by using the search but could not find any, any ways, a few months ago i lucked out by finding a 72 240 with the v8 conversion already done at a estate sale ,, the motor was trashed= broken cam, thrown rod, cracked lifter bores, ect.so i built a 350 chevy that runs very strong but when i get on and off the throttle the diff clunks really loud,, i also have a 75 280 turbo conversion that i used a solid mount on but is very loud,, what are my options, thanks alot,,
