Texas Turbo Tom 240 to LS2/T56/Magnacharger build
quickdraw replied to texis30O's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Ahh...I could've sworn it was the z in the video you posted. Well there's another yellowish white flared ls2 swapped z between Houston z and powerfab -
Thanks guys. I hopped into the Houston z group and spotted a texasnissan swap that I made it to today.

We're 15 minutes apart. I'm at gosling and flintridge. I can't wait to get mine on the road. I'm sure you're pumped. What's the story on the Z scene in houston? The ZCAR club of Houston seems to be on life support (website's down, etc. )

And finally off to paint. Been a little longer than planned but pretty exciting to get to this point.

And everything back up underneath the car. All the suspension was cleaned and painted with new bushings all of the way around. And a BC racing 30-way adjustable coilover set with camber adjustment...yay! (
-
Got all of the suspension back from getting welded up. Brand new spindle pins pressed in as well. I cleaned everything and painted all of the suspension stuff.

I'll admit...I sometimes wonder what I was thinking. But I had the rusty version before and wanted to make sure it was something I could hang on to without any issues. Then the problem becomes..."well I wasn't going to do this but the car is already apart and it'll be so much easier if I do it now" thought process and the project tends to increase in size. Oh well, off to paint on the 12th and it's time to put everything back together.

In hindsight, it was probably overkill. It only took a couple hours, a $25 roll of plastic, and duct tape but for me it ended up cramping the working space and I block sanded regardless. It did keep the rest of the garage from getting painted. Which is nice. But I'm not sure I would do it again. Probably just paint it outside on a clear still day.

Woohoo!!!

...alright..seriously. No words of encouragement or criticism? I've dropped a Celine Dion & Dexter reference, put my pics of my new P1 up (it's actually not mine) and the build is a full ground up resto with RB swap from a guy who's never touched a car. Tough crowd.

Aluminum radiator install
quickdraw replied to xonix_digital's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Thanks though. I thought about using the factory mounting setup but there's really no "cradle" that can be reused. Anyone else have any thoughts? It would be helpful to see how others have tackled this. -

You don't by chance have any pics of that do you? -
And I've started work on this monster. It's in pretty rough shape. I thought I'd give it a go and see how it held up. Pretty minimal risk as I see it. And it's current state.

I finally received the delayed parts. I ordered the new BC racing Coilovers setup through JPN garage, not the group buy. An original early October delivery date turned into a late November delivery date. Then BC sent the 240z sleeves not the 280z sleeves. Another few weeks delay on getting those from Japan. And then the USPS loses them for two weeks. Grumbling aside, JPN handled it well and the setup is impressive. It's at the suspension shop now getting welded on. I'm also having them press out the spindle pins. I know it's a right of passage...but for $30...I'll let them have that blessing. While I've been waiting on the suspension stuff which has been holding up paint I started working on the interior reconditioning and other little things. I rebuilt the hinges. A surprising amount of gratification there: And another car show. The P1 was amazing. The guy also owned a '73 240z with full Arizona Zcar setup and LS1. I think he was a bit surprised I was more interested in the Z:

Thanks everybody. External cleanup it is.

Aluminum radiator install

Bringing this one back from the dead. I picked up a RB25det plus mishimoto intercooler and PRC radiator from a fellow enthusiast that had to scrap his project. Meaning I did limited research on the PRC just to understand that it was a quality option. I have limited resources when it comes to custom fabrication. I have searched here and google extensively trying to find out how to mount the radiator. The only thing I have found is a reference in this thread by Rival5 to custom fab. Is anyone aware of a bolt-up scenario for the PRC rad? Any other options? -
Wheel Stance and lowering spring picture request
quickdraw replied to 415DZ's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I literally just spent two months going through the 100+ page wheel show thread to find what I like from a wheel and stance standpoint. It's a fantastic...though all 100 pages is necessary... I just enjoyed looking at all of the different setups -
I've got one at the house off of a '76 280z if you're interested. PM me.
-
Oh wow. Seeing that puts it into perspective. Thanks

I've never built a car from the ground up so I'm being overly cautious. It's much easier to research or leverage the community's knowledge to get the "that tank's in marvelous shape" comment than to not know and find out the hard way. Thanks for the input. Much, much appreciated.
