  1. Catching up a bit... Got all of the body cleaned up (surface rust) and sprayed with a rust converter. I had a tough experience with the passenger-side door. It looks as if the door was dropped on a corner and the skin shifted about a quarter of an inch off it's natural fit. This cause door fitment issues which caused fender issue which caused hood...etc. You get the idea. Washed and ready for body work. A little anxious about the effort but I think it will come together nicely.
  2. Not sound deadening...thick paper to keep any paints spills off the garage floor.
  3. Anyone have the jw/day makers installed with pics?
  4. Weird. I spoke with wholesaler today who indicated these were on backorder through January. He didn't believe any retailers had them in stock. The few I spoke to confirmed as much. I talked to the ebay seller and they swear that they have them in stock...we'll see. Thanks for the heads up. I'm rocking a pair of the 240z bz3016 which is how I arrived at the WTB ad. I was attempting to determine if the bz3016 would work on the 280z (link) which apparently it will with the 280z spacer and glan nut. But If I buy the 3013 that get's me the spacer I need but I think that means I'm still short the glan nut. Right? Any recommendations on tracking down the 280z glan nut?
  5. Embarrassingly, I'm a little fuzzy on this. I spoke with Mckinney today about their megan setup and he indicated it came with cartridges. I assume by your comment that this is not always the case?
  6. Not at all. Just trying to stay within budget. But's it's looking like that's my only decent option if I was something (not second-hand) prior to January
  7. I'm looking for either a full set or illiuminas for the 280z or a front pair (bz3012) and a pair of the 280z rear glan nut and spacers. Alternately, I may go coilover since the tokico line is hard to come by. So, if anyone as a set of coilovers laying around they're not using let's talk.
  8. For those interested, I've continued to dig on general tokico availability. I tracked down the wholesaler, Motovicity, and had a nice conversation with Joshua who handles tokico imports. Basically, they're still catching up on the two year drought and are on backorder through January for all tokico products for the Z (this includes gland nuts & spacers, etc.). Further he indicated the HP product line would probably be more easily attainable as the wholesale orders are currently about 50% pre-sold whereas the illumina line was 75-80% pre-sold. Boooo He recommended I speak with THMotorsports. It sounded like they were their primary US retailer and he thought they may (longshot) have something in stock. They didn't but I got to talk Z's with one of their reps, Hubert, who has a '71 240z. Basically, nothing is currently available other than KYBs or coilover rigs for our cars. And to my surprise he said he bought a t3 coilover rig and was very disappointed with the quality- news to me. Still open to suggestions to solving the lack of suspension if anyone has ideas. I'm not waiting until January to get the car on the road.
  9. Much appreciated. Will the stock gland nut work? If not, where might I track tokico ones down? The struts themselves have proven difficult to track down and it appears the same is true for a tokico.
  10. I bought a set of rear bz3016 tokico illuminas from another enthusiast. In his description it indicated this set would work for 240z, 260z or 280z though now that I'm about to do the install (and doing a little deeper reading) it appears that these are just for the 240 or 260. The only other detail I've been able to dig up is that the 240 struts are a little narrower. Will these work in a 280? And if so any considerations?
  11. I've heard very positive things about Jtran. The specialize in nissans. I've never used them but the reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. Worth a look if you're shopping
  12. I'm working on body work now and setting up a paint room in the garage for the primer work. Figure I'll save a few buck there and let the professionals do the tough stuff. I have a whole new appreciation for Dexter's hobby:
  13. So, I was planning a L28et setup for the car with the longshot possibility of an rb25det. Well, thanks to an opportunity here on Hybridz the longshot came together. I bought a RB the other day. Super pumped!
  14. Cleaning the fine West Texas dust off the car was surprisingly difficult. It was like baby powder everywhere. But I'll take it for a rust-free foundation. I've been focused on acquiring the parts that I lack and working on the items that can be executed while the car is in it's current state. As an exmaple, shaving a few things:
  15. So, I made the 16 hour round trip with a neighbor to pick up the car. High quality transportation service: And got it back to the house
