hartsel
hey everybody. im sure everyone has come across this problem at least once in their life on a vehicle not even nescisarily a z. but my brakes squeel when they are applied. i just put on new rebuilt calipers from orillies and i have some generic pads that i bought at autozone. the old calipers were siezed up, when i would brake the car pulled hard right, and the rotor would not spin by itself. i figured that changing the calipers would fix my squeeling problem and it did a little bit. but its still squeeking. i just cant stand this. its nothing like the random squeeks my grand prix makes from time to time. its just a little more intense. any ideas..... could it be my booster. ? thanks everyone. beermanpete
Brake squeaks can be due to the pad compound, dirt in the pad and caliper, missing parts, gremlins, and other unknowns. There are a variety of compunds available from your local auto parts store you could try that are supposed to help reduce brake squeaks. Make sure all the parts are present and installed correctly. Also, you could try a different brand of pad.
jhm
Do you have the shims in there? They often get removed, lost, or discarded by previous owners. MSA sells a kit for $19: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/SBC04/24-5301
BluDestiny
Did you turn or replace the rotors?
