brewtown
after months of lurking, and not being able to see most of the photos, I've decided to join your ranks as a member. My name is Collin, im 26 and I recieved this Z from a good friend, for free, title in hand. From what I can tell, it has a L48 block, Camel hump heads, and a turbo350 pushing the power, with a custom drive shaft. Whoever did the welding wasnt the best, but its all sturdy. The wiring appears to be shot, and I already have a full new universal harness from EZ2Wire.com on order, same with a 600cfm holley carb with a pro flo filter. I have a carter AFB 750 that needs to be rebuilt, and a huge single velocity stack that was left in the back of the car anyone wants to trade some stuff feel free to get at me. bare with me, the last car I built was a satalite road runner clone. The bad: notice the horrible job on the z28 cowl... it was bolted then used a few cans of bondo to secure it on... where the heck am I going to find a new hood? the dash is torn all to hell, as you can see by the pics missing the rear and front valance The GOOD! Clean block, turns over. virtually no rust on this car. Full rollcage welded properly in, and there is bracing.... everywhere! onto the dirties... Miles
Welcome If you haven't already done so, pick up a copy of the Datsun V8 swap manual from Jags that Run (JTR). JTR is the basis for most of the projects discussed in the HybridZ forum. JTR and the HybridZ forum FAQs will answer many questions as your project evolves. http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Datsun_Z_V-8.html Let the fun begin
NewZed
Pretty sure that's a ZX, not a Z. They're different in many ways. It'll help you in any future questions to add year and model. Was it built or being built for drag-racing or just whatever happens?
brewtown
zed- you are correct, i should have been more forthcoming, it is a zx. its a 79, so the first year of it... i do love the lines of the Z over this, but for the price I could not pass it up Miles- thanks! I did not know of a manual at JTR, i have placed an email and order for one. should be a good time... im hoping to have it at least running by spring, then painted by 2013. GOTHALOSISM
One other point, thats not a z28 scoop but a l-88 hood scoop that came on corvettes.

brewtown
One other point, thats not a z28 scoop but a l-88 hood scoop that came on corvettes. regardless, lol, this hood is trash. Ive been checking through salvage yards for a decent hood and the lower valance, but i think these parts are going to be quite difficult to find.... Miles
Check out ZBARN for the hood, body parts etc.: http://www.zbarn.com/other%20Web%20stuff/Catalog%20Pages/ZX%20Used%20Body.htm

brewtown
To bad your in wisconson I would just trade you mine. I've been looking to do the l-88 hood swap. i would do shipping for shipping, but you really dont want this thing.... i mean its bolted and bondo'd, not to mention the hack job of trying to cover the hole where a high rise manifold was cut out for. also, I'll check out Z barn. Had a lead on a pick and pull that had a decent ZX to the south of chicago, but i called up and they sold it a few days ago the search continues. The wiring harness shipped today, comes with everything i need. the only things I could reuse are some of the plugs. http://stores.ez2wire.com/-strse-37762/Muscle-Car-Mustang-GTO/Detail.bokts, Also, if any of you guys need parts, advanceautoparts.com has 20% internet orders, and free shipping over 75 bucks. I bought my holley carb for cheap with the choke cable. FYI. the coupon code is P20 I think it would be advisable to tear out the wiring as I install the new leads, for routing purposes.
