forchunet
This may be a stupid question and I tried searching with no results, but how do I confirm that an engine is a stroker short of pulling it apart?
PalmettoZ
Your correct, you would need to at least pull the oil pan off to confirm if it is a V07 crankshaft. Also measure the bore diameter, 89mm will give you 3.1L with the stroker crank. Your can't see it from the outside of the motor-

Your can't see it from the outside of the motor- Take the spark plug out and fill the cylinder with fluid at BDC untill it is about to flow out the plug hole. then multiply the volume used by 6 after subtracting ~20 ml for gasket and partial CC volume. Then agian... *I* wouldn't do that...
forchunet
Maybe I'll butt dyno it. Lol.
johnc
Ask for the receipts. If no receipts, then its a regular L28 unless the seller can prove otherwise.
forchunet
Thats exactly what I plan on doing. The guy says its a rebello motor and that rebello knows the car. I guess I'll have to give Dave a call.
luvemfast
Can you take the spark plug out. Turn the crank to get the piston BDC. Carefully put a bit of wire down, mark the length. (Take it out again) Turn to TDC. Put wire in, carefully. Re-measure. Would that give you the stroke at least?
steve260z
Only if you could keep the wire at the exact same angle through the entire procedure and measure within a half mm tolerance + or -
forchunet
The car ended up being a stroker. Talked to Tony D about it and he remembered the car as being a rebello motor. It's actually the same exact car as the one in this video . In the end I didn't buy it though and have instead decided to build my own... Tony D
Didn't buy it eh? Hmmmm... I may have a cross-country trip in a Z repatriating right-to-left...
forchunet
Yeah, slept on it for a while and finally decided to just build my own. I've had 3 Z's over the years and I finally think its time to build one from the ground up. You should come pick it up, although the owner did say he was very reluctant to sell.
